Μαγαρισιώτης, Κωνσταντίνος 06 December 2013 (has links)
Blogs have become an essential part of our daily internet routine. We trust them both for our entertainment and even more for our information. Among the plethora of blogs and articles and the limited free time of our daily life, there has been created the need to view only the information that corresponds to our personal tastes and needs. The object of this thesis is to create a recommender system which will adapt the information individually on every user. The system takes account the user’s profile and his reading pattern, so it can propose to him only the information that he is most likely to read and like. The system provides capabilities such as reading the latest blog posts, reading articles from predefined categories, proposing articles and blogs for each user based on his profile and his preferences and searching the web or the system for blog posts based on some keywords. The system is set up in such a way that most functions are automated and does not require user intervention. The users aren't required to take any other action than completing their profile. The system records and analyzes their movements in order for the results to be customized accordingly. Here lie the system innovations. The system's proposal engine includes a combination of different recommendation techniques with the aim to show the articles that really interest the user. The system is characterized by its dynamic form as it never stops learning. It is constantly evolving as it records and assimilates any changes in the movement patterns of users.

Tabulky pro stanovení výše výživného - role a efektivita v soudní praxi / The Table for Determination of Alimony - the Role and Efficiency in Judicial Practice

Dvořáková, Jitka January 2013 (has links)
Three years ago, the Ministry of Justice in the Czech Republic stated in judicial practice a recommending table whose intention was to unify the decision-making practice of courts in determining of alimony. The table should rectify a vague treatment of the maintenance obligations, guarantee a legal certainty for all participants and predictability of decisions. The alimony often covers only a part of all costs for a child under conditions that it is paid. The situation is even more problematic because the single-parent families with minors usually belong to the households which are mostly threatened by poverty. These families are most often headed by woman, who bears the brunt of caretaker and breadwinner roles. Their role is also influenced by the disadvantageous position at a labour market. The result of all these factors is usually a feminization of poverty and transmission of the standard of living from a mother to a child. My research interviews were focused on the fact if the table is used in practice. I evaluate its efficiency and represent modifications suggested by the courts. The analysis showed that not all courts use the table or use it at different levels. It is a consequence of reading of the word "recommending". This fact indicates a neglect of any need to use and a broader context...

Analýza práce žáků s programem "Obkreslovačka" / The Analysis of the pupils' work with the program "Obkreslovačka"

VÍTKOVÁ, Tereza January 2010 (has links)
The main goal of this work is to chart interaction of children with the {\clqq}Obkreslovačka`` game. I primarily focus on various strategies for solving exercises where pupils are supposed to encircle certain shapes. I propose and describe three different strategies and evaluate their existence. Part of this work is a statistic compilation of pupil´s success rates while solving exercises from individual sets as well as the statistics of success of each set. I examine the way how children work with this program {--} what problems do they have, what is easy for them and which exercises cause them the biggest problems. I focus on the differences between boys and girls while using concrete strategies and the differences while solving exercises. I am evaluating the suitability of the ``Obkreslovačka{\crqq} game for pupils and recommending this game to a specific age group. Part of my work is based on theoretical knowledge and supplemental data, part is based on my own practical experiences. practicalexperiences.

Recommending best answer in a collaborative question answering system

Chen, Lin January 2009 (has links)
The World Wide Web has become a medium for people to share information. People use Web-based collaborative tools such as question answering (QA) portals, blogs/forums, email and instant messaging to acquire information and to form online-based communities. In an online QA portal, a user asks a question and other users can provide answers based on their knowledge, with the question usually being answered by many users. It can become overwhelming and/or time/resource consuming for a user to read all of the answers provided for a given question. Thus, there exists a need for a mechanism to rank the provided answers so users can focus on only reading good quality answers. The majority of online QA systems use user feedback to rank users’ answers and the user who asked the question can decide on the best answer. Other users who didn’t participate in answering the question can also vote to determine the best answer. However, ranking the best answer via this collaborative method is time consuming and requires an ongoing continuous involvement of users to provide the needed feedback. The objective of this research is to discover a way to recommend the best answer as part of a ranked list of answers for a posted question automatically, without the need for user feedback. The proposed approach combines both a non-content-based reputation method and a content-based method to solve the problem of recommending the best answer to the user who posted the question. The non-content method assigns a score to each user which reflects the users’ reputation level in using the QA portal system. Each user is assigned two types of non-content-based reputations cores: a local reputation score and a global reputation score. The local reputation score plays an important role in deciding the reputation level of a user for the category in which the question is asked. The global reputation score indicates the prestige of a user across all of the categories in the QA system. Due to the possibility of user cheating, such as awarding the best answer to a friend regardless of the answer quality, a content-based method for determining the quality of a given answer is proposed, alongside the non-content-based reputation method. Answers for a question from different users are compared with an ideal (or expert) answer using traditional Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing techniques. Each answer provided for a question is assigned a content score according to how well it matched the ideal answer. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methods, each recommended best answer is compared with the best answer determined by one of the most popular link analysis methods, Hyperlink-Induced Topic Search (HITS). The proposed methods are able to yield high accuracy, as shown by correlation scores: Kendall correlation and Spearman correlation. The reputation method outperforms the HITS method in terms of recommending the best answer. The inclusion of the reputation score with the content score improves the overall performance, which is measured through the use of Top-n match scores.
