Storytelling jako herecká výzva / Storytelling Actors´ Challenge

Burešová, Eva January 2013 (has links)
The aim of my thesis is to acquaint the reader with the method of storytelling, which is not well known in the Czech Republic. Throughout the world it is being successfully used in theater, education and dramatherapy. To better understand this method I define the basic features of storytelling, while also defining the differences between storytelling and similar genres such as one-man-shows, monologues or improvisation. The focus of my thesis is the use of storytelling in theater, mainly in acting. This is also manifested in the chapter containing a set of storytelling excercises which I encountered during the rehersals of the První dáma platí, druhá leze z gatí and Všichni Teigeho muži performances. The following comprehensive reflection outlines my own subjective views on both of the performances, the process of developing of the characters in question and the composition of the author's own text. I also attempt to highlight pros and cons of each of the exercises and assess their usefulness to me. I trust that my thesis will draw attention to the benefits of the storytelling method and help raise awareness of this method in the eyes of the public.

Jaroslav Hašek - autor krátkých próz, publicista a politik / Jaroslav Hašek - author of short stories, journalist and politics

Felenda, Šimon January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis analyzes and compares three life and social roles of one of the most well-known writers of Czech literature, Jaroslav Hasek. Specifically, it is his role as a storyteller, a journalist and a politician. My work is focused on the analysis of the blend and differences between these roles pertaining to the development and context of both the time period and Hasek. The analysis is divided into several parts and it tries to view Hasek from different points of view. Specifically, it deals with the author's historical genesis, then with the narratological analysis of short stories and finally the content analysis associated with the reference to Jaroslav Hasek's language resources.

K teorii narativní počítačové hry / On the theory of narrative computer game

Olšan, Jan January 2013 (has links)
On the theory of narrative computer game Bc. Jan Olšan Diplomová práce Univerzita karlova v praze, Fakulta humanitních studií, Katedra elektronické kultury a sémiotiky Vedoucí práce: Mgr. Jakub Češka, Ph.D. Praha 2013 Abstract The paper focuses on computer games that include narrative content (that is, such games that tell a story). Its goal is to reveal a theoretic delineation of the nature and inner working of narrative computer game as a specific (art) form, such that would broaden understanding of its properties, possibilities it opens and also to present a basic sort of a definition for it. This basic nature of the subject is discovered in the way the "agent - game situation" coupling is being formed. This coupling is present in both game and narrative, and being a common base, it facilitates integration of both forms into a new one, in this way: the player of the game becomes the agent, controlling the story's protagonist; and the narrative, constituted by the story plot and the conflict it includes and which the player faces, becomes the game situation. This integration produces a new, homogeneous form, from which both the simulation and the narrative parts of narrative computer game can be deduced. In this way it is shown that the apparent contradictory discrepancy between these two parts and the...

Transmediální vyprávění fikčního světa Star Wars / Transmedial storytelling of the Star Wars fictional world

Vitoušová, Valérie January 2013 (has links)
In my thesis I focus on the problematics of the transmedia storytelling which can influence the original story, even if its main aim is to elaborate that story. Innterferencies can be done on the level of the very story or on the level of the theories,, which can be applicable on it. I'm using the example of Star Wars fictional world, to which theories of Vladimir Propp, Joseph Campbell, J.R.R. Tolkien can be applied, just as the concept of mythology created by Roland Barthes. I'm going to present how transmedia storytelling influences the original story, presented mainly by the film episodes and "G-canon", on the chosen examples of Star Wars transmedia. At the same time transmedia storytelling changes the meaning of the theoretical frames named above, which can be applied to the original story. My aim is to show that the impact of transmedia is much greater that it is usually presented.

