Nosso trabalho tem por objetivo descrever um dos aspectos religiosos do homem afro-brasileiro e suas formas de resistência, na busca da reconstrução e preservação dos valores fundamentais para a sua existência. O maracatu é, a princípio, uma tentativa de restauração, em terra estranha, de dinastias desbaratadas pelo sistema de escravidão., tendo tido a sua origem e o seu apogeu nas portas das igrejas, com suas irmandades. O maracatu surge em nosso estado, ainda no período colonial, como forma de resistência e manutenção da religião do homem afro-descendente. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o maracatu como um nicho de interpretação e preservação dos valores culturais afro-brasileiros que, na sua constelação simbólica faz uma experiência religiosa na qual o elemento fundamental do ethos africano é reinterpretado, celebrado e socializado entre as pessoas envolvidas / Our work has for objective to describe one of the religious aspects of the man afro-brazilian and one of its forms of resistance, in the search of the reconstruction and preservation of the basic values for its existence.
