Podpůrný nástroj při tvorbě autorských textů / Development of Desktop Applications on the NetBeans Platform

Vondráček, Martin January 2011 (has links)
This thesis serves as an introduction to use of the NetBeans Platform for development of desktop applications. Its goal is to present the platform both on a compact example application and on a real-world scenario application. Secondary goal is to provide a summary of materials for further learning. The description of the particular pieces of the platform is interlaid with the step by step tutorial, which invites to further testing of the platform's features. Some principles of the platform are then presented in a source code from a real-world application. This application is a tool for authors and should provide an evidence of both academic and literary texts, notes and named entities (like characters, locations, terms etc.). The analysis of this tool and a description in a more detail is presented in the appendix. An organized summary of shortly commented links to other sources is there too. The main benefits of this thesis are: the demonstration of the NetBeans Platform on particular examples in context, and the summary of online materials for further reading.

Multi-platform development of applications for mobile devices

Sjödin, Mattias January 2012 (has links)
This bachelor thesis has been performed at Combitech, a technology, development and management consultancy company. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the possibilities for multi-platform development of applications for mobile devices, as well as actually developing a simpler application using multi-platform development. The application is supposed to have functionality for sending an expression of interest for work and thesis work at Combitech, and should be available both as a native application for the Android and iOS operating systems as well as in the form of a web application. The thesis begins with an investigation of the possibilities for multi-platform development of applications for mobile devices. It is concluded that there is a wide range of available development frameworks that target several mobile platforms. It is decided that an HTML/CSS/JavaScript-based framework is most suited for the application to be developed. Therefore four HTML/CSS/JavaScript-based multi-platform development frameworks targetting mobile devices are analyzed more closely, namely jQuery Mobile, PhoneGap, Sencha Touch and Appcelerator Titanium. jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap are chosen to develop the application, and the thesis describes the development work as well as the resulting application. It is concluded that HTML/CSS/JavaScript-based frameworks can provide a nice touch screen optimized user interface that is consistent across platforms with e.g. jQuery Mobile, as well as access to native features and the possibility to package a web application as a native application with e.g. PhoneGap. It is also concluded that jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap can be used to create a modular application that, with well defined interfaces, can be run both as a web application and packaged as a native application on different mobile operating systems with no or minor changes to the code.

Design And Construction Of A Six Degree Of Freedom Platform

Gurbuz, Sarper 01 November 2006 (has links) (PDF)
ABSTRACT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SIX DEGREE OF PLATFORM G&uuml / rb&uuml / z, Sarper M.S., Department of Mechanical Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Tuna BALKAN Co-Supervisor: Prof. Dr. M. A. Sahir ARIKAN November 2006, 83 pages In this thesis a six degree of freedom (DOF) parallel manipulator is designed, developed and simulated virtually. The platform, which is specified and focused on in this thesis, is the specific solution for the generating the required data to simulate a land, airborne or sea vehicle&amp / #8217 / s motion trajectory in the laboratory environment. After explaining the need for such platforms for the military industry, the existing devices will be presented and discussed. Then the design period will be explained while pointing out the key performance criteria. The gathered performance values of the first design iteration will be presented and the modifications done in order to get to the expected performance will be given. Finally an investigation, in order to find the maximum payload that the platform can handle, is performed and presented. It is too hard to get to the desired performance values in mechanical design and manufacturing without using the CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) programs. In this thesis ProEngineer Wildfire&reg / is used for solid modeling the components, the sub-assemblies and the final assembly, ANSYS Workbench&reg / is used for investigating the modal behavior of the components, ADAMS&reg / 2003 is used for the dynamic simulation of the mechanism, ADAMS/Flex&reg / , ADAMS/AutoFlex&reg / and ADAMS/Durability&reg / are used to analyze the results when flexibility is embedded into the system. At the end of the thesis in Appendix section five technical drawings with the nominal dimensions are given in order to clarify the construction period. By the regulations that must be obeyed in ASELSAN only the nominal dimensions are given in the technical drawings. All the dimensional and geometrical tolerances are given in the approved technical drawings that are proprietary of ASELSAN. An Evaluation Framework for Cross-Platform Mobile Application Development Tools

Dhillon, Sanjeet 20 December 2012 (has links)
The mobile application market is becoming increasingly fragmented with the availability of multiple mobile platforms that differ in development procedures. Developers are forced to choose to support only some platforms and specific devices due to limited development resources. To address these challenges, numerous tools have been created to aid developers in building cross-platform applications, however, there is no metric to evaluate the quality of these tools. This thesis introduces a framework for evaluating the features, performance and discuss development experience of existing and future cross-platform development tools. The framework is implemented by benchmarking several tools and the results identify a disparity in the features and performance. This research is carried out in collaboration with industrial partner Desire2Learn, through an NSERC Engage Grant. / NSERC, Desire2Learn

