The diffusion study on Chinese outbound tourism —Based on “diffusion of innovations” theory

Li, Dan January 2015 (has links)
From 1983 in which year Chinese people started being allowed to travel to the first outbound destination to nowadays that more than 150 countries have signed the ADS (approved destination status) with Chinese government, Chinese outbound tourism had a great progress in 32 years. During these years, more and more Chinese tourists could be seen in different places in the world. In 2014, the number of Chinese outbound tourists firstly achieve to over 100 million. The numbers are predicted to continue by 2020. It is meaningful to put Chinese outbound tourism as an object and discover its future development. Therefore, the aim of this study is set as to analyse the future diffusion of Chinese outbound tourism. The available theoretical foundation is diffusion theory (Rogers, 2003). Its mature and practical theoretical system guides the research framework of this study. This theory is reliable for analysing and discussing the diffusion of Chinese outbound tourism from some aspects such as S-shaped curve, communication channels, adopter classification, etc.  A questionnaire survey and some hypothetical indicators are designed in this study to fulfil the aim and research questions. Results are described from several aspects. The analysis of results prove that Chinese outbound tourism could be reckoned as an innovation. Finally, conclusions show that Chinese outbound tourism is currently going through the developing process between ‘innovators’ and ‘early adopters’. If the influencing factors which derived based on diffusion theory could be developed or solved positively, it is possible for Chinese outbound tourism to develop continually following the S-shaped curve in the future. The influencing factors has been studied out. They are the communication channels, the conscious gap between people who live in cities and people who live in towns and villages, the wealth gap between rich people and poor people. Not many related implementations are given out in this study, which needs future researches to explore.

Predicting Transit Times For Outbound Logistics

Brooke Renee Cochenour (8996768) 23 June 2020 (has links)
On-time delivery of supplies to industry is essential because delays can disrupt production schedules. The aim of the proposed application is to predict transit times for outbound logistics thereby allowing suppliers to plan for timely mitigation of risks during shipment planning. The predictive model consists of a classifier that is trained for each specific source-destination pair using historical shipment, weather, and social media data. The model estimates the transit times for future shipments using Support Vector Machine (SVM). These estimates were validated using four case study routes of varying distances in the United States. A predictive model is trained for each route. The results show that the contribution of each input feature to the predictive ability of the model varies for each route. The mean average error (MAE) values of the model vary for each route due to the availability of testing and training historical shipment data as well as the availability of weather and social media data. In addition, it was found that the inclusion of the historical traffic data provided by INRIX™ improves the accuracy of the model. Sample INRIX™ data was available for one of the routes. One of the main limitations of the proposed approach is the availability of historical shipment data and the quality of social media data. However, if the data is available, the proposed methodology can be applied to any supplier with high volume shipments in order to develop a predictive model for outbound transit time delays over any land route.

Travel behaviour of Chinese tourists living in the city of Beijing, China / Sun Minghui

Sun, Minghui January 2007 (has links)
The Chinese outbound tourism market has experienced rapid growth over the past few years. This noticeable development provides the background and rationale for the study that identifies the travel behaviour of Chinese tourists, and the expectation and perception regarding South Africa. Based on the findings, some recommendations for marketing strategies and implementation are given, in addition to suggestions for future research directions in this field. The theoretical discussion focuses on concepts of travel behaviour. Travel behaviour, including travel motivation, decision-making process, and destination choice are then presented in more detail. The development of the Chinese economy and Chinese outbound tourism are also presented and discussed. The empirical research focuses on the travel behaviour of Chinese outbound tourists. The goal here is to determine and analyse the travel behaviour of tourists, outbound from Beijing, and their views on South Africa as a tourism destination. To accomplish this, the empirical research is designed from the quantitative perspective, and the data was collected by fieldworkers at the Beijing International Airport, using intercept surveys. This helps the researcher to understand the needs, motivation, and behaviour of the Chinese outbound tourists and assists the researcher in analysing the marketing strategy of South Africa as a tourist destination. / Thesis (M.Com. The research of relationship between recognition of changing in external environment, career anchor and willing to resign from job. An example of credit department of farmers¡¦ association in Taipei county.

Chen, Chien-Lang 26 January 2002 (has links)
Abstract Title of dissertation¡GThe research of relationship between recognition of changing in external environment, career anchor and willing to resign from job. An example of credit department of farmers¡¦ association in Taipei county. Outline of dissertation¡G The role of credit department of farmers¡¦ association was quite important in the early age of agricultural development in Taiwan. However, the survival opportunity of those organizations has been affected by revolution of ages, changing in society and external environment in Taiwan. This research will focus on the point of view of employees who work for credit department of farmers¡¦ association. Their viewpoints are influenced by the establishment of sixteen private banks which resulted in strong competition in banking industry in 1991 to depositors who wanted to withdraw their money eagerly from fundamental financial institutions because those organizations were in the edge of bankruptcy until Taiwan joins World Trade Organization ¡]WTO¡^. It conducts 203 questioners from employees who work for 10-credit department of a farmers¡¦ associations, which locate on Taipei County. The results of this research result from the statistical analysis of four variables. They are the cognition of changing in external environment; career anchor, willing to resign and the outbound after resign. According to the results of statistic, there are eight features: 1¡B Different employees have obvious differences in recognition of changing environment, career anchor, resigned willing and outbound after resign. 2¡B There is positive relation between the level of business environment crisis recognition and resigned willing. 3¡B There is negative relation between cognition of future development of organization and resigned willing. 4¡B The level of business environment crisis recognition has a little bit of positive relation with outbound after resign. 5¡B Career anchor has obvious affect to resign willing and outbound after resign. 6¡B The interaction between level of business environment crisis recognition and anchor of security of job and service/challenge has a little bit of influence to resigned willing. 7¡B The interaction between level of recognition for development of organization in the future and gender has a little bit of influence to resigned willing. 8¡B Different dimensions in cognition of environmental variation have obvious difference with career anchor. According to the results of research, there are six suggestions to credit department of farmers¡¦ association as follows¡G1.reposition the strategies of organization. 2. Re-examine core products and core competence. 3. Breed the human resource that has knowledge management ability. 4. Breed the people who have ability to select strategy. 5. Carry out the demand in training. 6. Respect the career development and career anchor of employees. Keywords: business environment, career anchor, resign, outbound after resign, farmers¡¦ association

Model terminálu VSAT / VSAT Terminal Model

Kudlička, Miroslav January 2010 (has links)
This work deals with the description of the communication using the VSAT satellite network. A used network topology, frequency bands, satellite orbits and also an access technology are defined. The next part is focused on the VSAT terminal, where the block diagram is shown. A model of the indoor unit IDU is designed in the system background of Ansoft Designer. Individual parts of the system model are analyzed in terms of input variables. The results of the simulation are shown. The curves of BER before Viterbi decoding and after Viterbi decoding are shown too.

Environmentálne zohľadnenia v dlhodobej logistickej zmluve / Environmental considerations in long-term transportation contract

Hanusková, Martina January 2010 (has links)
Final thesis focuses on a new trend in logistics -- environmental considerations in supply chain and innovations connected with cargo transportation. Nowadays, due to diminishing trade barriers, goods are transported across longer distances, which results into negative externalities. The main purpose of this thesis is to analyse the impact of transport of finished vehicles on the environment. The questionare was built to find out interest, measures and future visions of automotive companies in reducing the environmental impact which is a consequence of their outbound logistics.
