Musik är mycket mer än en sång, den stimulerar inlärningen. Syftet med studien har varit att undersöka musikens betydelse för nyanlända barn då det kommer till språkinlärning. Studien bygger på semistrukturerade intervjuer där frågeområdena är skrivna i förväg men med möjlighet till olika följdfrågor. Intervjuerna genomfördes med två pedagoger på en förskola för nyanlända barn. Studien grundas på det sociokulturella perspektivet där språket och lärandet bygger på en gemenskap mellan barnen men även pedagogers samvaro. Respondenterna var eniga om att musiken hade en stor betydelse för barns språkinlärning för nyanlända barn. Det som har framkommit i mitt resultat är att aktiviteten sångsamling med sångpåse är den typ av samling som är den vanligaste och mest användbara aktiviteten, som fångar barnens intresse och ger barngruppen en vi-känsla.  Nyckelord / Music is more than just a song, it stimulates learning. The aim of this study has been to examine how music affects children of another origin’s language learning abilities. The study is built upon semi structured interviews where the questions have been written in advance but with the possibility to use different follow-up questions. The interviews were conducted by two pedagogues at a preschool for children of another origin. The study is based in a sociocultured perspective where language and learning are part of the community that is made up of children socializing with their peers as well as with the pedagogues. The respondents were all in agreement that music had a significant impact in language learning for children of another origin. What has appeared in my result is that the activity singtime with the bag of songs is the type of activity that is used the most and that is most common. Due to the fact that it catches the children’s interest and creates a feeling of We within the group.
