Moderní aktivní prvky a jejich chování v lineárních blocích / Modern active elements and their behavior in linear circuit blocks

Kosztyu, Tomáš January 2009 (has links)
The topic of this master’s thesis was a frequency filters and their realization using modern active elements like UVC, UCC, VFA, CFA and OTA. The base point of this thesis was designed frequency filters with these active elements, when the shape of the transfer function will be identical for all structures and compare the characteristics of active elements. The proposed frequency filters are second order with one or two active elements. In the first part of thesis are discussed basic properties of frequency filters, their properties and distribution. Next are described the general characteristics of active filters and their basic elements such as operational amplifier OTA, VFA and CFA, and recently more frequently used voltage and current conveyor. The second part is the frequency filters designed with these elements is the same transfer function. Subsequently, simulations are done all the filters and obtained the frequency response. Finally, these filters are experimentally made and made practical measurements.

Nelineární obvodové struktury s proudovými a napěťovými konvejory / Nonlinear circuit structures using current and voltage conveyors

Gabriel, Viktor January 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with the use of active components in nonlinear circuits. First the variants of the current and voltage conveyors are theoretically described. Then the thesis deals with the design of the new curcuit structures with nonlinear components, which comes out from the former known realizations. Several possible solutions of the examined circuit have been designed and the most convenient structure has been selected. The chosen solution has been thoroughly analysed in subsequent diploma thesis to enable comparison of the theoretically designed circuit with the practically realized one.

Nelineární obvody s řízenými proudovými zdroji / Non-linear Circuits with Controlled Current Sources

Dolák, Jan January 2010 (has links)
This thesis treats of problems of nonlinear circuits. In introduction the basic possibilities of solving nonlinear circuits are described. Then the basic information on modern current active elements is mentioned, for example current follower, current operational amplifier and current conveyor. In the next part of this thesis the problem of real characteristics of semiconductor diodes is described, major attention is focused on reverse recovery time. Three various types of circuits with nonlinear elements are described in this masters thesis. The first type of circuits are diode precision rectifiers, the full-wave rectifiers containing voltage operational amplifier are most explored, current follower and other active components are described in previous chapters. Simulations in PSpice were executed for each of these circuits. Then the attention was devoted to increase of maximum working frequence. The minimum necessary amplitude of input signal was also analyzed. In the following part two designs of diode function converters are processed, function converter with voltage operational amplifier and function converter with current follower. For each of the diode function converters designed, simulations were executed to find their real properties. The variety of diode voltage limiters and diode current limiters are the third type of nonlinear circuits described, from which the upper limiter and double limiter are investigated in more detail. Simulations were executed for all limiters and their functionality and problems connected with their usage for limitation of high frequency signals were analyzed. In the last part of the thesis there is described the practical realization of precise rectifier, which showed the best ability to process high frequency signals of all investigated circuits. This circuit was realized so that it is able to operate in current and mixed mode. Measured values of real circuits were compared with values gained from the simulations.

Analytical and Experimental Performance Analysis of Enhanced Wake-Up Receivers Based on Low-Power Base-Band Amplifiers

Schott, Lydia, Fromm, Robert, Bouattour, Ghada, Kanoun, Olfa, Derbel, Faouzi 09 June 2023 (has links)
With the introduction of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in several sectors, wireless, reliable, and energy-saving communication in distributed sensor networks are more important than ever. Thereby, wake-up technologies are becoming increasingly important as they significantly contribute to reducing the energy consumption of wireless sensor nodes. In an indoor environment, the use of wireless sensors, in general, is more challenging due to signal fading and reflections and needs, therefore, to be critically investigated. This paper discusses the performance analysis of wakeup receiver (WuRx) architectures based on two low frequency (LF) amplifier approaches with regard to sensitivity, power consumption, and package error rate (PER). Factors that affect systems were compared and analyzed by analytical modeling, simulation results, and experimental studies with both architectures. The developedWuRx operates in the 868MHz band using on-off-keying (OOK) signals while supporting address detection to wake up only the targeted network node. By using an indoor setup, the signal strength and PER of received signal strength indicator (RSSI) in different rooms and distances were determined to build a wireless sensor network. The results show a wake-up packets (WuPts) detection probability of about 90% for an interior distance of up to 34 m.

Silicon-germanium devices and circuits for high temperature applications

Thomas, Dylan Buxton 08 April 2010 (has links)
Using bandgap engineering, silicon-germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS technology effectively combines III-V transistor performance with the cost and integration advantages associated with CMOS manufacturing. The suitability of SiGe technology for cryogenic and radiation-intense environments is well known, yet SiGe has been generally overlooked for applications involving extreme high temperature operation. This work is an investigation into the potential capabilities of SiGe technology for operation up to 300°C, including the development of packaging and testing procedures to enable the necessary measurements. At the device level, SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs), field-effect transistors (FETs), and resistors are verified to maintain acceptable functionality across the temperature range, laying the foundation for high temperature circuit design. This work also includes the characterization of existing bandgap references circuits, redesign for high temperature operation, validation, and further optimization recommendations. In addition, the performance of temperature sensor, operational amplifier, and output buffer circuits under extreme high temperature conditions is presented. To the author's knowledge, this work represents the first demonstration of functional circuits from a SiGe technology platform in ambient temperatures up to 300°C; furthermore, the optimized bandgap reference presented in this work is believed to show the best performance recorded across a 500°C range in a bulk-silicon technology platform.
