This thesis analyses student success and dropout (attrition, wastage, non-completion …) and their reflection in the Czech higher education policy. Strategic documents of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports declared student dropout to be a problem already in 2000 and 2005. However, only limited and vague measures were proposed, and even those have not been fully implemented while the dropout rates have continued to increase every year. The thesis applies the perspective of "problem delimitation" in the public policy process, discovering that many actors determining the policy formulation do not share the belief that dropout is a problem and that it should be dealt with by public policy means. It seems that no actor has been so far able to present the issue as a well-structured, and therefore solvable, problem. Besides, a lack of consensus on relevant underlying values and goals, a deficiency of suitable means aligned with other essential values - in particular the effort to increase the quality in higher education - is observed. Title: The Gymnastics objects analysis in preparation of physical education teachers with focus on Artistic gymnastics. Thesis objective This thesis was aimed to determine the content of Artistic gymnastics as a part of physical education teaching study programme. To achieve the primary objective two other sub-objectives were established. These were examined in two research phases: 1. the school documentation analysis in respect of: a) objectives, results and contents of Artistic gymnastics study plans b) distribution of individual Gymnastics objects (Artistic gymnastics in particular) and their frequency in a lesson plan 2. to learn and define requirements posed upon the personality of a high school physical education teacher. Methods The research continued in two phases. The first phase was to analyse the school documentation and explore the focus on contents of Artistic gymnastics study plans, its range and required results. To find the answer on relevance and necessity of particular competences of Artistic gymnastics graduates the repertory grid method was used in the second phase of research. This thesis focuses on the use of the mother tongue in foreign language teaching and learning. Recently there has been a notable shift towards promoting the use of the mother tongue. The theoretical part of the thesis maps the attitudes to the mother tongue in current literature as well as the suggested ways of its use in the classroom. The practical part attempts to analyse the students' attitudes towards the incorporation of Czech into English learning and teaching and their experience with its use from their secondary schools. To obtain the data, an online questionnaire was employed. The respondents are first- and second-year students of English and American studies who are expected to be able to analyse both the advantages and disadvantages of using Czech. The practical part focuses on the efficiency of Czech in comparison with English, ways of presenting grammar and vocabulary, the relation between the mother tongue use and the proficiency of students, and learning strategies of the respondents. Based on the analysis, suggestions regarding the mother tongue use are presented in the conclusion.

The thesis "Sibling Constellation Effects on Learning and Career Aspirations of Pupils" is aimed at the description of a relationship between birth order and personality development. It also deals with the general characteristics of sibling constellation and its historical development. It points out the importance of sibling constellation in human life and presents the personality description with regard to birth order in relation to parents, siblings, peers, education and occupation. The thesis also involves the research results of birth order effects on learning and career specialization of grammar school pupils. This main part is enriched with the information about the aspiration rate of secondary school and university students. The data were obtained through three similar questionnaires distributed on above-mentioned educational levels during February and March 2012.

This work presents a case study of Basic art school in Liberec and concentrates on specifics in teachers´ work in this type of school. The theoretical framework of this research was made on the basis of technical literature. The practical part comprises a description of the Basic art school with special attention to the educational program of this school. This part also gives characterization of specifics in teachers´ work from the view of students, teachers and a headmaster.

The topic of this thesis is study abroad. The theoretical part presents knowledge about the process of adaptation in a new country and its culture; then it deals with acculturative and coping strategies, culture shock and its determinants and also reverse culture shock, which takes place after arrival home form a foreign country. It also introduces the age group of participants on study abroad (21 {--} 26 years old) from the developmental psychology point of view. Then it describes the already known correlation relationships between personality characteristics and some aspects of long term stays abroad. Finally, it outlines a personality profile of the ideal person for a long term study abroad. The research part informs the reader about knowledge we have found out from 3 research questionnaires that were completed by students before, during and after the experience of study abroad, and also knowledge we have gained thanks to interviews with the students. The main research areas are the following: the personality profile, changes of chosen characteristics that have taken place due to the experience of the study abroad, motivation, expectations and their fulfillment, process of culture shock and reverse culture shock.

This work is focusing on questions about the agricultural tourism and in general about spending holidays in the country. It is a desk study and implicates the topic of tourist trade, leisure time and pedagogy of leisure time whereas it tries to expose everything to the main field of the work which are education aspects of the agricultural tourism. Furthemore, the work is focusing on concrete aspects, for instance on preparation and organization of supporting plans and housing standards of accomodation facilities which can be used within the framework of the agricultural tourism. The consituent is the chapter about types of guests who can take part in the agricultural tourism and about their special needs and expectations. One chapter of the work put brain to the anylysis of education plans of single fields of study which can prepare for the discussed activity.

The target of the thesis is to describe present higher education system in Slovakia and the way of breakdown of subsidies for public universities and higher schools with focus on comparison with the Czech Republic. First part is about historical development and present state of higher education in Slovakia. Second part is focusing on grants for carrying out accredited study programs and the last part is analysis of study field coefficient and coefficient of employability of graduates. According to used methods I found out that different ways how to evaluate performance of higher schools and universities leads to different results, though they are using the same characteristics.

The master thesis focuses on the study information systems used in Czech universities. The biggest part concerns the development of information system used in the University of Economics Prague. The goal of this thesis is to propose a way of a new development of this system, based on the analysis of other systems and to support it with the opinions of a representative sample of University of Economics students. The thesis itself is divided into 3 main parts. The first part shows the 4 most used study systems. Each system is analyzed from different viewpoints and its specifics are stressed. The analysis are made from interviews of the system developers and also web presentations of each subject. Each application solutions are compared with each other. The second part is devoted to the development of the information system of the University of Economics Prague. The author of this thesis expresses his opinion of the information system and proposes a recommendation concerning new functions and possibilities. The proposals are based on the experiences of other students of study information systems, or of the developer himself. All proposals are now in the third part introduced through the questionnaire to students of all other faculties of University of Economics Prague, where they themselves can express their opinions to proposed innovations or to the system in general. The results of the questionnaire are interpreted both in words and graphically.

The master dissertation Electronic books at VSE is focused on analysing the opportunities of e-books in the environment of VSE. The aim is to describe the current state of different study materials used at VSE and to explore different ways of improving them using e-book technology. The dissertation briefly describes various attributes of e-books with stress on the relevant attributes -- the possibility of inserting notes, bookmarks, multimedia and interactive content. Also the possibility of editing the content and sharing resulting changes with other students is a key attribute. The dissertation then moves on to describe the different kinds of study materials that are in use at VSE. The second half of the dissertation builds on previous analysis of the study materials and introduces a hypothetical optimal state, which could result from implementing e-book technology. This state is the answers the question of what is actually possible to achieve. The next chapter in this half is the technical analysis, which answers the question of how is it possible to achieve the suggested hypothetical state. The conclusion of this dissertation answers the questions whether the proposed solution is a viable candidate for implementation. The results of this dissertation could be used as a guideline for the project of implementation of e-book technology in the environment of VSE.
