The Perception of Thai Consumer toward Loose Candy (Lösgodis) : The Study of Product Selection for Thai Market

Chaisirivichien, Nutnaree, Tansomsakul, Vuthi January 2011 (has links)
Problem: What are Thai consumers’ perceptions toward sugar confectionery  products, which are sold as loose candy (lösgodis) in Sweden? Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify and describe the perception of Thai consumers toward sugar confectionery products with the concept of loose candy (lösgodis) by putting an emphasis on the preferences of product features and the choices of product as well as explore the similarities and differences of each demographic and psychographic group. Method: Method included a collection of information concerning theories. model and confectionery market information from different sources; interview with the candy store owner to figure out market insight as well as related information and the survey with a sample of respondents in order to investigate their perception and preferences of the sugar confectionery products. The retrieved data was analyzed statistically and theoretically in accordance with the conceptual framework. Result: The findings indicated that the majority of Thai people like to consume candy. By allowing consumers to perceive and evaluate candy features through different senses, the result revealed that colorful soft gummy fruity flavors candy with a shape of eatable product together with a uniquely stand-out sweets smell are most preferable. After examining the similarities and differences among the demographic and psychographic groups of consumer regarding their perception and preferences of sugar confectionery products, only minimal differences were found.

Existe fim em marfim? : um estudo da relação de palavras dentro de palavras no acesso lexical / Is there pie in pirate? : A study on the relation of words within words in lexical access

Salgado, Beatriz de Oliveira, 1989- 06 May 2014 (has links)

In this research, we examined if in Brazilian Portuguese (PB), as in Dutch (Van Alphen & Van Berkum, 2010), listeners consider the meaning of spurious words embedded in other words, during lexical access. As an example of this phenomenon there is the activation of the word "pain", even if briefly, when the listener hears the word "champagne". Investigating phenomena like this is trying to comprehend part of the dynamics in the lexical access in our minds. We have asked if the lexical access of an embedded word in the beginning of its carrier (e.g. "pie" in "pirate") occurs in the same way as a word embedded in its ending (e.g. "pain" in "champagne"). We propose that this access does not happen in a strictly modular way, but in an interactive way, in cognitive terms, as in a connectionist model. In this type of model, as argues Leitão (2008), there is a high interaction among all kinds of relevant information to processing (lexical-semantic, contextual, frequency of occurrence etc.) and this interaction among information is what guides the "path" we follow in processing. Initially, we searched the corpus NILC-São Carlos for words that had other smaller words embedded in them (henceforth, carrier and embedded, respectively) in and interval of frequency. After that, we elaborated cross-modal lexical decision experiments to evaluate if a word in the screen associated to the embedded word in the audio (e.g. DOCTOR to "pain" in "champagne") would have a response time (RT) different from a word with no direct association either with the carrier or the embedded word (e.g. COMPUTER). This result would indicate that the subject also considers the embedded word in the lexical access of the carrier, because the association of the written word with the spurious word (embedded) in the audio interfered with the task, modifying the response time, in comparison to a written word with no association, which would not interfere in the task. On the other hand, there is evidence for the deactivation of the embedded word in the beginning and to the inhibition of the activation of an embedded in the end of a carrier, which is justified by the activation of the carrier itself (for example, the mental activation of "champagne" would inhibit the activation of "pain", as a result of the competition between these lexical hypotheses). We argue that, by the end of the prime, the embedded words are still activated, but suffer the effects of the competition against the carrier word. The empirical results around this subject, in the current literature, are not yet consistent, with evidence for effects that facilitate the access of embedded words, as well as effects that inhibit this access. Therefore, our study provides more evidence to the comprehension of the temporal dynamics of the activation of words within words in lexical access by investigating the difference in processing of embeddings in the beginning as well as in the ending of carrier words, by comparing the different RTs for each of these situations / Mestrado / Linguistica / Mestra em Linguística

Female Teachers as Sexual Predators: A Qualitative study of grades 7-12 in the state of Florida's public schools

Joslyn, Jayme Lynn 01 January 2011 (has links)
This study's purpose was to discover commonalities and differences among female predators and Florida female teachers who are perceived and reported to harass students sexually. When perceived and reported female sexual harasser and student safety was researched, a breath of studies did not occur. When current studies were reviewed, teacher sexual harassment continued to occur. In this qualitative study, ten Florida public school female teachers who were perceived and reported to sexually harass students were randomly selected. Findings indicted that further research is still needed on female teachers who are perceived and reported to sexually harass students. When researching the female teacher as a sexual predator, implications such as student safety in the public school system, school districts not reporting sexual harassment, and the need for additional research due to the minimal amount of completed research on the topic. When the differences and commonalities between female teachers who are perceived and reported to harass students sexually and female predators was studied, the results were not conclusive. The data displayed minimal commonalities and differences leaving no definitive answer but created numerous questions for future research. In addition, recommendations were made for school leaders and for future research.

Současný stav poslechových činností v hodinách Hv na 1. stupni ZŠ a didaktické návrhy na zapojení těchto činností ve výuce / Present state of listening activities in elementary school music lessons, and didactic suggestions for the integration of these activities in school teaching

Poláčková, Marie January 2016 (has links)
The present state of listening activities in elementary school music lessons, and didactic suggestions for the integration of these activities in school teaching The thesis looks into the employment of listening activities at contemporary Czech schools. Its primary aim is to boost the motivation of school children to listen to classical music by means of choosing their preferred pieces in music lessons. The thesis consists of two parts, the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part analyses available sources connected with listening activities, such as materials for teachers, and textbooks certified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as one of possible tools. It looks into the place of listening activities in the contemporary Czech curriculum, and presents also information about listening from the music therapy point of view. The practical part analyses the present situation in the employment of listening activities at our schools. It detects spontaneous preferences of pupils in listening to classical music, and suggests how to use these spontaneous preferences to enhance the quality of music education at school, and build and encourage positive attitude of school children to classical music. The practical part is based on the interview and experiment methods. The...
