This thesis deals with the book as a medium and its comparison with other media available in the nursery schools in the Czech Republic. There is a definition of the media and the book in relation to a child of the pre-school age in the first part. This theoretical part is followed by an investigative survey carried out in nursery schools, which is focused on the views of teachers in nursery schools, parents and children as well. The final section depicts the project how the book can be used during the educational process in a nursery school.

in English Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old) This graduate work deals with the Fairy Tale Test and its application in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part presents characteristics of children in preschool, early school and middle school age. This section is concerned with importance of the fairy tales for children and emphasis is especially laid on fairy tales that uses the Fairy Tale Test. It presents the problems with children's diagnosis and introduces the Fairy Tale Test. The empirical part deals with the practical use of the Fairy Tale Test in the Czech Republic. Test was used in 60 boys aged 6-12 years from the capital city. The obtained data of children 6-7 years old was compared with data of another region. The data of 8-12 years old was compared with the CPQ and Questionnaire style education using correlation analysis. The data show that the Fairy Tale test is a good diagnostic tool with broad application also in the Czech Republic. Hopefully it will be soon standardized for the Czech Republic. Objectives: The present study aims to assess postural maturity groups of children younger than school age, who regularly, at least a year, dedicated to volleyball. Annotation: My master's thesis deals with the gypsy children in schools. The main goal of the thesis was to find out success rate of gypsy pupils in finishing elementary schools and special classes by the elementary school, and to find out how teachers work with gypsy children and what the experience of teachers in working with gypsy kids are. The next part of my research focuses on gypsy pupils in the fifth grade and how they see their future and their prospects. In the end of my research focused on educational counseling I investigated how the educational counselor and teacher can influence education of a gypsy pupil in the school. The whole thesis is divided into four chapters. First three chapters are focused on theory. This paper presents the results of our research. Its aim was to explore the wide field of understanding archaisms or rare expressions by 11 to 15-year-old school-age children. For this purpose, a questionnaire was designed and distributed to several Czech elementary and secondary/high schools owing to the help and co-operation of six local teachers. The data obtained by the questionnaire were qualitatively analyzed and interpreted in terms of the strategies our respondents used to understand the unfamiliar or less familiar words. The issue of reading comprehension was also touched upon. At the same time, quantitative aspects of the relation between the level of understanding and certain variables, namely the age and gender of the respondents, were revealed.
