Nastolování agendy masovými sdělovacími prostředky / Agenda Setting Role of Mass Media

Veselka, Petr January 2014 (has links)
The goal of here below presented text is the introduction of the concept of the agenda setting and to try to prove the validity of this theory on the thematic field of economic policy in the period from January 2009 to March 2010. For this purpose two data sets were used. The first one, which represents the public agenda, contains the data from continuous research of public opinion realized by the Public opinion research center (CVVM). The second one is the result of the quantitative content analysis of the TV news and presents the importance of the above mentioned thematic field in the media agenda. For proving of the causal relationship in between those two agendas the method of the pair correlations was used. The results confirm the relatively strong correlation between the media coverage of the topic and its position in the public agenda`s framework. It has been proved that an important role in the whole process represents the fact whether the news is domestic or foreign as well as the importance of gender. The time factor appeared also as a main intervening variable.

DN Debatts överskattade inflytande på andra medier : En studie av debattsidans genomslagskraft i Aktuellt, Ekot, Göteborgs Posten och Västerbottens-Kuriren

Nilsson, Hanna, Jarl, Arlette January 2007 (has links)
This study intends to examine the impact of a well known debate page in one of Sweden’s biggest newspapers, Dagens Nyheter. We have done this by analysing Ekot, Aktuellt, Göteborgs Posten and Västerbottens-Kuriren to see to what extent they “take” news from the debate page. The method used was content analysis and to describe some of our thoughts about how we placed the hits in different categories we chose eight of our hits to exemplify. The material from the newspapers, radio and television was examined to discover the potential impact from the debate page. To carry out this study we have mainly used theories about how media get influenced by each other’s news and how they do follow-ups and refer to the original media. Other theories of importance for our study are for example those about what kinds of events that become news and how media influences people’s thoughts about what’s important. One of the most important conclusions we were able to draw after carrying out our study was that the debate page in Dagens Nyheter has quite a small impact on what our chosen media reported on. The biggest impact was found in the newspapers, whereas radio and television very seldom referred to the debate page. To sum up, one can absolutely say that the debate page in Dagens Nyheter is powerful and do have impact on other media, but an article published on the page is not automatically discussed and debated in other media during the day.

It is based on previous studies , where the relationship between the media and the public agenda confirmed sociologist McCombs (Dearing a Rogers 1996: 6). On the sources it is trying to establish a linkage on the specific topic of the church restitutions , which discusses in particular the development and opinions both in the media and in the public agenda. In contrast to previous pieces I try to penetrate deeper into the linkage between media and public agenda and investigate their mutual correspondence. For analyzing the media agenda, the author uses the method of content analysis of newspaper articles in selected printed media. Then the result is compared to a secondary analysis of survey data Naše společnost, that realized the Center for Public Opinion Research, which represents the public agenda in this case. Vliv globálních zpravodajských agentur na podobu zahraničních rubrik v českém periodickém tisku / Influence of Global News Agencies on the Form of Foreign News in Czech Daily Press

Vlčková, Daniela January 2019 (has links)
What effect do global news agencies have on foreign sections of Czech daily newspapers; that's the focus of this master thesis. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces two before-mentioned concepts of intermedia agenda-setting and globalization of news. Other theoretical concepts like gatekeeping, news values or media routine are also briefly presented. So are profiles of selected media outlets are also presented. Next part of the thesis introduces the reader to methodology upon which the research is based. The research itself is divided into two parts. The first one is a quantitative content analysis of ČTK's foreign news agenda during the specified period. The same analysis was also carried out for selected Czech daily newspapers. The research focused on several variables - what media sources are being used, what topics do the articles cover or who are the actors mentioned in the articles. The second part of the research focused on whether and on what scale do daily papers use texts provided by ČTK and if they're being used without adjustments. Main findings of the research with commentary are presented in the conclusion section of this thesis.
