AbstractBefore the choice of upper secondary school in the ninth grade, young people need tohave knowledge of themselves and the world. In this tough choice, the parents are themain support. The supporting role, which are their thoughts on how much theyinfluence in their children’s choice of study? Based on these issues, we seek the answerto the question; which vision have the parents on their involvement in their children'schoice of upper secondary school? Which visions have the parents on the impact ontheir children's upper secondary school? Do the parents think that the children'supbringing has influenced their choices?Young people's career decisions take place in interaction with their parents and withvery different cultural, economic, social and symbolic capital. The concepts are PierreBourdieu's theory that intends to be our toolbox for this thesis. Along with Hodkinsonand Sparkes’ theory Careership the concepts describes a certain extent what influencesyoung people's choices in their life and what impact factors found in their upbringing.The concepts of socialization are these theories a whole in understanding how parentsinhibit or promote their children in electoral processes. Previous research indicatesactuation occurs unawareness of parents to their children.This survey was done with qualitative method and with the hermeneutic interpretationon the analysis. The results of our study showed that majority of the respondents believeupbringing affect the election but friends and interests are factors they believe affect themost.
