Matching Concept Descriptions with Existential RestrictionsBaader, Franz, Küsters, Ralf 20 May 2022 (has links)
Matching of concepts with variables (concept patterns) is a relatively new operation that has been introduced in the context of description logics, originally to help filter out unimportant aspects of large concepts appearing in industrial-strength knowledge bases. Previous work has concentrated on (sub-)languages of CLASSIC, which in particular do not allow for existential restrictions. In this work, we present sound and complete decision algorithms for the solvability of matching problems and for computing sets of matchers for matching problems in description logics with existential restrictions.

Updating Description Logic ABoxesLiu, Hongkai, Lutz, Carsten, Miličić, Maja, Wolter, Frank 31 May 2022 (has links)
Aus dem Abstract:
Description logic (DL) ABoxes are a tool for describing the state of affairs in an application domain. In this paper, we consider the problem of updating ABoxes when the state changes. We assume that changes are described at an atomic level, i.e., in terms of possibly negated ABox assertions that involve only atomic concepts and roles. We analyze such basic ABox updates in several standard DLs by investigating whether the updated ABox can be expressed in these DLs and, if so, whether it is computable and what is its size.

Analýza spontánního kolapsu v elastických trubicích / Analysis of spontaneous collapse in elastic tubesNetušil, Marek January 2012 (has links)
Interaction of fluid with elastic tube is complicated issue studied by many scientific departments around the world. Object of this thesis is to analyze simplified one-dimensional model. At the beginning, used balance equations and basics of hyper-elasticity are presented. Then we review three most common materials used for the description of blood vessels and other soft tissues. For these materials we introduce a method which we use to derive a relation between tube deformation and transmural pressure (i.e. difference between inner and outer pressure). In mathematical section we give brief review of theory of nonlinear hyperbolic equations and some relatively new results in the field of existence and uniqueness of a solution of one-dimensional hyperbolic system. The "building stone" of these results is a solution of the so-called Riemann problem. We use a method for finding exact solutions to the Riemann problem to analyze studied model of fluid-tube interaction and study dependence of the qualitative behavior of the solution on the material properties of the tube wall.

Humaniora och Anställningsbarhet : Det svenska näringslivets syn på humaniora 2005-2015 - Problembeskrivningar och lösningsförslagIngemarsson, Hugo January 2017 (has links)
Education has always been a topic of hot discussion and debate, in recent years the discussion about the humanities place in education and society has come to be renewed. The debate about the humanities in higher education in Sweden can be traced back as long as the 1930’s but the renewed debate have one new actor: the commercial and industrial life in Sweden. The aspectof the commercial and industrial life’s side of the debate has so far not been especiallyexplored by Swedish academics. In this essay the commercial and industrial life’s way of viewing the humanities are analysed and discussed. The material for the essay is concentrated to a ten year span, namely the period from 2005 to 2015. The aim with the essay was to see what sorts of problems the commercial and industrial life in Sweden described and what kinds of solutions they proposed on those problems, and to figure out why they presented these problems and solutions. In the analysis several themes of different kinds of problems and solutions was found, these themes was then discussed in order to conclude how the commercial and industrial life in Sweden viewed the humanities during this time period. The analysis concludes that the commercial and industrial life in Sweden primarily describes the problems and suggested solutions concerning the humanities in relation to the labour market. The commercial and industrial life is worried about the welfare of the state seen how to few people with an education in the humanities get employed after their examination. The study also concludes that the problems and solutions described by the commercial and industrial life are presented in the context of how society value economical rather than cultural aspects of life.
