The research aims to analyse and reflect on self production (auto) formative processes lived by youth groups and it is about the personal and collective life production in the context of the suburbs. Therefore, it comes from the sociospatial context where live the young people, co-researchers of this work, dealing with the youth condition, and showing the contemporaneous social imaginary and the popular youth field, highlighting the social signification around these segments in the world today. These reflections rely on studies of Henri Lefebvre, José de Souza Martins, Ana Fani Carlos, J. Habermas, Hannah Arendt, Karl Mannheim, Pierre Bourdieu, Giusepper Cocco, Machado Pais, Juarez Dayrell, Antonio Negri, among others. The work is a result of a qualitative research on epistemological base in education field, with groundwork in theoretical-methodological elements of the research-action and of the biographization, activating a device of autobiographical research, created by the author, named of “youth museum”: construction and movement. Three instruments of this device are used to produce and analyse the research data: the “self-telling stories”, “ the bright scenes”, and the “future-project”. The work starts with the life stories of young people components of artistic-cultural groups that act in Pici, place of the research: “Bando Oco do Mundo”, “Maria das Vassouras”, “Soltando a Voz”, “Coletivo Muquifo de Teatro”, “Subvercine”, “Grafiticidade”, “Casa da Mãe Joana” and the “Escuta” NGO. All these groups are organized around the “Coletivo de Culturas Juvenis” (CCJ – Fortaleza), articulation that joins the mentioned groups and has the technical and political support of Diaconia NGO, institution also component of the research. Authors as Jorge Larossa, Michel Foucault, Delory-Momberger, Christine Josso, Jacques Ardoino, Martin-Barbero, Jean Piaget, Edgar Morin, Maria Sposito, among others, were essential to this part of the research. The youth (auto) formative processes in the suburbs are also analysed from “bright scenes”, scenic resource used to come to surface dimensions of the youth lived, facilitating reflections of the aspects of the subjectivity of the subjects where the body is considered biographical material. The bright scenes favored a youth condition approach with gender cutting. The construct used in the data production culminates with the construction of the future-projects, instrument from which the subjects build actions that points to a continuity of their (auto) formation, considering the concept of formability. It intends that the research findings contribute to think the formation processes in the formal, non-formal and informal field in the suburbs in the education area. it can also be useful as corpus of knowledge to the youth sociology.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY NOW00 : How can a tool stimulate Circular Economy whereby the product development stage will be guided towards less waste generation?

Leroy, Luisa January 2018 (has links)
The government has made a choice to call a halt to climate change and has defined concrete milestones that everyone can use in practical terms, but the practical and knowledge side is still lacking within society. There is still no unambiguous approach for circular economy. Unfortunately, no manual is ready yet to take the steps towards 2050. The best advice to give is to start with awareness: making known to the general public. This step is a first step towards 100% circular economy. The greatest effect of circularity of a product must be realized in the design phase. Aspects such as maintenance, flexibility in use and adaptability, disassembly possibilities and the usability at end of life is determined by the design. The choice of materials what a product consists of is also important here. For this, the researcher sought a solution that supports these two important pillars. Circularity is a complex subject and there is a need to convert this complex language whereby this language becomes more intelligible to the daily users, architects, designers and product developers. Making circularity measurable, on the basis of product information from the supplier, the tool calculates the degree of circularity. The focus of the tool lies in the calculation of the impact of its materials and the amount of waste generated during the entire journey of the product. The results of the tool is named PICI© and can be compared with the certification techniques of today, except this one is circular-proof, while almost all of the certifications has been developed within a linear economy. Today's certificates will have to make room for the circularity certificates of the future. In addition, this study will also provide a direction for a circular methodology that will fully support the transition towards a circular service or product development. This research has the aim to make manufacturers, designers, architects or product developers aware what the impact of their product is, whereby the material-decision-making process will be striving for a fully circular  products and the re-use of the those materials.  This tool can motivate and make this impact of waste more visible. On top of that, this tool has a special focus on urban and architectural lighting, due to the collaboration with Spectrum advice and Design, in the Netherlands. Therefore, a case study is included within this study from Hydro Aluminum who supported this research with real-end data.

Assessing the psychosocial risk factors for coronary artery disease: an investigation of predictive validity for the psychosocial inventory for cardiovascular illness

Baker, Maria Kathryn 27 May 2010 (has links)
This dissertation investigated the psychometric properties and clinical applications of the Psychosocial Inventory for Cardiovascular Illness (PICI). The PICI is an inventory developed to measure the psychosocial risk factors for heart disease including anxiety, depression, stress, social isolation, and anger. The inventory was developed to measure the ways that each psychosocial risk factor contributes to the coronary artery disease process through the lifestyle behaviors and pathophysiological mechanisms with which they are associated. The primary purpose of the study was to examine predictive validity for the PICI. With support for predictive validity, the inventory may aid in early identification of individuals at increased risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) so that behavioral, psychosocial, and medical interventions can be implemented. Both healthy and cardiac samples were used in the inventory development and validation process. The PICI was administered in conjunction with similar inventories and physiological markers of CAD were collected including percent of coronary artery blockage and history of heart attacks. Item analysis and factor analysis were used to yield a 20-item PICI comprised of three subscales to include Negative Affect, Social Isolation, and Anger. It was hypothesized that the PICI subscales would predict group membership; whether or not a participant carried a diagnosis of CAD, and would be have a strong relationship to the physiological markers of CAD that were measured. Analysis revealed that the PICI was unable to predict diagnostic status and did not have a strong relationship with the physiological markers of CAD. Results suggest that the PICI has acceptable reliability and construct validity as demonstrated in the current sample, yet further investigation must be conducted to gain support for the instrument’s predictive abilities. / text

The PECI is the basic normative principle according to people should consider the interests of all sentient beings affected when somebody taking a moral decision. It is the join that Singer proposes between universalizability and the principle of equal consideration of interests that constitutes a compelling reason to justify it. The universalizability requires to disregard the numerical differences, putting yourself in other people s shoes, and to consider preferences, interests, desires and ideals of those affected. Singer joins universalizability to normative principle and molds the form and content of his theory. The first chapter introduces the discussion will be developed in this essay. The second chapter deals the historical and philosophical viewpoint from which Singer starts his studies. The third chapter is about the Singer s critiques of naturalism, intuitionism, relativism, simple subjectivism and emotivism. The fourth chapter exposes the design of universal prescriptivism proposed by R. M. Hare. The universal prescriptivism indicates, in the Singer s viewpoint, a consistent way to create the join between the universalizability and PECI. It highlights also the criticism designed by J. L. Mackie and Singer himself to universal prescriptivism. The second part of this chapter shows briefly some of the main points of the classical conception of utilitarianism and its possible relationship with the theory of Singer. The fifth chapter introduces the Singer s thesis about the origin of ethics and the universalizability as a feature necessary to the point of view of ethic, and the way which this argument is developed to form the PECI. The sixth chapter exposes the main distinctions that characterize the PECI. Finally the seventh chapter provides a discussion about the reasons highlighted by Singer for one who wants orient his life according to the standpoint of ethics. This structure allows explaining the main ideas of the author concerning the theoretical foundations of his moral philosophy / Esta investiga??o tem como objetivo reconstruir e explicitar o argumento proposto por Peter Singer para justificar o princ?pio de igual considera??o de interesses (PICI).
