BRÁZDA, Jan: Waste management in city Tišnov [Diploma thesis]. Mendel university in Brno. Faculty of regional development and international studies. Supervisor: prof. Ing. Ilja Vyskot, CSc. Degree of qualification: Engineer, regional development. Brno: FRRMS, 2014. 82 s. This diploma thesis is focused on waste management in city Tišnov and consists of 3 main parts. The first part is focused on explanation of the basic terms and analysis of the legislation, valid legal norms, theirs historical development and description of the waste management plan in CR and JMK. The second part is characterizing and describing the area of research and is specifically aimed on waste management in the town. Third part is focused on SWOT analysis, with which I am trying to point out the strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats in the field of waste management for the town. Part of my own work is also questionnaire survey, its interpretation and proposals for possible action.

This diploma thesis provides extensive research of municipal solid waste studies and methodologies from all over the world. Firstly, the studies are described in general and then divided into several groups depending on the principle of their working practices, including their advantages and disadvantages. Secondly, the studies are divided by geographic areas. The results of the individual studies are presented and compared. Based on the findings in the thesis, appropriate methodology for municipal solid waste analysis in the Czech Republic is proposed.

The main purpose of the submitted diploma thesis is detailed research of studies and methodologies that deal with the analysis of the municipal waste composition, with focus on residual solid waste and transfer of acquired knowledge into practise. The research is focused on key parameters and procedures of studies and methodologies that took place in the Czech Republic, and also abroad. The identified information and procedures are properly summarized and evaluated. The theoretical findings were applied in the analysis of the municipal solid waste composition in a field work. The thesis is also focused on the practical feasibility of MSW analysis and related tasks. The data obtained during field work analysis of MSW are evaluated at the end of the thesis.

Projektet beskriver ett tillvägagångssätt för att alstra energi genom solceller och piezoelektronik. Ett kretskortsbaserat system designades som utnyttjade superkondensatorer som lagringsenhet. Planen var att integrera systemet i en sko. Genom denna teknik kan man då substituera eller minimera batteriladdningen för smarta enheter eller mindre anordningar. Det önskvärda resultatet med projektet var att se om det gick att koppla detta system till en mikrokontroller som kunde drivas på låg spänning. Rapporten fick ett positivt resultat med en konstant utspänning på 1.8 volt som kunde driva en mikrokontroller. Dock tog det lång tid för superkondensatorerna att laddas upp på grund av den impedans som fanns i systemet. Aktiviteter som utnyttjar detta system kommer att påverka uppladdningens resultat. Detta gör kretsen optimal för aktiviteter som involverar rörelse och sol, såsom hiking. / The past couple of decades gave rise to smartphones, smart watches, and smart homes. Now researchers are looking for ways to make smart clothing. One use case of smart clothing is smart shoes which can give some very useful sensed information especially in the sports industry and healthcare. Such sensed data include temperature, distance and calories, fall detection and many more. This application scenario can be designed to be battery free if we make use of the human motion and solar power. Many research papers exist which present how to exploit swing and shock excitations from the shoes to harvest energy. In this project this energy combined with solar energy will be used to power a low driven MCU. I design a pcb which include solar panels and piezoelectric modules to store the energy in supercapacitors. The goal is to integrate this pcb in a shoe, meaning that it has to have a small size and low power. The results of the project showed that a constant voltage at 1.8 volt could be achieved however recharge time is a factor to take into consideration. The system showed positive results for activities including movements and sun such as hiking.

Does the shoe type matter when prescribing custom-made foot orthoses? A comparison of peak plantar pressure in healthy subjects with custom-made foot orthoses in different shoe types.

Purpose: A common prescription in Prosthetic and orthotic clinics in Sweden is custom-made foot orthoses (CmFO). These must be placed in shoes. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the shoe type will have an impact on the effectiveness of CmFO regarding plantar pressure (PP).  Method: PP data was collected during gait from two healthy participants while wearing two pairs of different shoe types, a stable walking shoe and a flexible canvas shoe, with CmFO and original shoe insoles (OSI) respectively. The in-shoe F-scan system was used for data collection. Results: Going from canvas shoe to walking shoe showed reduced peak PP with around 40% in the forefoot and 27-50% in the heel. The walking shoe increased midfoot pressure >90% for both participants compared to the canvas shoe. The use of CmFO reduced the peak PP in the heel by 35-41% in the walking shoe and 9-44% in the canvas shoe.  Conclusion: The CmFO reduced peak PP in the heel and spread the pressure to the midfoot in both types of shoes but had bigger impact in the walking shoe. The walking shoe with OSI generated lower peak PP under the forefoot and heel than the canvas shoe with CmFO. / Syfte: En vanlig förskrivning på ortopedtekniska kliniker i Sverige är individuellt formgjutna fotortoser vilka måste placeras i skor. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka huruvida skotypen påverkar effekten av sådana fotortoser med hänsyn till plantartryck.  Metod: Data för plantartryck samlades in under gång från två friska deltagare bärandes två olika par av skor, en stabil Walking-sko och en flexibel canvassko, med individuellt formgjutna fotortoser respektive originalsulor genom att använda in-shoe  F-Scan systemet.  Resultat: Vid övergång från canvasskon till walking-skon minskade högsta plantartryck med ca 40% i framfot och 27-50% i hälen. Walking-skon ökade trycket i mellanfoten med över 90% för båda deltagarna jämfört med canvasskon. Användandet av individuellt formgjutna fotortoser sänkte högsta plantartryck i hälen med 35-41% i walkingskon och 9-44% i canvasskon.  Slutsats: De individuellt formgjutna fotortoserna sänkte högsta plantartryck i hälen och spred trycket mot mellanfoten i båda typerna av skor men hade en större påverkan i walking-skon. Walking-skon med originalsulor genererade lägre högsta plantartryck under framfoten och hälen än canvasskon med individuellt formgjutna fotortoser.
