Location Based Task-To-Do Manager

Ever had an experience of forgetting to do something very important on a place you just past?. Remembering, on arrival at your destination afterward, requires an action to return to the task location. This can be unproductive and perhaps result to frustration. The purpose of this thesis is to develop a “Location Task-To-Do manager” an android mobile application that will efficiently organizes task-to-do list and remind an individual to perform a task at a pre-defined location through notification and alert messages. The methods used includes,  investigation of pre-existing systems, requirement elicitation survey technique, three-tier architecture design pattern, iterative development life-cycle model, acceptance test plan and a sets of other technology such as  Java SDK, Android APIs, TCP/IP protocol, object oriented programing techniques and MySql relational database. The result showed that, installed “Location Task-To-Do manager” application on individual mobile devices/smartphones were capable of creating task, adding task, editing task, deleting task, sharing task and setting task location through its user friendly graphical interfaces. Users are able to receive notification to perform a task within a minimum distance of 1km to the exact task location.

Esminis šio darbo siekis yra išanalizuoti „Android“ operacinės sistemos (OS) programų kūrimo įrankių galimybes. Remiantis darbo rezultatais, matome, kad ši OS uţima daugiausiai rinkos pagal pardavimus. Taip pat yra įţvelgiama, kad pasirinktas programavimo įrankių komplektas (Android SDK) nėra iki galo išdirbtas programų kūrimui, tačiau nelabai yra iš ko rinktis, kadangi alternatyvios programavimo aplinkos reikalauja jos įdiegimo. Reikia pridurti, kad testavimui yra būtina naudoti realius fizinius įrenginius. Taip pat norėtųsi paminėti, kad šiai OS buvo rastas tik vienas programinis įrankis (FuturEye), skirtas šilumos pernešimo uţdaviniams spręsti. / The main purpose of this work is to make an analysis of abilities of tools for development of Android operating system programs. In the view of the work results, we can conclude, that this OS has the biggest part of the market share by sales. Also we can see, that we are left with only one choice for development tools (Android SDK) of Android programs, because all other programming environments require that Android SDK must be installed. For a more accurate programming results, one should test applications on real devices. In addition, we should say, that only one programming tool (FuturEye) was found for heat transfer problems evaluation.

Jag har under min tid på Blekinges Tekniska Högskola jobbat som timvikarie på ett LSS-boende för personer med olika funktionsnedsättningar på Olofströms kommun i Blekinge. Där kom min tanke fram att jag ville slå ihop mitt jobb och skolarbete för att skapa något för en väldigt specifik men ändå bred målgrupp. Det har alltid funnits ett intresse hos mig i att skapa applikationer till handhållna enheter såsom surfplattor och smartphones, och att de inte bara används till saker som att ringa och skicka sms utan att de även används som hjälpmedel och läromedel. Jag har använt mig utav metodologin deltagande design, där jag har jobbat tillsammans personer som har kognitiv funktionsnedsättning vilket innebär att man har någon form utav funktionsnedsättning i hjärnan. Under utvecklingen har dessa personer varit med ända från början till idé ända fram till prototyp, då jag behövde ha deras erfarenheter jag själv inte besatt för att veta hur jag skulle forma applikationen runt just deras behov. Med all erfarenhet som dessa personer gett mig i arbetet så har jag skapat en mobilapplikations-prototyp utifrån deras känslor och idéer. Idéer som har kommit upp under våra workshops, där vi diskuterade vilka vardagliga aktiviteter de själva tyckte var roliga att göra utomhus samt inomhus, och hur hade man kunnat göra dessa vardagliga aktiviteter roligare? Två idéer som vi sedan slog ihop till en vilket var promenader och picknick. En applikation där det är tänkt att de ska ha möjligheten att kunna bjuda sina vänner och familj på picknick, genom att göra en slags lista över vad de vill ha med sig på picknicken och göra ett evenemang av det hela / During my time at Blekinge Institute of Technology I’ve worked at a LSS housing facility in Olofström, Blekinge. It was there I got the idea to merge my job and schoolwork to create something for a very specific target group. I have always been interested in creating applications for hand-held devices such as tablets and smartphones that are used as aids and teaching materials. I’m using the methodology participatory design, and along with people that lives with cognitive disabilities, meaning they have some form of disability in their brain, I developed a prototype. I needed their experience and knowledge because I don’t know how I would shape the application to fit their needs otherwise. With all the experience these people gave me, I created a prototype based on their feelings and ideas, ideas that have been brought up in our workshops. In the workshops we discussed the everyday activities they thought were fun, outdoors as well as indoors, and what could make those activities even more enjoyable. The two ideas that we emerged with, and later merged, were walking 4 and picknicking. The idea is for an application where you have the opportunity to invite your friends and family to a picknick. You make a list of what you want to include on the picknick and then create an event.

This master thesis focuses on the design and implementation of software component for manipulating 3D objects. Work includes a general description of hand,hand gestures aspects of distribution, basic image preprocessing methods, detailed description of the classification methods, description of Kinect device and libraries for image processing. The practical part deals with the design and implementation of software component named Tool into ArcScene application, design and implementation of gestures that emulate a 3D mouse functionality. The component is implemented in C# programming language with Kinect SDK library. This gesture recognition system is based on the FSM method with success 80--97%.

En la actualidad, no existe gran variedad de herramientas que permitan a la comunidad de desarrolladores Android implementar aplicaciones orientadas a entornos de múltiples pantallas y que, adicionalmente, les permitan cumplir con lo descrito por Ensemble Interactions y los patrones de diseño definidos para estos entornos, los cuales, en conjunto, son conceptos que proponen el trabajo en conjunto de todos los dispositivos disponibles en un mismo entorno. Por otro lado, de las pocas herramientas que permiten el desarrollo de este tipo de aplicaciones, algunas han sido implementadas por grandes empresas desarrolladoras de dispositivos móviles que limitan sus herramientas para que funcionen únicamente con los dispositivos que le pertenecen. Por todo ello, este trabajo busca implementar una herramienta que permita a la comunidad de desarrolladores Android desarrollar aplicaciones móviles orientadas a entornos de múltiples dispositivos y que se alineen a lo definido por Ensemble Interactions y los patrones de diseño. Dicha herramienta basará la interacción entre los dispositivos sobre una red Wi-Fi sin la necesidad que esta cuente con acceso a internet. Asimismo, esta herramienta estará disponible en dos versiones, una para el desarrollo de aplicaciones Android y otra para el desarrollo de aplicaciones en Samsung Smart TVs. A continuación, en el primer capítulo se expondrá el proyecto y su gestión. Luego, se dará paso al marco teórico sobre el que se basa este trabajo. En el tercer capítulo se analizará a detalle la situación actual de todas herramientas y tecnologías que permiten desarrollar aplicaciones orientadas a entornos de múltiples pantallas. A continuación, en el quinto capítulo describirá la metodología de trabajo empleada en el desarrollo de este proyecto y los resultados obtenidos. En el sexto capítulo se presentará el producto final del trabajo y las medidas de gestión tomadas a lo largo de su desarrollo. Finalmente, se listarán las conclusiones y recomendaciones propuestas con este trabajo.
