Science courses, as biology, chemistry and physics, constitute significant real subjects it is necessary to rely mainly on experiments and observations. In other words, the practical training is the hallmark of science. Practical training has a positive effect on increasing the attractiveness of individual objects, but in meaning of cognitive function is still debated its merits. What stand the laboratory work for the teachers, as a mediator of the teaching process? Research shows that the practical training teachers perceived positively mainly because of the perfect linking theory with practice, the lower the number of pupils and their proactive approach in teaching. Negatively seems time consuming, consisting mainly of fetch and training material. Keywords: biology education and science courses, lab courses, school laboratory, time allocated to science practices

This diploma thesis approaches the development of an idea that mentally challenged pupils form about their future employment and introduces aspects that are involved in such process. This is applied to all ages of students with mild mental disability who attend the Primary Special School in Chabařovice. Another goal is to cover the level and the rate of success of pre-vocational training at this school. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with the explanation of the term mental retardation, etiology and classification of mental disability, education of students with mild mental disabilities, their training and application of these young people with such handicap on the labor market. The empirical research focuses on the development of ideas of these children about their future professional career and highlights the aspects that affect the development during their school years.

Among students, interest in Science is decreasing, despite the fact that knowledge of Science can be useful in many real life situations, such as medicine, conservation etc. Science education can also simply help to form a positive attitude towards nature. There are many possibilities of increasing students' interest in Science that could increase their motivation to study. Apart from Inquiry Based Education or Prescribed Practical Activities, working with devices used in research practice is one of the possibilities. If a school doesn't own such devices, there is a possibility to borrow them, or to work with them via the Internet. Possibilities of remote access to these devices are subject to research abroad, and this trend is also starting to appear in the Czech Republic. One example of a device that can be borrowed by schools is a fluorescence microscope at the Department of Didactics and Education of Biology, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. In my thesis, I was investigating the influence of the presence or absence of this fluorescence microscope on the knowledge of students. Research was carried out in four different classes at two secondary schools in Prague. The name of the thesis: Practical exercises using the theme of tropical and subtropical fruits in teaching natural history and biology describe the basic issue that the following text is devoted to. This thesis is connected to my bachelor thesis, "Tropical Fruit in Natural History and Biology Textbooks," defended in 2010. The main objectives of the thesis was to complete the contentual analysis of natural history and biology textbooks for the 2nd degree of primary schools, lower grades of grammar schools, and secondary schools. I focused on the issue of the incorrect inclusion of certain plants in chapters for tropical and subtropical fruits. Based on the total contentual analysis of textbooks, I have chosen the processing of practical exercises with the theme of tropical and subtropical fruits as the main objective. Based on the evaluation of the questionnaire, which served as a basis for practical exercises, in which teachers of natural history and biology were addressed, I was focused primarily on lab exercises, worsheets, proposals for project days, didactic games, and excursion worksheets, when creating the practical exercises. The diploma thesis deals with selected aspects of education of individuals with special educational needs - pupils with mental disabilities. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an insight into the life of individuals with mental disabilities, describes problems of the target group from the viewpoint of special pedagogy and from the school's viewpoint. Practical part of the diploma thesis provides an insight into a selected school, to show the positives and the problems through the participants in education - pupils with mental disabilities, teachers and parents. The aim of the research is to characterize problems and situations, and to describe the pitfalls of pupils' education in the selected practical school. In order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to collect information about the education proces in the chosen school, to show the pupils' lives and their problems. Then we can make recommendations on improving pupils' support, including the school environment. The diploma thesis is also intended to support students interested in the education in the school - parents and pupils. In the diploma thesis, the methodology of mixed design was used. The thesis describes practical work as one of the teaching methods with a focus on its goals, effectiveness and different types of assignment. Analýza systému nakládání s odpadem v Heřmanově Městci

The aim of the thesis was to propose possible measures to optimize existing waste management system in Hermanuv Mestec based on the description and analysis of the current situation. In the theoretical sphere the thesis works with basic terms of the current Czech legislative norms and regulations. The geographical position, city planning solution and demographic evolution were characterized. The whole system ensuring waste management in the investigated area was described and its compositions were specified, including their production practices and quantification of economic costs. To analyze the issue of city's waste management system the SWOT analysis and the method of comparison were employed. Recommendations, based on the conducted analysis and findings, were presented for optimizing current system of the organizational sphere, personnel management and financial parts.
