No. of bitstreams: 1 Fatima Regina Mibach Nascimento.pdf: 1012015 bytes, checksum: e4fec769762fb77120556e553b708efa (MD5) Previous issue date: 2009-02-03 / The aim of this study was to investigate the postponing of the parental project, emphasizing the psychological and social aspects that interfered, the sterility repercussion on the couple involvement and their experience with the aided reproductive treatments that were made. Participated in the research three couples, straight, over 30, no biological child and different social and economic life, which underwent treatment of assisted reproduction. The contents obtained through Opened Psychological Interview were analysed using the Content Analysis technique proposed by Mathieu as well as discussed according to the theoretical referential of Psychoanalysis and the Group Psychoanalysis. Results shows: specific social conditions (access to biotechnology resources, familiar, social, economic and religious influences), as well as unconscious factors (conflicts, resistances, ambivalence, fantasies and anguish) interfered on the parental project completion; damage on the wedlock (decrease in the spontaneity and sexual interest; difficulty on reorganizing the vital project and interference in daily life); lost in familiarity with relatives and friends; decreasing movement to the early stages of the psychological work, characterized by the persecuting and depressive anguish and the use of primitive ways to deal with it (refusing, illusion, projection, displacement and rationalization). The couple s identification with the research theme and the effectiveness prove to collect data, analysis and phenomenon interpretation to touch the couples were surpassed.

The legacy of loss: the early death of a parent and the 'ever after' impact in young adulthood from a phenomenological perspective

Teixeira, Diane M 15 December 2017 (has links)
Although there is a strong body of existing literature on early parental loss, the majority of research is devoted to examining the consequences of parental death in childhood. Less is known about the long-term impact of this early loss. In particular, there is a lack of understanding about what it is like to live with early parental loss in young adulthood. This hermeneutic phenomenological study addresses the question: What is the young adult’s experience of living with early parental loss? An in-depth exploration into the lived meaning of early parental loss was conducted through open-ended interviews with 8 young men and women (20-30 years old) who lost a mother or father in childhood (between the ages of 9-18 years old). Interview data was coded and analyzed using van Manen’s (2014) hermeneutic phenomenological method, including the process of guided existential inquiry. The fundamental existential themes of lived body, lived time, lived space, and lived other were used as a guide to thematic representation of data. Ten identified themes characterize the essential qualities of this phenomenon: (1) The Grief Experience, (2) The Parentless Identity, (3) Body Awareness, (4) The Transition, (5) The Unexpected Visitor, (6) The New World, (7) The Empty Space, (8) Navigating Relationships in New Ways, (9) Continuing Bonds, and (10) The Relationship With Loss. Through rich experiential descriptions, presented findings demonstrate that the early death of a parent has an ‘ever after’ impact and significantly influences many facets of life in young adulthood. Implications for clinical practice and directions for future research are discussed. / Graduate / 2018-10-02

In this period, most women experience some anxiety about themselves and the baby care, making it a space favorable to achieve and/or modify knowledge about it. This study had as object “A meeting for some dialogue and its repercussion to maternity”; and, based on this, it proposes to understand the influence of these dialogues during the prenatal in the parentally process, paying attention to the use of a social network. The theoretical reference adopted is George-Hans Gadamer‟s Hermeneutics and the methodological reference is the Thematic Content Analysis.Data were collected by a semi-structured questionnaire, obtaining a deep and complete narrative based on the starting question “Tell me about the opportunity to talk during the prenatal. What was your perception?” Participated of the study seven women who went to the meetings more than three times and accepted to take part of it. The meetings for some dialogue occurred from October, 2014 to August, 2015, in the countryside of a city in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil; data were collected in a period between forty-five and sixty days after the childbirth. Data analysis showed two themes: “Informational Support” and “Emotional Support and Acknowledgment of Themselves”It was identified that the participation inthese meetings for some dialogue during the prenatal was important for women who built a dialogic movement in the acknowledgment of themselves and the others as an emotional and informational social support. These dialogues emancipate the pregnant mothers to take decisions on how to take care of their children, promote a social network increase and contribute for the acceptanceof the support received.Besides, these meetings permitted that these women, individually, developed the process of parentally building, recognizing themselves as mothers and creating opportunities for the fathers approaching in this auto recognizing movement.

Kuzinaite, Silvija January 2016 (has links)
Eight children loose one of their parents every day in Sweden. The bigger part of them witness the death of the parent after a long-term illness and maybe after being in contact with the palliative care. The Swedish law of Health- and Healthcare was changed in 2010 due to emphasize that the healthcare institutions have to take into account children rights for information, counseling and support in case of a parental illness or death.  Knowledge about how the system of support for these children is functioning is limited until this day. The goal of this thesis is to examine how counselors in the palliative care experience their work with supporting the children who have lost a parent. The result of the interview study with four counselors in the palliative care implies that these counselors experience their job being complex with many different tasks. The counselors try to take into account the children and their needs in their social environments, such as family and school. To reassure that they get the support needed from these environments the counselors try to support the parents in their parenting and also by informing the parents that informing and including the children in these situations has a positive impact on their development. Another important part of the counselors’ job is referring the children to different support groups or another alternatives for support. The counselors job is characterized by the system theoretical/holistic approach which possibly can by explained as a way to work with children but even parental needs in different social environments and on different levels. Some new problematic issues arose from the interviews, such as the contradictive relationship between the children rights to information and support and the rights of the parents to decide for their children, which invites to further discussion and research in the area.
