Caetano, André Gustavo Lopes de Sousa 19 June 2000 (has links)
The lack of reliable information in a production environment creates a wrong image of the shop floor, affecting the plant\'s agility and its performance. A shop floor supervisory system, able to provide, in a fast way, that sort of information, can enhance the competitiveness of the manufacturing plant. The present work shows visions and concepts that can give support to the implementation of shop floor supervisory system in manufacturing plants. lt also presents the development and implementation of this kind of system in the lntegrated Model Plant (FIM) of the Advanced Manufacturing Nucleus (NUMA) at São Carlos - University of São Paulo.

Contribution to the production management process using automatic shop floor data collection.

Favaretto, Fabio 20 April 2001 (has links)
The production management process is in charge to plan all production activities in manufacturing enterprises. Conceptual models are references for implantation and organization of this process. Some of these models do not include automatic shop floor data collection. It is proposed a conceptual model that takes into account the automatica data collection, using, treating and making it available. This will permit a decision making based on more detailed, accurated and easy to get information.

Validation of a real-time automated production-monitoring system

Dimovski, David, Hammargren Andersson, Johan January 2021 (has links)
In today’s industry, companies are, to an increasing degree, beginning to embrace the concept of industry 4.0. One of these companies is Diab which has a factory located in Laholm where they manufacture composite material. Some of the machines at the factory are older with outdated control systems and require a way to log data in real-time. The goal of the project is to create a working prototype system that can monitor the production flow in real-time by using sensors to collect data about the work efficiency of the machine, measuring the idle time when the machine is working and when it’s not and storing this data in a database which can be accessible by a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The purpose is to investigate the requirements to get a fully operatable system and what it takes to maintain it to get an idea if the system should be self-developed by the company or buy/license from a third party. The system was built by using a NodeMCU ESP32, a Raspberry Pi 4B and a SparkFun DistanceSensor Breakout VL53L1X, and for the software to program the NodeMCU ESP32, Arduino IDE was used; Java language was used to develop the server on the Raspberry Pi and, together with MariaDB, to store the data. The tests that were conducted showed that the data could be displayed within a second in the created GUI but could not guarantee a reading of a passing block; however, it gave a good overview of the workflow of the machine. An improvement of the system is suggested by using visual-based object detection. An overview of the production in real-time can allow for future possibilities of optimising the production flow and, with an improvement of the system, can increase the automation of the production, which can bring the company closer to the concept of industry 4.0.

Digitalisering av avrapportering i produktion vid BAE Systems AB / Digital transformation of production monitoring at BAE Systems AB

Svensson, Robert January 2022 (has links)
BAE Systems Hägglunds in Ornsköldsvik is an engineering company that producesoff-road and combat vehicles for military and civilian purposes and sees a need fordigital transformation and streamlining of production in order to maintain contractualdelivery times and be an employer of the future. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate a way to facilitate and streamline theorder card handling of a laser machine at the manufacturing site in Örnsköldsvik, where the reporting of orders is expected to become a bottleneck in production. The company’s believe in the future importance of digital transformation also wasa significant factor leading to the current work. As of today, order card handling in production is performed manually with physicaldocuments and drawings that follow through the production lines, from article toarticle, from cut-out raw material to finished detail. In this work, a concept hasbeen created, which simplifies the documentation of the production. The final concept meets the requirement for simpler reporting by (1) using a QuickResponse (QR) code and (2) by inserting an image of the article produced on theproduction card, thereby providing an overview of the articles that are simultaneouslycut in the laser machine. The QR-code is linked to additional reporting in thebusiness system for each work center, which, thus, constitutes a first step towardsdigital order cards in production.