Vypravěčské strategie v povídkách Raymonda Carvera / Narrative strategies in the short stories of Raymond Carver

SELNER, Ondřej January 2016 (has links)
The thesis Vypravěčské strategie v povídkách Raymonda Carvera deals with the literary concept of a narrator. It's results - typologically different narrators and their characterizations - are based on reading and analysis of all published Carver's short stories. The thesis is divided into two main parts - into the theoretical part in which we briefly introduce the development and fundamental concepts of narrator in the literary theory (e.g. in concepts of F. K. Stanzel, K. Friedmann, G. Genette, T. Todorov, D. Cohn, S. Chatman, J. Culler, J. H. Miller and W. C. Booth) and into the practical part which analyses and characterizes those narrative strategies and types with the use of previously introduced terms and theories. The result of this thesis is a lucid list of different narrative types in Carver's short stories.

Vztah narativity literatury a počítačových her / Relation of narrative of novels and computer games

Hanták, Daniel January 2015 (has links)
This paper tries to characterize relation between narrative of novels and computer games. In its first part it points out specifics of the narrative of videogames, but also shows how narrative used in literature reacted in a form of multiform stories. It defines the possible kinds of relations between these two media (genetical influence, influence of structural analogy, influence of functional similarity, influence of shared contextual functioning, metatextual relation and changes caused by shared influences of perception), shows possible directions in which they can be used and finally it shows some of the prominent examples from both media to make these relations clearer. The main interest of the paper is then influence of structural analogy because of comparison of possibilities in both kinds of narrative. KEYWORDS narratology - narrative - fictional worlds - comparatistics - literature - computer games

Naratologická analýza románu Chiny Miévilla Král Krysa / The Narratological Analysis of Novel King Rat by China Miéville

Bečan, Martin January 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with the analysis of the British author's China Miéville's literary debut King Rat. For the analysis, I used especially semiotically/semiologically oriented narratology, the thesis therefore draws especially from the methods used in Roland Barthese's, Tzvetan Todorov's and Lubomír Doležel's works. It also uses methods of Gérard Genette, Seymour Chatman and Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan. I analysed categories from the domain of narratology, specifically: the narrator, story, characters, space (surroundings) and the time.

Narativní prostory lyriky / Narrative spaces of lyrical poetry

Melichar, Dominik January 2013 (has links)
The work is a summary reflection on reading lyrical text and reader's understanding. It consists of two major topics - narratology and poetics of lyric poem - which are dissolved in the body of the work because of their meeting and direct confrontation. The third major circuit also dissolved in the body of work so that it can be functional for each complete part is poetry of Jiří Orten. Narratology now appears as a universal approach to the analysis of art (besides the literary text also film work, theater performances, paintings, etc., etc.). Poetics of lyric poetry is still adrift in a similar methodology. Considerations of this work are based on the assumption that narrative is one of the fundamental noetic structures of the human mind, and that storytelling is organizing principle of the human psyche. Based on this assumption the phenomenon of lyrical poem approaches to man as a kind of narratives that makes up a fictional world. Thoughts on the fictionality of poems, largely based on Doležel concept of fictional worlds is herein supported by Miroslav Červenka studie Fictional worlds of lyrical poetry. One of the last works of Červenka is confronted with other theoretical considerations on this subject (especially M.-L. Ryan, W. Iser and also U. Eco). Likewise this work is becomes a place of...

Reprezentace děl literárních velikánů v současné popkultuře / Representations of "great" (canonically authoritative) texts in contemporary popular culture

PECHOLTOVÁ, Lucie January 2016 (has links)
The thesis focuses on how literary texts of the so called "great tradition" can become parts of contemporary pop culture based on intertextual connections (a wide variety of them from explicit quotation to loose inspiration by the original) with the historical canonical texts, and especially on the changes occurring during such actualization in the narrative categories (storyline, space, time, characters, narrator). The theoretical part defines the concept of adaptation and related terms of intertextuality and intermediality and specifies relevant narrative categories. The analytic part focuses on two literary "giants", William Shakespeare to represent male literary oeuvre and Jane Austen as a representative of female writers' tradition, to show particular narrative modifications by comparing the original versions with their modernized adaptations that function as their pop cultural counterparts.
