MileageAIDE : a system for business mileage tracking

Chandler, Paul Adam 23 April 2013 (has links)
This report describes the MileageAIDE system for recording the business mileage of a vehicle. The system consists of a mobile application for an Android phone and a hardware device connected to the vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostic port (OBD-II). The two interact via Bluetooth to record the time and odometer value for every trip in the vehicle and remind the user to classify the trip as business or personal. The result is a system that is easy to install, easy to use, inexpensive and keeps detailed and accurate records that are acceptable for reporting to an employer for reimbursement or as business expenses on a tax return. / text

Χρήση της διεπαφής OBD-II για τη διάγνωση βλαβών και τη λήψη δεδομένων τηλεμετρίας σε αυτοκίνητα / Using OBD-II interface for fault diagnosis and telemetry data collection for cars

Αθανασόπουλος, Κωνσταντίνος 06 December 2013 (has links)
In this thesis a scan tool is developed for vehicles' CAN buses (CAN - controller area network - bus) in order to obtain data for fault diagnosis and receiving telemetry data in real time. The interface can be used to export data to help in diagnosing faults before they become costly, to study the function of the car in real time, to confirm proper operation or to gather data for improving performance etc. In this thesis an OBD scanner is developed that uses the communication protocols supported by OBD-II interface in order to collect data from car buses and sends it to a bundled software for presentation and further processing for extracting useful information and draw further conclusions.

Aplikace pro sběr a vyhodnocení dat z rozhraní OBDII pro Android / Application for Data Acquisition and Processing from OBDII Interface

Kabelka, Michal January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is focused on obtaining data from a car via the OBDII interface. A successive analysis of the measured values, car sensors, control systems and communication principles between them is done. Basic principles for creating Android mobile applications have been also summarized here. However, the main focus is on designing an application which uses a microcontroller ELM327 to communicate with the electronic systems of a real car. The application shows the obtained data in a form that enables the driver to improve his/her driving habits in terms of fuel economy. The application also demonstrates communication with a car outside of the OBDII standard, in this scenario, by controlling a built-in radio in the car.

Real-Time Vehicle Performance Monitoring with Data Integrity

Jenkins, William George 09 December 2006 (has links)
A cornerstone of next generation intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is a seamless integration of in-vehicle networking with existing wireless telephony infrastructure. Remote access to on-board diagnostics and performance data is a crucial requirement for ITS. This thesis investigated the performance benefits of a data integrity buffering technique for an extensible vehicle position and performance tracking system (VPPTS). In support of this investigation, a VPPTS prototype was developed. The prototype used available technologies and interfaces to industry-standard communications channels and is a demonstration of a next-generation intelligent transportation system (ITS). The data integrity buffering technique under investigation was shown to provide quantitative improvements in successful VPPTS data transmissions. The use of this technique addressed important deficiencies in real-time data transmission for these types of systems over wireless networks.

OBD-II monitor using smartphone and cloud solutions : For ECO driving

Olofsson, Didrik January 2022 (has links)
Fuel consumption of transportation vehicles account for nearly 27% of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel. The environmental impact of of transportation can be lowered with effective ECOfriendly driving. As modern vehicles are equipped with the on-board diagnostics (OBD) system that provides vehicle’s self-diagnostic data which is accessible to from the OBD-II socket in vehicles. The aim of this thesis is to design and implement such a monitor system that consists of an OBD-II reader (containing a Bluetooth communication module) to fetch data from the OBD-II socket and then, via a smartphone, send the data to a cloud server for analysis and visualisation. For this purpose, an ELM327 Bluetooth module (an off-the-shelf OBD-II dongle) was bought, an application has been created for an Android smartphone, and a cloud server has been created using ThinkSpeak (an online solution for cloud data collection and visualisation).   As a result, such monitor system has been implemented at low cost, and then tested and evaluated together with a Toyota Prius driving a round-trip between the Swedish cities of Uppsala and Arlanda. The test results have shown that the system is successful in gathering data from the OBD-II socket and then sending visualizing data. It needs, however, further work to increase the user-friendliness and accuracy of the gathered information from the vehicle.

Malina, Jakub January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis, processed under the name: External system of measuring parameters of vehicles with support of diagnostic protocols integrated in Ethernet networkon a cylindrical dynamometer, deals with the definition of parameter variables that are important for vehicle tests on a cylindrical dynamometer. After determining these variables, a measuring module, which is designed to retrieve data from individual sensors located in the vehicle, is implemented via an OBD II diagnostic connector connected to the vehicle data bus CAN-BUS. The measuring module is integrated into the existing cylindrical dynamometer system at the Mendel University Testing Center in Brno, where the system was tested on a real vehicle.
