Plán krizové připravenosti zdravotnického zařízení Itibo / Crisis preparedness plan of Itibo medical facility.

ZDRAŽIL, Vladimír January 2019 (has links)
Crisis management is a dynamic science. This is particularly true for developing world countries like Kenya. The aim of this work is to contribute to the prevention or minimization of risks and possibly to manage their consequences within the project of the Czech medical facility Itibo in the southwestern part of Kenya. This facility, thanks to a group of enthusiasts and support of many people, helped tens of thousands of patients since 2005 who would otherwise not have access to health care. In the framework of the thesis, a risk analysis was elaborated based on a local survey, which was subsequently evaluated, and its results used to create a "Plan of preparedness for emergencies." The plan is a practically applicable tool for managing non-standard situations that occur relatively frequently in the project site. An essential part was the active involvement of the author in the actual functioning of the Itibo healthcare facility in the form of an internship. The main benefit of the work is a plan intended for health-educated persons, who mostly do not have knowledge in the field of crisis management. The benefit is also an insight into the issue of crisis management in the area of health care in another country, which is very different in most of its parameters.

High-profile crisis management in Australian and New Zealand organisations

Del Rio, Victor Unknown Date (has links) (PDF)
This thesis demonstrates that it is paramount to develop crisis-preparedness strategies and practices based on empirical research, in order to improve an organisation‘s ability to manage effectively and, ultimately to survive, a high-profile crisis event. Although there are many high-profile crises that have been managed successfully by applying strategies to make organisations more resilient, there is still considerable confusion and uncertainty about the way these crises have been evaluated and the way their success can be measured in relation to other crises. There are no international crisis-preparedness standards in relation to a set of crisis outcomes indicators that could be applied. This lack of empirically proven relationships between crisis-preparedness strategies and their effect on crisis outcomes makes the identification of effective strategies very difficult. Case studies, anecdotal evidence and a limited number of empirical crisis management studies (i.e. effect on share price) suggest a great variability in the effectiveness of certain strategies and practices that have produced inconclusive results. This study analyses the strategies variability to advance knowledge in the field of crisis management. (For complete abstract open document)

Analýza propojení adaptačních opatření s omezováním rizika katastrof v kontextu environmentální bezpečnosti / Analysis of the interconnection between adaptation measures and disaster risk reduction in the context of environmental security

Sebőková, Angelika January 2016 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis is to present a detailed analysis of the currently achieved level of common interconnection between adaptation measures to climate change and disaster risk reduction approach in selected documents. The analysis was based on a group of predetermined keywords. The theoretical basis for this research is the concept o environmental security. According to the selected theoretical concepts the thesis identifies current obstacles of the synergy of both types of measures, and offers suggestions and solutions to overcome them. Results of the analysis showed an insufficient level of interconnection between measures, especially in the internationally binding agreements. They define only the widest context of their implementation and, moreover, do not work with the aspect of building and sustaining environmental security at all. Nationally binding documents on the contrary show a detailed mutual interconnection of the both types of measures. They are sector-oriented and complement each other in the terms of more effective implementation of measures. They are as well the only documents referring directly to the need of building environmental security, as one of the basic preconditions for maintaining the overall security of natural and socioeconomic systems.
