Teacher education for apprentice instructors

Unknown Date (has links)
This paper is prepared in two sections. The first section is a summation of the opinion of leading educators, and others, in the area of vocational industrial education, as regards management, labor and the public schools' responsibility for the administration of an efficient program of training apprentices for the skilled trades. The second section--which is an appendix to the paper--is prepared in the form of a handbook. The objective of this handbook is an attempt to follow the thinking of these persons by condensing and coordinating the essential ideas of their writings and experiences and compiling a practical, usable teacher training guide for instructors of apprenticeship classes. The specific objective of the handbook is to improve instruction. It will be used for both pre-service and in-service teacher training. / Typescript. / "August, 1961." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / Advisor: Edward K. Hankin, Professor Directing Paper. / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 34-36).

Analýza českých pomůcek pro kajícníky vydaných po roce 1990 / Analytical Survey of Czech Manuals for Penitents Issued after 1990

Kunc, Ondřej January 2015 (has links)
Title Analytical Survey of Czech Manuals for Penitents Issued after 1990 Abstract The thesis is based on a description and analysis of the manuals for penitents that were issued in the Czech Republic after 1990. These manuals (confessional mirrors) are designed as aids in the preparation for the Sacrament of Penance. Since 1990 the religious literature may be freely published in our country and the focus of the thesis is put on the manuals published since then. To assess the materials competently, the thesis at first deals with the theology of the Sacrament of Penance as such. The central part of the thesis presents different aids for penitents, comes with their basic description and with the evaluation of their handiness (for which group of penitents or for which occasion is the manual fit). This analysis will be followed by the description and evaluation of the manuals for confessors that provide a practical aid for the improvement of the priestly service. The different ways of practical fitness of these tools will be assessed. The main aim of the thesis consists in providing an insight into different manuals for penitents and to facilitate the orientation among them to help with the choice of a fitting tool in concrete cases. Another goal of the thesis is to facilitate the orientation among the manuals...

The effect of a video presentation and reference guide manual of helicopter safety instruction on the knowledge base of medical transport nurses

Stcikney, K. Linda 01 January 1989 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of trained transport nurses being oriented to a new helicopter by a video presentation and reference guide manual educational program when compared with trained transport nurses being trained by actual hands-on demonstration. Using a posttest-only design and the t test for independent samples, it was found that the two groups of nurses did not differ statistically (t (9) = 0.318, p < .051).

Securing Services for the Older Population : a Training Manual for I and R Workers

Nemmert, Catherine M. 01 January 1976 (has links)
This manual is written as a self-training guide on the elements of Information and Referral (I and R) service and on the process of providing I and R to the older population. The manual attempts to build a useful framework for methods of providing I and R service. The manual is directed at workers who are providing I and R services to the elderly. It is intended to serve as an orientation guide on the basic elements of I and R service and as a "how to" guide for methods and techniques of service provision. The new worker should find the manual helpful as a basic training tool and the experienced worker who may wish to use the material to assess or strengthen his/her current practices. Information and Referral services for the elderly were given high priority in the 1973 amendments to the Older Americans Act which established a goal of providing "reasonably convenient access" to I and R services for all older persons in this country. Numerous organizations are involved in providing this service, ranging from small senior centers to large public bureaucracies. With this assortment of organizations, there are differences in interpretations and methods of providing I and R service. land R is provided over the telephone, in office settings and through outreach efforts. This manual was written in an attempt to pull together basic information on the elements and dimensions of I and R service provision, that would be useful for all I and R workers securing services for the elderly. The manual is organized in three self-contained chapters which can be used separately for the specific topic areas or together as a comprehensive training guide. Each chapter is followed by exercises which enable the worker to practice specific techniques and to apply information obtained in the text to his/her work situation. Chapter I serves as an overview and should furnish the worker with a historical perspective and an understanding of the basic elements of I and R service. Chapter II focuses on the process of I and R service provision and the interaction between the worker and the consumer. Chapter III presents techniques and guidelines for providing I and R service. An appendix of suggested readings is also included. The manual is most profitably used when followed by discussion with a supervisor or co-worker.

A study of form and content for a laboratory manual to be used by students in general chemistry laboratory

Broadbent, Berne P. 01 January 1946 (has links)
This investigation was carried out for general chemistry classes in which recitation and laboratory work are closely integrated and in which very close supervision is given to laboratory classes. Results indicate that there are fewer failures under these conditions if students do individual work. Students receiving grades of over 80% seem to work just as effectively in pairs as they do when working individually, but about 5% who fail when working in pairs could, apparently obtain grades above 60% if they did individual work. The formal full statement type of report is substantially more effective than the questionaire report as indicated by mid-term and final laboratory examination grades. These examinations were made up to include 20% actual performance in laboratory skill and technique. They show an average grade which is 5.2% higher for those making formal reports even though this group did fewer experiments and took the tests covering all experiments performed by either group. The testing of single experiments shows that quite a variation exists in those experiments designed to teach the same principle. This testing also indicates that experiments on some topics contribute a great deal more to the general achievement of the student than do those on some other topics. A wider use of the method might be applied in making experiment selections for a laboratory course.

The development of a handbook for marketing the community college

White, Edward Thornton January 1980 (has links)
1. Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this study was to develop a conceptual model for a marketing approach for administering community colleges. This model was based on Eugene McCarthy's marketing model which provides for emphasizing customer needs and developing the product, price, promotion, and place variables in relationship to customer needs and institutional resources. The concept of the model was developed as an operational tool in the form of a handbook for marketing the community college. 2. Methods and Procedures: The literature and "juries of experts" were used to develop the criteria for and content of the handbook. After the literature review two community college presidents were interviewed to determine the criteria for the handbook. Using the literature and the interview findings an outline, Preface, and one chapter were written and sent to six community college presidents for review and comments. The entire handbook was then written, using the literature, the jury members' criteria for acceptance and the researcher's knowledge of marketing. A draft of the handbook was sent to twenty-one college administrators and faculty, along with a ten-question, open ended questionnaire. The reviews of this jury were summarized for the purpose of revising the handbook. 3. Conclusions: Although there is a growing interest in the use of marketing techniques by community college administrators, most of them do not know the proper procedures to use in order to accomplish their marketing goals. There was not a handbook, book, or manual available that addressed the entire procedure for marketing the community college. The handbook which was developed during this study was judged by the reviewers to be of value to the community college administrator who is interested in using marketing techniques. / Ed. D.
