Filantropie a bohatství společnosti / Analysis of Gift-giving in Czech Society after 1989Duchoslavová, Romana January 2009 (has links)
The objective of this theses is to explore the development of gift-giving in Czech Republic after the velvet revolution in 1989. First part of the theses deals with the theoretical basis of altruism and philanthropy. The gift-giving explored in the theses is viewed as a specific case when the beneficient does not know the beneficiary. This specific case is then discussed with the theoretical aspect of altruism and philanthropy. Further on the civil society and its connection to the gift-giving is observed and the role of the foundations in czech society reflected. The analysis of the gift-giving is provided in the second part of the theses, based on the financial history of four czech foundations. A clear cut trend is not obvious, thus some other aspects coming out of the analysis are accented.

Aktéři ekonomické globalizace, občanská společnost a stát / Actors of economic globalization, civil society and the stateRohrbacher, Tomáš January 2006 (has links)
Presented thesis focuses on civil society within the context of ongoing processes of globalization. The core of disputed issues lies in creation of relationships between the actors of civil society (with stress on alter-globalization movement) and institutions of international governance (with accent on multilateral economic institutions -- WB, IMF, WTO). The thesis analyzes concepts of (global) civil society and functions which civil society fulfills in relations to centres of political power -- traditionally towards the state, currently also towards international governance institutions. It deals also with preconditions of creation and existence of global civil society (post-material middle-class, cosmopolitism and the role of the internet). Theoretical chapters are supported by empirical datas which are analysed especially regarding alter-globalist discourse, self-definition of the actors and current state of relationships between civil society and WB, IMF and WTO. Applied research shows that these institutions open themselves to the control of public and civil society (although with different pace) in levels of transparency, accountability and access, and thus civil society contributes to their democratization.

Účast veřejnosti na rozhodovacích procesech v oblasti ochrany životního prostředí / Public participation in decision-making in the field of environmental protectionŠvecová, Jana January 2010 (has links)
The first three sections are devoted to the theory work. It focuses mainly on the legislation that governs the public's right to environmental information and participation in decisions on matters relating to the environment. Important international document in this field is Aarhus Convention (i.e. Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters). The work also deals with the Czech legal standards that follow this convention. Other parts of the thesis have focused specifically on civic associations, particularly on how they occur, what their possibilities to participate in decision-making processes and what their rights and obligations. The work deals with the activity of selected civic associations in Prague. Focusing only on Prague is due to better availability. I mention here how many civic associations are registered in Prague, that are involved in decision-making and if so, what kind of environment have the greatest interest.
