Výstavba a jazykové vyobrazení fenoménu změny klimatu v politickém diskurzu pravicových populistických stran / Construction and Linguistic Portrayal of Climate Change Phenomenon in Right-Wing Populist Parties' Political Discourse

Zindović, Milica January 2021 (has links)
The main goal of this paper is to examine the construction and linguistic portrayal of the climate change phenomenon in the right-wing populist parties' discourse. The literature has so far mainly assumed automatic relationship between right- wing ideology and climate-refusal and did not go beyond analysis of specific climate-skeptical parties. We aim to fill this gap in the literature by analyzing both climate-supportive and disengaged RWP parties, as well their communication strategies on the matter. In order to disentangle inconsistencies, paradoxes and contradictions in text and discourse-internal structures, as well as to demystify the possible persuasive or manipulative tendencies of RWP parties, this paper employs a Discourse- Historical Approach in order to examine how these actors transform, translate and modify the meaning and role of a climate change in their texts. Moreover, the focus of our paper is on the three strategies within DHA - nomination, predication and argumentation. The analysis included three RWP parties - Alternative for Germany; Hungarian Fidesz and French National Rally, We found that the three examined parties with different climate policy preferences tend to deploy markedly different manipulative or persuasive strategies, and utilize different rhetorical and...

Les générations des chroniqueurs de la Turquie et la construction médiatique du charisme du leader au miroir du mouvement de Gezi / Columnist generations of Turkey and mediatic construction of leader charism in the light of Gezi movement

Baykal Fide, Ece 31 January 2018 (has links)
This thesis examines the political generations of the columnists as members of the journalistic power elite under the AKP government, and endeavour to reveal the roles they hold; the discourses they produce during political crises, in our case that which is aroused by the Gezi movement. Relying on the sociology of political crises of Michel Dobry while examining the journalistic field; the militant and professional trajectories of the columnists, this study posits as main hypothesis that the columnists appropriate the role of political mediators during political crises. The media construction of a leader’s charisma that of Erdoğan, by the columnists through the Gezi movement is the subject of our study as well

Green populism : a new phenomenon

Carvalho, Ariana January 2020 (has links)
This study aims at exploring a new phenomenon labelled here as green populism. Building on modern theories of populism and green ideology, this case-study is focused on finding which elements of green populism are present, if any, in Greta Thunberg’s discourse. Using a Qualitative Content Analysis methodology and what is known as a coding process, it was possible to determine that all six subcategories of green populism, defined by this study as a) ecological crisis of cosmic proportion, b) victimisation of "the people", c) blame attribution to "the elite", d) green radicalisation, e) trust in science, and finally, f) intergenerational justice, can be identified in Greta Thunberg’s speeches. The analysis leads to the conclusion that Greta Thunberg is a populist actor which combines both populism thin-centred ideology and green ideology into a new phenomenon: green populism. /
Contact: ac222sd@student.lnu.se

Vývoj diskurzu pravicového populismu v České republice / The development of the discourse of right-wing populism in the Czech Republic

Němcová, Lucie January 2020 (has links)
The thesis examines the development of right-wing populist discourse in the Czech Republic and aims to define the forms and possible changes in populist discourse with a special emphasis on argumentation, then to interpret the changes in a broader social and political context. The research focuses on three organizational incarnations of right-wing populism: Public Affairs, Dawn of Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura and Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura. The research method is a discursive-historical approach, which draws on the analysis of topoi. An analysis of the programs of the two movements and the party showed that the right-wing populist discourse has shifted from the original themes that the Public Affairs party has raised. These are included in the other two movements, but each adds something extra. From the initial anti-elite attitudes, social chauvinism and emphasis on direct democracy in the case of Public Affairs to nationalism and the promotion of national pride in the case of the Dawn, to the harsh euroscepticism, Islamophobia and anti-immigration appeals in the case of the SPD. The topoi used in the VV program is primarily topos of abuse, but the Dawn, with its specific appeal to national awareness, also introduces topos of people or topos of advantage, and the SPD clearly...
