Optimisation de la chaîne de numérisation 3D : de la surface au maillage semi-régulier / 3D digitization optimization : from surface to semi-regular mesh

Peyrot, Jean-Luc 12 December 2014 (has links)
Nowadays, 3D digitization systems generate numeric representations that are both realistic and of high geometric accuracy with respect to real surfaces. However, this geometric accuracy, obtained by oversampling surfaces, increases significantly the generated amount of data. Consequently, the resulting meshes are very dense, and not suitable to be visualized, transmitted or even stored efficiently. Nevertheless, the semi-regular representation due to its scalable and compact representation, overcomes this problem. This thesis aims at optimizing the classic 3D digitization chain, by first improving the sampling of surfaces while preserving geometric features, and secondly shortening the number of required treatments to obtain such semi-regular meshes. To achieve this goal, we integrated in a stereoscopic system the Poisson-disk sampling that realizes a good tradeoff between undersampling and oversampling, thanks to its blue noise properties. Then, we produced a semi-regular meshing technique that directly works on the stereoscopic images, and not on a meshed version of point clouds, which are usually generated by such 3D scanners. Experimental results prove that our contributions efficiently generate semi-regular representations, which are accurate with respect to real surfaces, while reducing the generated amount of data.

This work presents a method that allows the deformation of a terrain by modifying your heightmap in an augmented reality environment. The hierarchical structure of A4 8 meshes was used to represent terrains. This structure defines a parameter space to calculate the coordinates of a field in the R3 Euclidean space. In particular, this paper deals with the problem of modeling spherical terrains. An error metric dependent on the observer and the geometry of the land used for its observation and modeling. The results demonstrate that the use of A4-8 mesh combined with the tangible augmented reality system is flexible to shape spherical terrains and can be easily modified to deal with other topologies, such as the torus and the cylinder. The development of an efficient and intuitive to use method for mesh generation, based on augmented reality markers, is the main contribution of this work.

[en] HIERARCHICAL OPTIMIZATION IN PARAMETERIZATION OF TRIANGULAR SURFACES BY LOCAL DOMAINS WITH APPLICATIONS IN SEMI-REGULAR REMESHING / [pt] OTIMIZAÇÃO HIERÁRQUICA NA PARAMETRIZAÇÃO DE SUPERFÍCIES TRIANGULARIZADAS POR DOMÍNIOS LOCAIS COM APLICAÇÕES NO REMALHAMENTO SEMIRREGULAR

PABLO VINICIUS FERREIRA TELLES 16 December 2020 (has links)
[en] The parameterization of triangulated, oriented and free boundary surfaces does not take place in a single planar domain, and sometimes are sensitive to discontinuities introduced between the various planars domains requested. Therefore, a non-planar base domain is required with a differentiable structure, as well as a parameterization of the surface by this domain. The main approach of this thesis uses a multi-triangulation structure that directs the simplification of the initial surface to base surface and proposes a hierarchical projection of the initial vertices on the domain. A hierarchical projection is combined with a parameterization system of the initial surface composed of local domains related by smooth transition maps. As an application, the semi-regular remeshing of triangulated surfaces converts an input surface, possibly irregular, to another surface with semi-regular triangulation. The quality of the triangulation and the shape preserving are important aspects for the remeshing and are resulting from the components merge used during its building, such as the base surface that approximate the initial free boundary surface, refinement of the semi-regular surface and geometric fitting. An important challenge is the geometric fitting that results from the parameterization of the initial surface. The hierarchical optimization carried out in these local domains that minimizes the distortion energies produced by the parameterizations, such as the base surface attributes are fundamental to the quality of this remeshing. The hierarchical structure allows flexibility during optimization and influences the convergence time.
