Lärares upplevelser av stress i yrket

Ottersten, Henrietta, Hallgren, Angelica January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the work environment for elementary school teachers, given their respective experiences from stress. The questions issued examined stress factors, stress management and the expectations teachers perceive to experience. The participants of the study were six female elementary school teachers in the ages between 36 and 53 years old. A qualitative analysis method was implemented, in order to perform the stated evaluation, where data was collected through semi-structured interviews at different schools located in the central to southern parts of Sweden. The emerged results indicated that the primary reasons for teachers experienced stress were unregular workload, unpredictable events and grading.  Furthermore, teachers proclaim their received high expectations, which in itself infer stress.   Communication and support were put forward by teachers as important factors in dealing with stress.  There is a great deal of research done regarding teachers working environment, although with contrarious results. This study has by answering the given problems contributed to a deepened knowledge base of which important factors cause stress in the profession of teaching, and how they ought to be managed.
