Slänten är en öppen lärandemiljö vidSundbyberg Centrum.Inspirerad av Finlands utbildningssystem,strävar detta projekt efter en öppenlärandemiljö där fokuset ligger på empiriskastudier. För att täcka alla aspekter averfarenhets-baserad utbildning, erbjuderSlänten växthus, odlingsgård, bibliotek, öppenförskola, idrottshall, verkstäder, ateljéer, utstälnningsområde,studierum,dramalokaler, samt en föreläsningssal.För besökarna finns det café ochrestaurang, en offentlig park samtparkeringsplatser tillgängliga.Sundbyberg Centrum är områdets hjärta, därmånga kommunaltrafiklinjer möts.Tomten befinner sig i en sorts gränsland mellanett hektiskt centrum till söder, ett gröntvillaområde till väst, samt en storskaligtkommers och industriområde till öst fråntomten. Själva tomten är en suterräng,omgiven av Kronans flervåningshusfrån syd och öst.Byggnaden är tänkt att smidigt passa in ilandskapet med entrémöjligheter från alla treomgivande gatorna. De löpandetakterasserna ger byggnaden spännandeutomhusområden samt rum medvarierande takhöjder.Förslagets mål är att husera mångaverksamheter i en storskalig byggnadsom ändå inte tar upp betydligt rumi gatubilden. Från Prästgårdsgatan ärendast växthuset och biblioteketsentré synliga. Byggnaden i sin helhetkan betraktas från tomtens inre trakter.Takterasserna ger möjlighet till utomhuskommunikation, gårdar, uteserveringar samtodlingar. Grönområden är öppna mot gatornaoch därför fungerar även som offentliga ytor.Slänten ger Sundbyberg Centrum enaktivitetsankare som är lockande för en bredspekturm av besökare. / The Slope is an open space fro learning, locatedin the central area of Sundbyberg, Stockholm.Inspired by Finslands recent educational reforms,this project is an effort to create a space for learning,where the main emphasise is on experiencebased leraning, so called empirical studies. Toprovide visitors with a broad spectrum of activities,the Slope has a selection of facilities to offer:A botanical greenhouse garden, indoors andoutdoors plantations, library, daycare, sportshall,a selection of workshops, studios, exhibition area,classrooms, and a performance scene. Visitorsalso have access to a public park and parkingspaces outdoors, and a restaurant and caféindoors.Sundbyberg Center is the heart of the area, withmany lines of public transportation connectinghere. The lot is situated on the border of areaswith very different typology. To the south the busyCentrum, to the north-west a green and calmvilla district and larger scale industrial area to thenorth-east. The lot itself has a partially subterrainallocation, as it is situated in a slope betweenPrästgårds street to the north and Sture street tothe south. The difference between these streetlevels is 7 metres.The building is meant to smoothly adjust to thelandscape and provide entrances from all theneighbouring streets. The tilted greenroof structureprovide the building with this quality whilecreating an exciting public green area outdoorsand optimal spaces for performances and exhibitionsindoors.The aim of this proposal is to accomodatemany different kinds of activities in a spaciousbuilding that takes up a humble space in thestreetview and doesn’t dwarf the visitor. Thesouthern facade, that is only visible from insidethe lot, exposes all floors and the building in itsentirety while the northern facades, visible fromPrästgårds street however are only exposing thetop constructions of the building: the botanicalgreenhouse to the west, the library entrance tothe east and the luscious green garden that is theroof of the building benieth. Visitors may choseto enter the building through the library entranceof Prästgårds street, the main entrances of theexhibition area, at the southern end of the lot, orthrough the sloping roofgardens that lead to theentrances of the daycare and the rastaurant.These sloping roofgardens are full of possibilitiesboth for the activities accomodated in thebuilding and the public. They provide spacefor communication, green areas, plantations oroutdoor seatings for the restaurant. The Slopeprovides Sundbyberg Centrum with a culturalanchor, where locals of all ages and interests may meet.
