Vad anser lärarna att det finns för fördelar och nackdelar/svårigheter med Landet Längesen? Hur tycker elever att det är att arbeta med Landet Längesen? Vilka krav anser lärare att Landet Längesen ställer på lärare och elever? Arbetet omfattar kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra lärare och en enkätundersökning med totalt 27 elever. Vår studie visar att lärarna omsatt de pedagogiska idéerna som Landet Längesen bygger på och att de har använt sig av det tillhörande materialet. Resultatet lyfter även likheter och skillnader i omsättningen av Landet Längesen. En slutsats är att lärarna är positiva till arbetet med Landet Längesen och att det råder olika åsikter hos eleverna.</p>

The purposes of this qualitative descriptive study were to explore the meaning of spirituality as described by aging adults in various states of health, to describe the relationship between spirituality and health, and to explain client expectations for healthcare providers related to spirituality. All identified meanings and themes were compared to the characteristics of spirituality proposed by Betty Neuman in the Neuman systems model to determine the credibility of the model for assessing and guiding holistic nursing practice. Three themes were formulated: a) Spirituality is an individual, conscious, committed connection to God, requiring a human response; b) positive spirituality contributes to personal wholeness and health; and c) spirituality sustains and comforts in times of stress.

The authors of this column, leading members of the International Neuman Systems Model Association, provide an update on the use of Neuman systems model in Holland and document the various changes in The Netherlands that have influenced the use of the model in that country. The model's link to systems theory and stress theory are discussed, as well as a shift to greater emphasis on patient self-management. The model is also linked to healthcare quality improvement and interprofessional collaboration in Holland.

The column is an interview with one of the Neuman trustees. Dr. Lois Lowry shared her experience with the Neuman systems model in curriculum development and evaluation in this dialogue. She shared insights from the development of the international Neuman conference in Holland in June.

Human beings with unmet needs related to their health and illnesses are the central focus of the domain of nursing. It is proposed in this column that nurses who conduct their practice from a nursing theory base, while assisting individuals and families to meet their health needs, are more likely to provide comprehensive, individualized care that exemplifies best practices. The Neuman systems model has been widely acclaimed to guide practice, yet specific examples are few in the published literature. The purpose of this column is to present two case studies based upon Neuman systems model; one case is directed toward family care, and the other demonstrates care with an individual. Theory-based exemplars serve as teaching tools for students and practicing nurses. These case studies illustrate how nurses' actions, directed by Neuman's wholistic principles, integrate evidence-based practice and generate high quality care.

A fim de obter tempo de controle próximo a valores ótimos, procedemos como em [21]: estendemos a solução do problema de Cauchy para tempo complexo e provamos que o operador solução associado ao problema de Cauchy é compacto e depende analiticamente do tempo num setor adequado do plano complexo. Utilizando decaimento local de energia, analiticidade e compacidade do operador solução obtemos o resultado desejado. / Abstract: In this work we study the problem of exact controllability on the boundary for a system of wave equations coupled in parallel, in piecewise smooth domains of the plane, under the action of control of Neuman type. Using the method employed by D. L. Russell in [33] we obtain controllability in time sufficiently large for initial data of finite energy and square integrable control. In order to obtain control time close to optimal values, we proceed as in [21]: we extend the solution of the Cauchy problem to complex time and we prove that the solution operator associated with the Cauchy problem is compact and depends analytically of the time in an appropriate sector of the complex plane. Using local decay of energy, analyticity and compactness of the solution operator we obtain the desired result. / Doutor

Le dialogue entre les écritures poétiques et chorégraphiques permet de questionner les fondements de la création artistique et d’observer le parcours qui s’effectue entre le sujet et le monde qui l’embrasse. Ces deux types d’écriture impliquent un mouvement de déplacement de la relation quotidienne au monde. Le regard poétique se focalise sur un périmètre du paysage, aussi bien spatial que conceptuel, et amène une pluralité de lectures. Dans la danse, la transformation de la sensation ordinaire du mouvement en geste chargé d’intention, permet de véhiculer lesignifié et d’ouvrir une voie interprétative. Dans son oeuvre, l’écrivain-poète Andrés Neuman interroge de façon formelle et thématique la notion de frontière et la simultanéité des temporalités et des espaces, en dialogue avec la danseainsi que la poétique du haïku, comprises comme écritures instantanées qui ne laissent comme trace de son émission que le souvenir immatériel de son image. / The dialogue between poetic and choreographic writings offers the possibility of a reflexion about the fundament of the artistic creation and allows observing the existing distance between the subject and the world that embraces him. Both kinds of writing imply movement, as an image of a displacement of the usual connection to the world. The poetic sight focuses on a landscape’s perimeter, in a spatial as well as in a conceptual level, and generates a plurality of readings andinterpretations. In the field of dance, the transformation of a usual sensation to a gesture filled with intentions, conveys the signified and opens an interpretative line. In his literary work, the writer and poet Andrés Neuman questions, in a formal as well as in a thematic level, the notion of frontier and the simultaneity of temporalities and spaces. This opens a dialogue with dance expression and the poetic of the haiku, both considered as an instantaneouswriting that only lets the immaterial memory of their image, as a trace of their emission.

Recent national surveys in the United States estimate one in five females will experience abuse by an intimate partner during her lifetime. Previous quantitative research linked childhood victimization to repeated victimization in adult relationships. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of childhood in eight female victims of intimate partner violence who were born and reared in southern Appalachia. Interviews were analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative phenomenological method, as described by Van Manen. The three essential themes from childhood were identified as: living 'as if' an orphan; surviving in chaos; and, manifesting a devalued self. These themes were congruent with findings from quantitative literature regarding family violence. After analyzing the data, it was found that the Neuman Systems Model provided a comprehensive perspective for linking the data to a nursing theoretical framework that is used to guide practice, education and research; thus extending nursing science. Through increased awareness of personal stories, previous negative attitudes toward victims can be altered and behaviors changed, leading to improved nursing care.
