In my diploma thesis I would like to focus on dance battles events and on the street dance life style as it's the topic of my diploma thesis. I have been very close of the street dance world, as a dancer and an observer, since I witnessed countless dance battles, concerts, camps, workshops and so on - which gave me the knowledge to express myself on this topic and gave my perspective in both ways: from up to the stage and audience. I was always very curios and wanted to share with, such as: how does the street dance events looks like, what's happening there, what kind people attending it, what is the motivation for dancers, djs, choreographers, producers etc…? Where those events are happening and how often is them happening? My curiosity crossed the Czech Republic border, I wanted to know more from outside of my country. I believe that having the knowledge of what's going on abroad gives you power of discuss and compare things with confidence and comfortability. Mainly my research methods were observing and interviewing, then field diaries, video documentation, collecting as much information as possible from people that lives in this world nonstop, which gave me so much knowledge from inside, how they behave, how they communicate, their attitude etc. This scenario always fascinated me and after attending to many events, battles, meetings and jam sessions (as a dancer and observer), I was able to collect different point of views from another dancers, choreographers and guests and compare it with my own thoughts regarding to it, using my countless notes and hours of recording interviews, those tools combined gave me so much information.

Title: Competency profile of a Street Dance coach Objectives: The aim of this work is to find the key competencies and needs for the profile of a Street dance coach. The competencies are discovered through questions given to dance students and trainers.The benefit of this work should be seen during the selection of the dance trainers. Methods: The research is made from quantitative methods and interviews. The interviews of the dance students and trainers were made through an electronic questionnaire. The respondents were addressed on the social media. The theoretical part of the thesis comes from the studied professional literature, internet sites and personal experience. Results: We found out which are the key competencies that a trainer should have. Based on the results of the research we choose the 12 most important competencies of a street dance trainer, which were valorised thanks to the weighted average and split by importance. Este trabalho tem como objetivo compreender o sentido atribuído, por jovens moradores da periferia de Porto Alegre, à prática da dança de rua como elemento componente da cultura Hip-Hop. Visando a compreender a prática da dança em um universo cultural específico, e privilegiando seus aspectos microssociais, o estudo tem como abordagem metodológica a investigação etnográfica, e como principais instrumentos de coleta de dados, a observação participante e a entrevista semiestruturada. A reflexão final é efetuada a partir de dois eixos de análise: a dança de rua como aprendizado e a dança de rua como lazer. A prática da dança, aliada aos princípios ideológicos colocados pelos elementos da cultura Hip-Hop e simbolizados pela atitude, possibilita aos jovens a construção de um projeto, que tem como objetivo a construção de uma vida digna para si e o resgate daqueles em situação de marginalidade. / This work aims to understand the meaning attributed, by young residents of the periphery of Porto Alegre, to the practice of street dance as a component element of the Hip-Hop. Aiming to understand the practice of dance in a specific cultural universe, and giving preference to its micro-social aspects, the study has as methodological approach the ethnographical investigation, and as main instruments of data gathering, the participative observation and the semi-structured interview. The final consideration is made from two main perspectives: street dance as learning and street dance as leisure. The practice of dance, along with the ideological principles of the Hip-Hop culture, symbolized by the attitude, makes possible to the youth the construction of a project that has as objective the building of a worthy life for oneself, and the redeeming of those who live marginally.

My dissertation is mainly targeted to all street dance lectors and teachers but is also for another people who are concerned about street dance education. Dissertation is writting about a street style history and is focused on creation of my own methodology proposal for an education of this style. Kids are really enjoying a lessons of street dance and the kind and level of this emjoyment is done by their age and level of performance.

The main goal of this present research is analyze how those individuals who dedicate themselves to teach Street Dance in the São Paulo State got their formal training to do so ; and also theirs ideas and considerations about the challenges and limitations of their academic training to become teachers of such subject. This work is structured as follows: first the author brings us concepts about Culture, Hip Hop Culture, its origins and how the subject Street Dance is perceived and understood. On a second moment the author reviews what kind of studies and training are mandatory for someone to become a professional dancer or a Physical Education teacher; how PE teachers approach the teachings of dance techniques and how they accomplished their know how to do so, through academic/ professional training or just experiencing and practicing without formal, conventional education. Ten Street Dance Teachers of São Paulo State were interviewed and through their input the following conclusions became clear: A) None of them have ever received formal academic training in dancing; few of them hold degrees in Physical Education and most of them work as teachers licensed or authorized by organizations such as CREF or DRT. B) They believe there is no such thing as a unique or definitive line of education to become a professional in this field. C) They could not reach a consensus about the term Street Dance . D) They do not believe that there is a specific method to teach this dancing style. They rather believe that each teacher brings his or her own experiences to the class, which explains why each set of Street Dance students show different features and characteristics. abstract: Don't Hold Your Breath is an evening-length performance created and performed by Sarah "Saza" Kent and EPIK Dance Company that consisted of street and concert dance combined with hip hop theatre, spoken text and live singing. What began as a one-woman show about the choreographer's life, turned in to an ensemble piece that included the stories of many people, including ten community members who were interviewed on their views of life and death after being affected by a diagnosis. The show follows Kat, a young woman tiptoeing the line between her party girl past and the thought of finally growing up and settling down. Typically confident and self-assured, she is now grappling with the idea of life and death. Kat finds herself in an MRI machine that could ultimately determine her fate. As the machine examines her body, she begins to examine her life, causing her to confront some of life's most existential questions. Has she spent her time wisely? Would she do anything differently if given a second chance? When it comes down to it, and all distractions are stripped away, what is truly important? Her thoughts take her to memories of her past and visions for her future as she faces the reality that life is finite and tomorrow is not promised. As there is a close relationship between Hip Hop Culture and urban dances, it was observed different factors such as how to behave in society and the world view from all of these dancers, there is no way to speak of urban dance, and not to mention the different elements that make this hybrid culture. The theoretical part is focused on defining the basic concepts of the issue, the development of street dance in the world and in the Czech Republic, the structure of street dance classes, methods and forms of work, the personality of a teacher and the use of online street dance classes. The practical part is based on a research survey through an interview with street dance teachers and their students. The aim of the research is to find out whether street dance teachers used online lessons during the coronavirus epidemic and, if so, which applications worked for them. The aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the results of research and summarize the possibilities of online teaching street dance for students. Part of the diploma thesis is "Methodology, how to teach street dance via Zoom application", which is verified in practice and supplemented by a final reflection.
