Abstract Spotify is currently the largest and fastest growing online music service. They started in 2006 and has since established itself in several European countries. Their financial revenue comes from advertising spots on the client and registered paid subscribers. Together with Spotify, we have come to a certain focus area where Spotify themselves feel that there is potential for improvement. This area of focus concerns the conversion from using Spotify's free "Open" to the payment options Unlimited and Premium. Objective: We will use an innovation process to achieve an innovation grant that will create more attraction to the payment services. An added value in the client that will meet customer needs and that the user is ready to pay for. This will eventually increase the purchase flow to payment service on Spotify. Method: The approach is based on a model of how to manage an innovation process (Bessant & Tidd, 2007). The first phase was to create the empirical work on the issue. Through a survey, we define user behavior, purchase tension and a general attitude to Spotify of the users who responded to the survey. The next phase was conducted idea generation and concept proposals at a value that was produced. The proposals were tested in a consumer test. The last phase was processed by two concept proposals for a final result that are presented for Spotify. Results: A value added add-in payment service that goes under the working title of Verve. Verve is an innovative contributions based on a social interactive networking among users where they can recommend and recommend music between each other. Key words: Innovation, Spotify, innovation process, information design, social interactivity / Sammanfattning Spotify är idag Sveriges största och snabbast växande online-musiktjänst. 2006 grundades organisationen och har sedan dess etablerat sig i flera europeiska länder. De finansiella intäkterna kommer ifrån annonseringsplatserna i klienten och registrerade betalkunder. Tillsammans med Spotify har vi kommit fram till ett gemensamt fokusområde där Spotify själva upplever att det finns potential till förbättringar. Detta fokusområde berör konverteringen från att använda Spotify ́s gratistjänst ”Open” till betaltjänst alternativen Unlimited och Premium. Syfte: Vi vill genom en innovationsprocess få fram ett innovationsbidrag som skapar mer attraktivitet till betaltjänsten. Ett mervärde i klienten som ska uppfylla kundbehov och som användaren skall känna sig vara redo att betala för och därmed på sikt öka köpflödet till betaltjänsten på Spotify. Metod: Tillvägagångssättet grundar sig på en modell kring hur man hanterar en innovationsprocess (Bessant & Tidd, 2007). Första fasen är att skapa sig empiri kring frågeställningen. Genom en enkätundersökning får vi fram användarbeteenden, köppotential samt en allmän inställning till Spotify hos användarna som besvarar enkäten. I nästa fas utförs en idégenereringen som skall leda till ett konceptförslag på ett mervärde till betaltjänsten på Spotify. Förslagen skall utprovas i ett användartest. I sista fasen bearbetas förslagen fram till ett slutgiltigt som presenteras för Spotify. Resultat: Ett mervärdestillägg under betaltjänsten som går under arbetsnamnet Verve. Verve är ett innovationsbidrag som är ett socialinteraktivt verktyg integrerat i betaltjänsten som bygger på nätverkande mellan användare med syfte att sprida, rekommendera och bli rekommenderad musik av andra användare. Streetscape Design: Perceptions of Good Design and Determinants of Social Interaction

Historically, streets have provided both a means of livelihood and social support for its inhabitants. The emergence of the car dramatically shifted planning practices from the pedestrian, to the efficient movement of automobiles, resulting in the fragmentation and dispersion of communities. Current academic streetscape design guidelines focus on creating an aesthetically pleasing and functional street; however, these guidelines alone do not appear to foster strong community ties and social networks. A review of the place making literature identified that a number of factors can play a significant role in a user’s ability to secure a strong sense of place, place attachment and sense of community. This exploratory research analyzed place making literature and employed qualitative methods with observations and interviews of users in three streetscapes located in Vancouver, British Columbia; W 41st Ave, Commercial Drive and Fraser St. The resulting feedback obtained from this multiple case study approach has provided the basis upon which a user driven streetscape design visualization was created. It was then compared to a visualization based upon current academic design guidelines. Through an examination of this research, it became apparent that the design of a streetscape does influence the social interaction of its users. It was also discovered that the academic driven urban design guidelines do not fully reflect the preferences and social needs of its users. This research has helped to close the knowledge gap between the design of the physical form of our streets and the user’s preferences. Additionally, it has illustrated the essential role that place making principles should play in the design process. Current theories and concepts of streetscape design have since been expanded and now have the potential of creating more socially sustainable, vibrant streets.
