Prevence kriminality mládeže na základních školách v praxi / Prevention of juvenile crime at middle schools

Nekvindová, Aneta January 2018 (has links)
This thesis deals with the problem of the implementation of the crime prevention at the primary schools in the Czech Republic. The main objective was to evaluate the application of the crime prevention programs as viewed by the pedagogues from the selected primary school and to find the main insufficiencies and the room for improvements, especially in the implementation of the crime prevention programs area. This Thesis is divided into the two main parts. The theoretical and factual basis are presented in the first part. The theoretical basis collects the opinions of the experts from the given area and helps to define basic terms, concepts and theoretical scopes, with which this thesis further deals. The main theoretical basis of this thesis is the implementation of the state crime prevention through the street-level bureaucrats (employees of the school as the most direct executioners of the state crime prevention). The factual basis comes out from the research of the public legislative and structural basis for the crime prevention at schools in the Czech Republic and thus, it puts the problem into the reality of the current state and demands of the Czech state prevention system. The second part is practical and presents the results of the case study, which was completed by the author at the...

Pozice školního metodika prevence a změny v jeho činnosti / Position of the School Prevention Methodist and Changes in His Agenda

Kubovčiaková, Helena January 2020 (has links)
School prevention methodist plays a key role in the successful elimination of risky behavior in the school environment. His function has undergone changes since its establishment, as has the context of its operation. This thesis is focused on the process of generating the position of a prevention methodist and the changes that have affected his current position. It also outlines current issues related to the performance of the function of school preventionist. The theoretical part presents the current legislative framework in which the school prevention methodist operates, as well as earlier legislation, and draws attention to the possible pitfalls of some legal norms. It also places the person of the ŠMP in the intra-ministerial system of school prevention and more broadly in the inter-ministerial organization of prevention. For a better understanding of the current situation, the theoretical part of the work opens a look into the history of prevention in the Czech Republic, or ČSFR, respectively. It characterizes the basic concepts associated with the person of the school prevention methodist, ie primary prevention, risk behavior, etc. The essential part is devoted to a broader understanding of the role of school prevention methodist through a look at the development of his function and the...

Primary Care Provider Density and Social Ecological Factors Related to County-Level Diabetes Prevalence in the United States

Kemsley, Robert Alan 27 June 2023 (has links) (PDF)
Diabetes is a critical public health concern with considerable financial and personal costs in the United States. Research has identified several interventions available to primary care providers to prevent diabetes. These interventions may prevent diabetes by influencing personal, community, and public health policy factors. These factors are key components of the social ecological model, which examines the influence of diverse social influences on health. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the univariate relationship between PCP density and diabetes prevalence, as well as the multivariate relationship between PCP density and diabetes prevalence with physical inactivity prevalence, obesity prevalence, and social vulnerability scores held constant. This study also accounted for state-level differences in diabetes prevalence through fixed-level state effects. The initial univariate analysis yielded no significant relationship. The final multivariate regression yielded a statistically significant relationship in a model that better fit the data—as seen by p values <0.001 and information criteria decreases from 12,538.67 to 11,099.72 (AIC) and 12,538.67 to 11,099.72 (BIC). In this final multivariate regression, a 1% increase in primary care provider density was associated with a 0.0019% decrease in diabetes prevalence. Meanwhile, a 1%- or 1-point increase in physical inactivity prevalence, obesity prevalence, and social vulnerability scores led to 0.20%, 0.06%, and 0.14% increases in diabetes prevalence respectively. These findings highlight the value of social ecological factors in diabetes research, as well as the increased need for evidence-based diabetes prevention in primary care, including strategies that target personal, community, and public health policy factors related to diabetes.

Public Health Aspects of Pharmaceutical Prescription Patterns : Exemplified by treatments for prevention of cardiovascular disease

Silwer, Louise January 2007 (has links)
Public health aspects of pharmaceutical prescription patterns: Exemplified by treatments for prevention of cardiovascular disease. Louise Silwer. ISBN: 978-91-85721-18-4 ISSN: 0283-1961Main aim:To study patterns and trends of dispensed prescriptions, to explore what proportion of the population is exposed to some of the more prevalently prescribed pharmaceuticals, and to find possible ways of measuring drug-induced adverse symptoms in the population. Further, to illuminate conditions surrounding prescribing in primary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Methods: In three descriptive studies of prescription patterns, prescription data at aggregate level from a Swedish county were analysed retrospectively, and proportions were calculated. Data from the first ten years of the studies were obtained from a local prescription study, and data from another five years were local data from a national prescription survey. Data from a Danish database (OPED), with data at the individual level, were used for a prescription sequence symmetry analysis, and when Swedish national prescription data at the individual level became accessible, they were used for calculations of drug prevalence in the entire Swedish population. In a qualitative analysis of interview data, a phenomenographic approach was used. Main results: The purchase of pharmaceuticals on prescription almost doubled in the studied county in the period 1988-2002. Some common pharmaceuticals that increased to a great extent among the older part of the population were cardiovascular preventive drugs, such as antihypertensive and lipid modifying agents, and also hormone replacement therapy for women. In 2005, over half of all Swedish citizens, aged 60 or over, purchased antihypertensive or lipid modifying preparations during a six-month period. The different views that were found among GPs, regarding beliefs and practical management of primary prevention of CVD, could be interpreted as a reflection of the complexity of patient counselling in primary prevention in practice. Conclusion: The increase in dispensed prescriptions over the 15 years and the magnitude of the prevalence of the studied pharmaceuticals, such as antihypertensive, lipid modifying and hormonal treatments, which to a great extent are used by ‘healthy’ people, point to the need of following-up both beneficial and harmful consequences on public health. The prevalence of preventive treatments together with the variation in views of administration of primary prevention of cardiovascular disease, also point to the need of clarification of guidelines regarding pharmaceutical primary prevention and encouragement of therapy discussions among GPs.

Estimation de la mortalité évitable au Québec de 1981-1985 à 2005-2009

Chentir, Atika 11 1900 (has links)
The upward trend observed in Quebec’s life expectancy in past years suggests that population health has continued to improve. However, a number of deaths continue to occur prematurely before the age of 75 years. A part of this premature mortality is potentially avoidable. The objective of this paper is to estimate avoidable mortality rates in Quebec from 1981-1985 to 2005-2009. Avoidable mortality rates were obtained by applying the method of Tobias and Jackson (2001) to mortality data made available to us by the Institut national de santé publique du Québec. Furthermore, this approach allowed us to evaluate avoidable mortality rates by three levels of prevention: primary, secondary and tertiary. Our results show a downward trend in avoidable mortality from 1981-1985 to 2005-2009. This decline was observed for the whole population and also for both sexes. Differences in male’s and female’s avoidable mortality trends are however noticed. Indeed, avoidable mortality is higher for men than women and a large part of this difference is associated to primary prevention. The analysis by cause of death revealed that lung cancer was the leading cause of avoidable death in both men and women in 2005-2009. During this same period, the second leading cause of avoidable mortality is breast cancer and ischemic heart diseases in females and males respectively.
