Theoretical part of this work is concerned about historical roots of the theatre play Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen. It is also concerned about history of Estate Theater in Pra-gue, where the play should take place. I am also concerned about the background of the author Henrik Ibsen's life. And also part of the work is about other previews authors, that have been working on the play before. In Practical part I offer new solution for visual part of the drama in context of present time and space.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to introduce Victorian authoresses of the second half of the 19th century and concept of fictional novelistic spaces. Firstly, the thesis will shortly present the main authoresses of the Victorian novels in the social context of the 19th century (the Brontë sisters, George Eliot). Secondly, it will focus on the analysis of the last of George Eliot's novels, 'Daniel Deronda' (comparing it with her earlier novel 'The Mill on the Floss') with the emphasis on the changes of the concept of space in the novel, in which the Jewish theme dominates, and it will also describe searching for the roots and traditions in the personal life of the hero. Finally, the thesis will aim at European context of the concepts of novelistic spaces and it will evaluate the importance of the last novel written by George Eliot.

This diploma thesis is describing life of Czech poet, prosaic and dramatist Frantisek Xaver Svoboda, thesis is also focused on summary and period categorization of his writings. Main focus is especially on writings in which Svoboda describing daily life in Czech village. Writings which are about that topic are novel chronicle Rozkvět, drama Rozklad and novel in verse Noví vesničané. Thesis is not focused only on interpretation of that writings, but also on point of view, how Svoboda portraying countryside, on main motives his village´s pieces of work and thesis providing also how Svoboda is enriching theme of the rural production and which new elements Svoboda is bringing to this genre. Also this thesis providing Svoboda´s impact and why he felt in oblivion.

The aim of the Masters thesis is to connect Masaryk's theoretical thinking about democracy with his political practice. The first part of this thesis explains the concept of democracy and changes of the approaches to democracy in European thought. The second part clarifies the Masaryk's thoughts on democracy, politics, morality, humanity and realism which develops in the context of Czech nation and it's history. The third and final part of this thesis depicts the Masaryk practical politics and his participation in public life. In particular it describes the public disputes in which Masaryk figured, his parliamentary activities, a working and a program of czechoslovak resistence abroad and his life as the President of the Czechoslovak Republic. The analytical and comparative methods are used in this thesis. Keywords democracy, policy, morality, humanity, realism, czech question