DigiExam Cross Platform-Klient : Cross platform-klient för att göra digitala prov / DigiExam Cross Platform Client : Cross platform client for digital assessment

Krupalija, Amar January 2016 (has links)
DigiExam is an Edtech company with main focus on digital assessment. The company develops a platform that enables schools to minimize administrative overhead for teachers and enables students to use tools to help and improve their writing during an exam. In order to be able to take a test on a computer or tablet, the student needs to have some kind of software installed for digital exams. DigiExam used to have four clients for four operative systems. Two of the clients were based on the same source code while the other two were unique which made implementation and maintenance of features unnecessarily costly and time consuming. To deal with these issues the company decided to develop a cross platform-client which enables the developers to use one base source code for all clients and operative systems. The cross platform client developed in this dissertation proves that it is possible to create an application based on web technology and that uses the operative systems full potential. This dissertation gives an example how a cross platform client can be developed and resulted in client for Mac OSX and Windows that shares the same base source code as the Chromebook and iOS clients.

Real time bidding jako nový způsob nákupu plošné reklamy / Real time bidding as a new way of buying media

Götthans, Ondřej January 2017 (has links)
The thesis presents RTB as a new way of buying media. The theoretical part defines the display advertising market, compares different ways of buying media and deeper describes functions of individual entities within the RTB ecosystem. In the application part are used methods such as the deep interviewing, the primary data analysis from the Adform DSP platform and the content analysis, to characterize the Czech market which is also compared with selected markets of Central and Eastern Europe. A future development of RTB on the Czech market is outlined by means of expert interviews. Shortcomings of the current solution are identified based on comparison and analysis of results of retargeting campaigns for the selected subject. Furthermore, an appropriate modification of a retargeting strategy is proposed with support of experts.

STRATEGIC CHALLENGES OF MULTI-SIDED INTERNET START-UPS / Strategické výzvy multi-stranných internetových start-upů

Mucha, Tomáš January 2012 (has links)
The theory of this thesis focuses on particulars of multi-sided platform businesses with special emphasis put on early stage start-ups. The goal is to capture crucial findings and fuse them together to point out specifics which apply only for start-ups that are developed in form of multi-sided platform business. This thesis should provide guidance to all entrepreneurs considering such new business formations. It aims at showing them the most important points leading to positive value creation in multi-sided platform businesses. Specifically, it explains the strategic points hidden behind pricing and network effects utilization. At the same time it depicts what are the unnecessary distractions which just destroy attention and consume time and effort. Consequently, these findings are tested on practical example, where real start-up is modelled using this theoretical framework. Such real application points out strong and weak points. Consequently, the optimal framework is derived based on prior findings. The main suggestions point out what should be examined further by the theory and where the research captured enough knowledge.

Do academia and industry agree? : A study on how cross-platform research aligns with the concerns of developers

Tingström, Conrad, Zidan, Omar January 2021 (has links)
The number of available mobile applications (or apps) as well as the usage of these are rapidly increasing. With this increase there naturally also follows an increased competitiveness in the app market, with developers needing to produce apps of high perceived quality in order to get return users and also needing to make their apps available to multiple different platforms and devices. With substantial platform and device fragmentation, this is often a difficult and costly task. While traditionally an app basically had to be build from scratch for each platform it needed to support, in later years alternative development techniques for what is called cross-platform development have emerged and seen a rapid increase in usage. Contrary to native development, cross-platform development aims to enable development of a single codebase that can then run on all platforms. The idea is that this would save development time and thereby cost. Academic literature was found to often evaluate and compare performance differences between apps developed with cross-platform frameworks and their natively developed counterparts. Typically, these studies reported several reoccurring drawbacks with cross-platform development, compared to native development. However, research within the field was found to be lacking in regard to developers’ experience in general, and specifically whether this focus on comparing performance and listing pros and cons was representative of the concerns of industry developers. This study aimed to begin filling this gap, byinvestigating the extent to which these developers were relating any drawbacks to cross-platform development as well as which these were. Also, the study sought to answer how big a part this awareness of drawbacks played in the decision when developers chose to develop natively instead of cross-platform. With this, the goal of the study was ultimately to discussthe state of cross-platform research and whether it focused on aspects that were relevant to the industry. Data in this study was gathered in two ways: (1) a literature study, aiming to get an image of the current state of cross-platform research and (2) a web survey, in which app developers were invited through various groups in Facebook and Reddit. Ultimately, the results indicated that industry developers were to a large extent relating the same drawbacks to cross-platform development as were found to be frequently reported by academia. Further, all of the survey participants that related drawbacks to cross-platform development and ever chose to develop natively instead of cross-platform, did so to a very large degree because of those drawbacks. There were limitations to both the planning and the execution of the methods that were used, primarily in the gathering of data but also the analysis of this. However, it was still deemed possible to conclude that the results of the study indicated that research regarding cross-platform development could reasonably keep its current focus moving forward, as this appeared to be of high relevance to the industry.
