The association between attachment style and uni- and bi-directional pursuer-distancer patterns in couples: A clinical sample of couples in counseling

This study examined the relationship between adult attachment style and pursuer-distancer patterns in couples. Both uni- and bi-directional pursuer-distancer patterns were studied. Participants were 67 individuals (including 32 couples) in therapy. Each partner, independent of the other, completed an anonymous questionnaire containing the Multi-item Measure of Adult Romantic Attachment (Brennan, Clark, & Shaver, 1998) and a four-item measure of pursuer-distancer pattern designed for this study. The relationship between male dismissing attachment style and the presence of a pursuer-distancer pattern in the couple approached significance. Analyses of attachment style and the specific direction of the pursuer-distancer pattern as a couple-level variable were non-significant. However, when self-report of pursuer-distancer pattern was analyzed as an individual-level variable, a significant relationship was found between pursuing and a preoccupied attachment style and between distancing and a dismissing attachment style. Fearful attachment style was related to bi-directional pursuer-distancer pattern when measured by partner's report but not when measured by self-report. Dismissing and fearful attachment styles in males were related to lower relationship satisfaction in males and females. Pursuer-distancer patterns (particularly female-pursue and bi-directional patterns) were significantly related to lower relationship satisfaction in males and females. No relationship was found between attachment style or pursuer-distancer pattern report and the gender of the participant. Implications for treating pursuer-distancer patterns couples are discussed. / Master of Science

Η διπλωματική αυτή εργασία έχει ως αντικείμενο μελέτης εφαρμογές / διεργασίες στα ρομποτικά σμήνη. Οι εφαρμογές / διεργασίες που εξετάζονται είναι η καλυψιμότητα χώρου, η διατήρηση συνδεσιμότητας και τα παιχνίδια κυνηγού - κυνηγούμενου. Συγκεκριμένα, εξετάζονται δύο μέθοδοι καλυψιμότητας χώρου: κίνηση προς το κεντροειδές και κίνηση προς τη βάθμωση. Εισάγονται οι επικοινωνιακοί περιορισμοί και προτείνονται περιορισμοί κίνησης που εξασφαλίζουν διατήρηση N-hop συνδεσιμότητας, οι οποίοι έπειτα προσαρμόζονται στην καλυψιμότητα χώρου. Αναλύονται δύο τακτικές κυνηγού: οι έμμεσοι κυνηγοί και η τακτική περικύκλωσης, και προτείνονται δύο τακτικές για τους κυνηγούμενους. Η πρώτη αποτελεί μία παθητική αποφυγή των κυνηγών, ενώ η δεύτερη μια πιο δυναμική συνεργατική τακτική. Τέλος, προσομοιώσεις συνοδεύουν όλα τα παραπάνω μέρη, που επιβεβαιώνουν την αποτελεσματικότητά τους και προσφέρουν σύγκριση των διάφορων μεθόδων για την κάθε εφαρμογή. / This thesis addresses applications / tasks of robotic swarms. The applications / tasks presented are the area coverage, communication maintenance and pursuer - evasion games. Two methods for area coverage are examined; centroid and gradient movement. Communication constraints are considered and movement constraints are proposed, such that the swarm's N-hop connectivity is retained. Then the contraints are adapted for the area coverage problem. After that, two pursuing tactics are examined; the indirect pursuers and the blanket movement, and two evader tactics are proposed. The first is a passive pursuers avoidance, while the second is a more dynamic collaborative tactic. Finally, simulations accompanying the above sections, confirm the efficiency and offer a comparison between the different methods in each application.

(in English): Julio Cortázar is considered as one of the greatest literary figures of Argentina and Latin America of the last century and to him is dedicated this master's thesis, focused on translation of his work into Czech language. First part of the thesis is theoretically based, dealing with biography, creation and style of the author and then moves to figures of his Czech translators, problems arising from translation and perception and development of translations of Cortázar's works in Czech environment. The second part is practically oriented, pursuing the analysis and comparison of translations of specific works - two translations of a story The Pursuer by translators Kamil Uhlíř and Jan Machej and two versions of translation of a novel Hopscotch by Vladimír Medek.
