Modus vivendi. : Om könsidentitetens motstånd och beständighet i kvinnodominerade yrken. / Modus vivendi. : The opposition and permanency of the gender identity in occupations overrepresented by women.

Flärdh, Jacob January 2008 (has links)

The aim for this study was to find out what strategies women use to not react against inequality and sexist prejudice. In the study I used a critical realistic approach through, primary, the social ontology presented by Margaret S. Archer. The study focus on both the women’s construction of femininity and their construction of masculinity and what directions it constitutes for the women’s social orientation. By using abduction, retroduction and interviews I found that exclusion and usurpation, distanciation and ontologization of, and from their situation gives the women a psychological confirm of not react by opposition and it will therefore be a logical decision to maintain status qou. The status qou is also the aim for their personal orientation to keep the identity as manageable as possible and by that enforce a modus vivendi. This will also constitute and reproduce the ideology of equality and therefore not challenge an unequal structure due to the cooping of the challenges that is exposed for there own identity as women
