Towards a permeable Spirit ecclesiology in the context of North IndiaBar, Swarup January 2017 (has links)
This research offers permeable Spirit ecclesiology as a viable way forward for the churches in the context of the challenges in North India. Broadly, the challenges of the church in North India are twofold: one, to be an Indian Christian church amidst the plural religio-cultural context; second, to be in solidarity with the struggles of the marginalised. In other words, the church arguably ought to be relational with other communities and rooted in the North Indian context; on the other, it should critically and distinctly witness for Christ as a community of liberation in the context of the struggles of the marginalised. Thus, the church in North India arguably needs a relational-distinctive dialectics to address the challenges. This calls for a church with permeable borders to uphold the above in tension. I show that such dialectics can be upheld if ecclesiology in North India is construed from a pneumatological perspective with a Christological dimension. In dialogue with both Western and Indian theologians I show that a permeable Spirit ecclesiology is a viable way forward for the churches in North India.

Previous issue date: 2013-11-06 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research addresses the geographical size of the Earth Pilgrimages of Paraná - occurring since 1985 - with emphasis on the agricultural aspects, especially the fight and stay on earth. The "local" to the completion of Pilgrimages, hymns, songs, speeches, political and religious rituals are laden with geographic content and constitute the main axis of this study. The main objectives were to analyze the Pilgrimages were produced Earth Paraná, by whom and for whom. By analyzing the 26 th Pilgrimage Earth Paraná , which happened in August 2012, we sought through interviews and informal conversations, analyzing the profile of the pilgrims land , paying attention to the following aspects: their place of origin, its form displacement, their belonging to religious and political groups and their aspirations as pilgrims. Maps, photos, posters, pictures and videos were used, and if these had access through TV documentaries produced by the Who . The results proved the importance and relevance of Earth Pilgrimages of Paraná in Paraná represent the agrarian landscape. / A presente pesquisa aborda a dimensão geográfica das Romarias da Terra do Paraná que acontecem desde 1985 dando ênfase aos aspectos agrários, sobretudo a luta e a permanência na terra. O local da realização das Romarias, os hinos, cânticos, discursos, rituais religiosos e políticos estão carregados de conteúdo geográfico e se constituem no eixo principal desse estudo. Os principais objetivos foram analisar como eram produzidas as Romarias da Terra do Paraná, por quem e para quem. Ao analisar a 26ª Romaria da Terra do Paraná, que aconteceu em agosto de 2012, buscou-se, através de entrevistas e conversas informais, analisar o perfil dos romeiros da terra, atentando aos seguintes aspectos: seu local de origem, a sua forma de deslocamento, seu pertencimento a grupos religiosos e políticos e seus anseios enquanto romeiros. Military Religio: Caesar's Religiosity Vindicated by WarfareAdkins, Austin L 08 1900 (has links)
Gaius Julius Caesar remains one of the most studied characters of antiquity. His personality, political career, and military campaigns have garnered numerous scholarly treatments, as have his alleged aspirations to monarchy and divinity. However, comparatively little detailed work has been done to examine his own personal religiosity and even less attention has been paid to his religion in the context of his military conquests. I argue that Caesar has wrongly been deemed irreligious or skeptical and that his conduct while on campaign demonstrates that he was a religious man. Within the Roman system of religion, ritual participation was more important than faith or belief. Caesar pragmatically manipulated the Romans' flexible religious framework to secure military advantage almost entirely within the accepted bounds of religious conduct. If strict observance of ritual was the measure of Roman religiosity, then Caesar exceeded the religious expectations of his rank and office. The evidence reveals that he was an exemplar of Roman religio throughout both the Gallic Wars (58-51BC) and the subsequent Civil Wars (49-45BC).

L’objectif de cette thèse est de saisir les modalités et les logiques d’agencements des pratiques religieuses de guérison en région betsileo, dans les Hautes Terres centrales de Madagascar. Dans ce contexte, les rituels de soin sont le fait des devins-guérisseurs et des possédés par des esprits d’ancêtres familiaux, royaux et/ou aux esprits de la nature, mais également des exorcistes laïcs du mouvement de Réveil protestant luthérien (fifohazana), apparu dans le village betsileo de Soatanàna en 1894. Cette recherche a principalement été menée dans la capitale régionale, Fianarantsoa, et ses environs. Il est alors question, par le biais des acteurs du champ religio-thérapeutique (les guérisseurs et leurs malades), de comprendre comment les soins se juxtaposent malgré la tenue de discours imperméables les uns aux les autres. Les itinéraires thérapeutiques mènent les malades dans les salles de soin du domicile des devins-guérisseurs, les salles d’accueil du mouvement de Réveil, les lieux de culte publics (dans la ville de Fianarantsoa et dans les forêts environnantes), les étals des herboristes des marchés urbains, ou encore les hôpitaux et dispensaires. Ainsi, la dimension centrale du territoire religieux apparaîtra comme centrale dans ces logiques de cumulations, en région betsileo, à Madagascar, mais aussi dans les Églises protestantes malgaches de l’étranger (FPMA). En ce sens, le rapport au religio-thérapeutique se construit dans un espace mondialisé et négocie avec les codes de la biomédecine. / The aim of this thesis is to understand the modalities and the logics of arrangements in religious healing practices in Betsileo region, in the central highlands of Madagascar. In this context, the ritual treatments are offered by soothsayers-healers and possessed by family ancestors, royal ancestors and/or spirits of the nature, but also the exorcists of the lutheran protestant movement of Revival (fifohazana), who appeared in the Betsileo village of Soatanàna, in 1894. This research was principally conducted in the regional capital, Fianarantsoa, and its surroundings. This study aims, by examining religio-therapeutic process, to investigate the juxtaposition of healing methods in spite of impervious discourses. Therapeutic itineraries lead patients to treatment rooms in soothsayers-healers’ homes, to reception rooms of the Revival movement, to public places of worship (in the city of Fianarantsoa and surrounding forest areas), to herbalist market stalls in urban areas, or tohospitals and dispensaries. Thus, the central dimension of religious territoriality appears as central to these cumulative logics in the Betsileo region, in Madagascar, but also in Malagasy Protestant Church abroad (FPMA). In this sense, the relation to religious-therapeutic is constructed in a globalized world and is negociated with the codes of biomedicine.
