Denna uppsats undersöker gymnasiespråklärares användning av och attityder gentemot informella lärande-aktiviteter som anses främja elevers lärande och motivation. Informella lärande-aktiviteter inbegriper narrativa former, teknikstödda läromedel för interaktion med andra målspråkstalare och inkludering av autentiskt innehåll från målspråkskulturen, social interaktion samt samarbete. Tidigare forskning om informellt och formellt lärande granskas tillsammans med teorier om motivation. Kopplingen mellan informellt lärande och elevers lärande och motivation presenteras och utgör uppsatsens grund. För den kvantitativa datainsamlingen, fyllde ett antal språklärare i en enkät som bestod av påståenden om innehållet i deras undervisning. Resultaten visar att språklärare igymnasieskolan i stor utsträckning är benägna att använda informella lärande-aktiviteter i sin undervisning. Tillämpningen av informella lärande-aktiviteter förefaller förbättra elevers lärande samt öka deras motivation. / This essay studies upper secondary school language teachers’ use of and attitudes towards informal learning activities which are considered to promote improved student learning and motivation. Informal learning activities include narrative forms, technology-based learning aids for interaction with other target language speakers and inclusion of authentic material from the target language culture, social interaction and collaboration. Along with reviewing previous research on informal and formal learning, theories about motivation are also examined. The connection between informal learning and student learning and motivation is presented and constitutes the foundation of the essay. In order to collect quantitative data, a number of language teachers were asked to fill in a questionnaire of statements about the contents of their instruction. Results show that upper secondary school language teachers in general are inclined to use informal learning activities in their instruction to a great extent. The application of these informal learning activities appears to improve students’ learning along with increasing their motivation.
