Benešová, Šárka January 2015 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to provide the assessment of trade-quality relationship for European Union. This thesis is beneficial as it answers the question if quality substantively affects traded volume and economic development in EU. Further, it should be helpful to decision making procedure concerning international trade as it identifies exported product characteristics which can lead to faster economic growth. This thesis verifies whether export sophistication positively influences traded volume in 27 members of the EU (Luxembourg is excluded due to limits in data) in year 2013. The most recent innovations in quality measurement and estimation technique, the quality index and two stages of gravity model of international trade are applied in this thesis to be the most accurate and up-to-date as possible. This thesis confirms that sophistication in EU presents significant factor of products and the rise in quality helps to more intensive trade and can result in faster economic growth. The result was checked for possible biases in two specifications, in single country and industry level estimations. The importance of quality for trade was supported in all these concretizations.

Hofman, Pavel January 2015 (has links)
With the continuing process of globalization, national economies are intensively interconnecting with external enviroment. It is especially visible for Czech Republic, which geopolitical position stresses the importance of external business relationships. Economic prosperity of countries with open economy is largely determined by export performance and inflow of foreign direct investments, both of which are supported by economic diplomacy. The first scope of this thesis is to evaluate the economic diplomacy of Czech Republic, and secondly to empirically analyze the tools, which economic diplomacy is using - foreign visits of polititians and role of embassies. The gravity model of international trade was used to study the influence of both tools on the foreign trade and investment in Czech Republic between years 1993-2013. The results show, that if at least one visit per year was realized, the export grows by 14%. However, one average high official visit is associated with rising exports by about 4.7%. On the other hand, any realtionship with FDI was not found. Further analysis confirms the importance of the embassies and thier positive impact on foreign trade, in particular with culturally distant countries, where this effect is more pronounced. Futhermore the study showed fading effect of economic...

Právní aspekty paralelního obchodu s léčivy v EU / Legal aspects of a parallel trade in drugs within the EU

Bečvářová, Tereza January 2014 (has links)
5.Abstract Title: Legal aspects of a parallel trade in drugs within the EU Key words: single market, parallel trade, price regulation, pharmaceuticals Parallel trade is one of the most distinctive benefits of the European single market. In a simplified way, parallel trade is legal importing of drug from one country where it is legally marketed into a second country where the marketing authorization holder also markets that product, but without the consent of the marketing authorization holder. Price regulation of medical products makes parallel trade of drugs questionable. Final price for customer is not result of an independent decision of pharmaceutical company but it is given by relevant authority often regarding the spending power of citizens. Wholesalers are taking advantage of these price differences when they are buying cheap drugs in low-price countries and selling them with profit in countries where drug price are higher. In theory this practice should deliver significant saving for patient and national healthcare insurance system in destination countries due to lower price of parallel traded drugs. However many studies show minimum impact on drug price in these countries since wholesalers retain great part of the financial benefits. On the other hand, negatives of parallel trade are evident. Drug...

The main trade routes crossing the region of the Roman province of Syria are divided geographically into southern and northern routes, and to the routes leading westwards from Palmyra or Antioch to the Mediterranean ports. I also explored the caravan trade of south Arabia mediated by the Nabateans, and its development according to Roman provincial policy. According to the analyzed sources, the decline of the Nabatean trade is examined. The decline was primarily caused by the Roman effort to weaken the influence of the Nabatean kingdom. The Main Determinants of European Trade Integration

Spivacenco, Carolina January 2011 (has links)
The importance of international trade cannot be neglected as it represents an important channel of wealth creation in the actual globalised world. Thus, the present writer aims to identify how the commercial flows have changed after the adoption of Euro and once the financial crisis has burst. Furthermore the main factors that influence trade are researched by using the gravitational econometric model and employing panel data for 14 EU member countries. The results show that the intensity of commercial exchanges are highly influenced by the level of development (GDP) of the country and the amount of FDI that are attracted, while the use of a common currency appears to be not too significant. At the same time, indicators are more sensible during the crisis period than the stable one, hence even small changes in independent variables can lead to higher decrease in trade. Key words: European trade, liberalization, competitiveness, financial crisis, contagion, Euro, gravitational model.
