Do seixo ao zoólito. A indústria lítica dos sambaquis do sul catarinense: aspectos formais, tecnológicos e funcionais. / \"To Pebble for \"Zoólito\". The Lithic Industry of Shellmounds from South of Santa Catarina: Formal, Technological and Functional Aspects.

Belem, Fabiana Rodrigues 13 April 2012 (has links)
The monumental sambaquis from the south coast of Santa Catarina have already a long tradition within the Brazilian archeology studies, being the target of systematic research for some decades now. However, several small sambaquis, composed of a single blackish layer, rich in shells and organic material have been mapped in recent years by members of the project Sambaquis e Paisagem (Sambaquis and Landscape). These small sambaquis, very often, do not follow the formative process modeled for the large shell mounds in the region (e.g. Jab II). However, these little ones keep a close relationship with the larger shell mounds due to the contemporary and spatial proximity that they present. Despite the variability presented by the shell mounds of the area, evidences of household structures were not found, nor other structures that could be linked with the daily activities of this groups. Thus, in presenting the case of the sambaqui Lagos dos Bichos II, a small and non-funerary mound, with a large amount of lithic artifacts along its surface and surroundings, and the focus of this work, we intend to contribute in the understanding of the moundbuilders\' technological organization and dynamics of regional occupation.

CHURCH BASED INTERVENTIONS WITH HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: A DENOMINATION STUDY

DeWit, Michael Dale 01 June 2017 (has links)
The focus for this research project was to explore the development of human trafficking mercy ministries within South Coast Presbytery. South Coast Presbytery consists of 21 churches belonging to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian denomination with member churches throughout the United States. The study was conducted following a constructivist paradigm with a PCA church belonging to South Coast Presbytery to determine the role of the church and the presbytery in addressing human trafficking through the development of mercy ministries. Interviews were conducted with 11 church members. Five major themes emerged from analysis of the interviews: 1) Effects of the existence of human trafficking on participants; 2) The role of the church/presbytery in addressing human trafficking; 3) Service provision to victims of human trafficking; 4) Partnerships with outside agencies; and 5) Ministry development in South Coast Presbytery. An action plan was developed based on the following subthemes: raising awareness, teaming up, the need for specialists, and the need for oversight. The action plan includes the following: the development of a presentation to raise awareness, plans to visit each church of South Coast Presbytery to promote a shared vision, and building a database of available church resources to link with needs identified by service providers in the community.

Alcalde, Javier I., Aguila, Carlos Del R., Fujita, Fernando F. 10 April 2018 (has links)
New Evidences from Chincha: Preliminary Notes about Wari Period ContextsThe "Programa de Investigaciones Arqueológicas Chincha" (PIACH), of the Instituto Andino de Estudios Arqueológicos (INDEA), has planned to investigate Wari occupations since 2001, both local and imperial. The site La Cantera (PV57-I38), identified in i985, was selected to begin. However, as research was initiated a fortuitous discovery took place at UPIS-San José, a new urban development in the district of El Carmen. Nearly complete ceramic vessels were recovered that belong to the Wari State style. These finds help fill a void the Wari Period of the Chincha Valley. At last, this void can be understood as resulting from specific historical and natural processes.

Paracas geoglyphs of the peruvian south coast: Cerro Lechuza and Cerro Pico / Geoglifos paracas de la costa sur: Cerro Lechuza y Cerro Pico

García Soto, Rubén 10 April 2018 (has links)
Traditionally, the manufacture of large found drawings on desert plains and hill slopes of the Peruvian south coast was at-tributed to the Nasca society. However, since the 1980s, it is known that this cultural manifestation is a tradition that wouldhave begun towards the 750 BC during the early part of the development of the Paracas culture. Paracas geoglyphs have beenreported from Pisco to the Rio Grande Basin of Nasca, particularly in the area of Palpa where the where they have identifiedmany of these geoglyphs. In this paper, we present groups of figures at Cerro Lechuza, Paracas, and Cerro Pico, Ica Valley, whichs how stylistic features of several phases of Paracas.

Comparative study of teachers in N.S.W. Department of Education support units (South Coast Region) and teachers in N.S.W. Department of Education special schools (South Coast Region) relating to the implementation of curriculum document for students with severe intellectual disability

Phipps, Kathy, n/a January 1993 (has links)
The following research project was a comparative study of teachers in Support Units and teachers in Special Schools. They were teachers currently involved with the implementation of the 1989 NSW Department of Education Mandatory Curriculum Change for the education of students with severe intellectual disability. The purpose of the research was to present a comparative study on teachers' responses, in both educational settings, examining their understanding of the curriculum change, the concerns of individuals and the levels of curriculum usage in relation to the factors affecting implementation. The application of the Concerns-Based Adoption Model of Change (Hall and Loucks, 1987), enabled the study to focus on the various forms of the innovation, including the innovation configuration, stages of concern, and the levels of use from the two given perspectives, teachers in Support Units and teachers in Special Schools, in relation to the major factors affecting implementation. The study findings highlighted that in both educational settings, change is accomplished by individuals and is a highly personal experience, demanding adequate support by facilitators of the change through appropriate actions, in order to assist effective and successful implementation of the change.
