This study concerns the possibilities of ergodiagnostics (pre-work rehabilitation), appraisal diagnostics, in the area of employment of medically handicapped people. It emphasises the value of work and being employed for the medically disadvantaged. It familiarises those interested with this matter with the means of a complete system of rehabilitation where occupational rehabilitation is irreplaceable. The study informs where legislation on (pre-work) ergodiagnostics can be found, through vocational rehabilitation we discover more detailed information and furthermore what a medically disadvantaged person should do to be able to participate actively in ergodiagnostics. It also offers a thorough overview of ergotherapy which plays an important role in diagnostics, particularly ergodiagnostics of medically handicapped people. It leads you through individual evaluations which are currently used by ergotherapists in complete rehabilitation centres where ergodiagnostics is practised. It is not only ergotherapists, however, who participate in vocational rehabilitation but a whole multi-discipline team which cooperates with job centres. The practical part is oriented on the field of ergodiagnostics or else vocational rehabilitation. Two suppositions were made for the research. The first supposition explores how well-informed people with a medical handicap are about ergodiagnostics. The second then assumes that ergodiagnostics plays a significant role in searching for suitable vacancies for the medically handicapped. The study should serve as informative material for all interested in the problem concerned. It should be especially useful to those who work with the medically handicapped and who want to have an integral view of (pre-work) ergodiagnostics, vocational rehabilitation.

International agreements, Czech constitutional law and labour code ensure an equal treatment in a job, equal chances and the right to have satisfactory work conditions. Furthermore it is stipulated that handicapped persons can claim a higher level of health protection when working, special work conditions, special protection in work relations and assistance in career preparation in order to prevent discrimination. Even though the society provides higher protection to handicapped people, problems with their employment are still deepening. The objective of the present diploma thesis was to give an insight in this situation. The main goal of this thesis was to determine the effectiveness of benefits provided by the Labour Office in České Budějovice. A sub-goal was to ascertain employers{\crq} comments on the benefits which are provided by the Labour Office in České Budějovice. The supposed hypothesis to the main goal reads: ``The higher the amount of benefits, the smaller the number of handicapped job seekers recorded with the Labour Office. And thus benefits are considered effective.{\crq}q The supposed hypothesis to the sub-goal is: ``Employers{\crq} comments are related to the insufficient amount of the benefits to support employment of handicapped people.{\crq}q In order to achieve the main goal in the research, the author applied analysis of documents, the quantitative technique, secondary analysis of data, making use of statistics from 2004 to the end of 2008 provided by the Labour Office in České Budějovice. In order to achieve the sub-goal, the author applied one of questioning methods {--} the quantitative technique of a questionnaire, which was given to an employer who employs more than 50 % handicapped people and who does his business in the district of České Budějovice. The supposed hypothesis to the main goal has not been confirmed by the research. The research has shown an increasing amount of benefits paid to employers and at the same time an increasing number of handicapped job seekers recorded with the Labour Office. The supposed hypothesis to the sub-goal has not been confirmed either.

The research was effectuated in the form of semi-structured discussion. Further necessary information was obtained on the basis of secondary analysis of documents and by means of observation. The main research question was answerd on the basis of inermediate questions. The first intermediate question described how the needs of the clients are satisfied in the establishment. It was apparent from the research that the clients perceive the satisfaction of their needs positively. Unfortunately, the need of love is not satisfied for the most respondents and that due to the unstable family background. Teh second reserch question was concentrated on ascertainment how the establishment influences the lifequality of the clients. It is evident from the research that the establishment influences the lifequality of respondents positively and that thanks to mobilizing activities and to the efforts enabling these people to live a normal life to the greatest possible extent. The third intermedite question investigated the impact of the family on the clients. Due to the fact that the most repomdents come to see the family environment only occasionally or not at all, the answer to this question is negative. The lifequality of a great deal of respondents is not influenced by the family positively. In spite of this unpleasant fact the main research question reading {\clq}qHow the clients of the estabishment Social services Česká in Jindřichův Hradec perceive the quality of their life`` can be answered positively. Although the clients of the establishment have to face disadvantages because of their handicap, they consider the quality of their life to be a good one.
