MileageAIDE : a system for business mileage tracking

Chandler, Paul Adam 23 April 2013 (has links)
This report describes the MileageAIDE system for recording the business mileage of a vehicle. The system consists of a mobile application for an Android phone and a hardware device connected to the vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostic port (OBD-II). The two interact via Bluetooth to record the time and odometer value for every trip in the vehicle and remind the user to classify the trip as business or personal. The result is a system that is easy to install, easy to use, inexpensive and keeps detailed and accurate records that are acceptable for reporting to an employer for reimbursement or as business expenses on a tax return. / text

Χρήση της διεπαφής OBD-II για τη διάγνωση βλαβών και τη λήψη δεδομένων τηλεμετρίας σε αυτοκίνητα / Using OBD-II interface for fault diagnosis and telemetry data collection for cars

Αθανασόπουλος, Κωνσταντίνος 06 December 2013 (has links)
In this thesis a scan tool is developed for vehicles' CAN buses (CAN - controller area network - bus) in order to obtain data for fault diagnosis and receiving telemetry data in real time. The interface can be used to export data to help in diagnosing faults before they become costly, to study the function of the car in real time, to confirm proper operation or to gather data for improving performance etc. In this thesis an OBD scanner is developed that uses the communication protocols supported by OBD-II interface in order to collect data from car buses and sends it to a bundled software for presentation and further processing for extracting useful information and draw further conclusions.

OBD-II monitor using smartphone and cloud solutions : For ECO driving

Olofsson, Didrik January 2022 (has links)
Fuel consumption of transportation vehicles account for nearly 27% of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel. The environmental impact of of transportation can be lowered with effective ECOfriendly driving. As modern vehicles are equipped with the on-board diagnostics (OBD) system that provides vehicle’s self-diagnostic data which is accessible to from the OBD-II socket in vehicles. The aim of this thesis is to design and implement such a monitor system that consists of an OBD-II reader (containing a Bluetooth communication module) to fetch data from the OBD-II socket and then, via a smartphone, send the data to a cloud server for analysis and visualisation. For this purpose, an ELM327 Bluetooth module (an off-the-shelf OBD-II dongle) was bought, an application has been created for an Android smartphone, and a cloud server has been created using ThinkSpeak (an online solution for cloud data collection and visualisation).   As a result, such monitor system has been implemented at low cost, and then tested and evaluated together with a Toyota Prius driving a round-trip between the Swedish cities of Uppsala and Arlanda. The test results have shown that the system is successful in gathering data from the OBD-II socket and then sending visualizing data. It needs, however, further work to increase the user-friendliness and accuracy of the gathered information from the vehicle.

Malina, Jakub January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis, processed under the name: External system of measuring parameters of vehicles with support of diagnostic protocols integrated in Ethernet networkon a cylindrical dynamometer, deals with the definition of parameter variables that are important for vehicle tests on a cylindrical dynamometer. After determining these variables, a measuring module, which is designed to retrieve data from individual sensors located in the vehicle, is implemented via an OBD II diagnostic connector connected to the vehicle data bus CAN-BUS. The measuring module is integrated into the existing cylindrical dynamometer system at the Mendel University Testing Center in Brno, where the system was tested on a real vehicle.

Development of an internal combustion engine fuel map model based on on-board acquisition.

Steckelberg, Danilo Brito 01 November 2016 (has links)
It is presented a methodology to describe the engine performance map (or the engine fuel map) for an internal combustion engine as a function of its operating conditions (engine speed and torque) based on on-board measurements. It is used a combination of GPS measurements for vehicle speed and road grade together with a OBD-II acquisition system in order to acquire information provided by CAN network, such as engine speed and fuel consumption. A methodology to calculate the engine torque based on speed and acceleration measurements is shown with an average uncertainty in the range of 2% to 5% for torque calculation in normal operating conditions. It is presented a detailed breakdown of the contribution of individual parameters in torque calculation uncertainty. A polynomial regression model to describe the engine fuel map is presented and the coefficients for this model is calculated based on on-road measurements for 5 different vehicles to prove the accuracy of the proposed methodology. The correlation coefficients obtained for these measurements are within the range of 0.797 to 0.997 and three out of five vehicles with correlation coefficient higher than 0.910, proving the methodology robust.

In this diploma thesis, an On Board Diagnostics system (OBD-II) was studied, designed and created. This type of system is of utmost importance to a great variety of users such as professional engineers and individuals. Its main purposes are to inform the user about all the different parameters of the vehicle and to identify potential malfunctions. To accomplish these tasks, a PCB circuit was designed and manufactured, which is responsible for the correct transmission and reception of OBD-II messages between a developed PC software and the vehicle. In order to test the circuit and the designed application, an ECU Simulator was used.
