Previous issue date: 2008-05-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The classical interpretation of Subliminal is that there is a powerful seduction and
manipulation widened by the presence of some components placed below perception, which
freely reach the subconscious level, to the point of affecting emotions. This happens because
such messages go into the recipient s mind, beneath the threshold of his conscious alertness,
without any filtering, so as to allow for the effects intended by the originating source to take
the individual to act regardless of his own will and with no evaluation. Through the concepts
of C. S. Peirce s semiotics, this study aims at understanding the functioning of the process of
apprehension of subliminal materials in perception, and intends to contribute to the update of
this concept by adding a semiotic direction and a treatment as a language study. Printed
advertisements in nationwide magazines are analyzed to view the evidence they carry of the
elements that are at stake in the articulation of visual and verbal elements, a play with signs
which escape to the sight and perceptual judgment of the recipient. The concept of subliminal
is discussed in the bases of the definitions of perception and perceptual judgment, with
emphasis to the fact that the subliminal works as an apprehension underneath the perceptual
judgment. The theoretical and methodological bases are enhanced by further definitions from
Peirce s sign theory, covering the concepts of first, other phenomenological categories, triad
sign structure, notion of consciousness, collateral experience, beyond the associations by

dogmática jurídica ainda busca respostas, quais sejam, a desterritorialização, a
desmaterialização e a despersonalização das relações. O desconhecimento e o ceticismo quanto
A boa-fé objetivamente
In the contemporary society, characterized by the complexity of legal relations, there is a
necessity for special protection of hyper-vulnerable consumers. One of the hypotheses of hypervulnerability
which claims such protection is the exposition to exhibitions of subliminal
advertising messages on the Internet. The conception of virtual matters has not been properly
assimilated by jurists. A number of obstacles have been created for which the legal doctrine is
still seeking for answers, which are, the dispossession, the dematerialization, and the
depersonalization of relationships. The ignorance and skepticism about the real power of the
influence of subliminal advertising on the consumer’s behavior served as a stimulus for the
construction of this study. Among the serious consequences that appear on the dissemination
of such unlawful conduct stand out the consumerism and the overindebtedness of families. The
consumer's freedom of choice is dwarfed when the advertisement does not respect the
transparency and loyalty expected of it. The good faith objectively considered and the rule that
which advocates the immediate and clear identification of the message are the pillars that
support the legal structure called Consumer Law. Thus, the disregard to such rules must
generate assignment of accountability of all actors involved: suppliers-advertisers, advertising
agencies, media companies and celebrities who lend their images to the ads. The collective
coping of this theme by the doctrine and jurisprudence as well as by legislators, constitutes the
solution to avoid and restrain this contumacious practice. It is emphasized that education, in a
broad sense, for the responsible consumption, is revealed as an antidote to face the fragility of
Internet users, victims of manipulation through the profusion of subliminal advertising.

Titulação do limiar convulsígeno e segurança cardiovascular / Titration seizure threshold and cardiovascular safetyBueno, Celso Ricardo 13 November 2009 (has links)
A maioria (70,3%) recebeu aplicação bilateral e (62,8%) eram mulheres. / Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is the most effective biological treatment for depression. Studies of the technical aspects are fundamental for understanding the mechanisms of ECT and to maximize efficiency and minimize their cognitive effects. There are many methods to determine the dose of electrical stimulation and there is no consensus on which is the best one. It is known that very high doses are effective, but at the expense of effects on memory. Although the method of limits (titration method) is generally accepted, being encouraged by the American Psychiatric Association, many practitioners have concerns regarding cardiac safety of this method. Due to repetitive subthreshold stimuli until the seizure is elicited, an increased risk of bradiarrhythmia and/or asystole is believed to be present. The objective of this study was to establish the profile of patients undergoing the method of titration of the threshold, checking their cardiovascular safety. A retrospective study was performed including 113 cases that receive their treatment in the year of 2007. The majority (70.3%%) received bilateral ECT, (62.8%) were women. The diagnosis of depression appeared more frequently (50.5%). The majority (57.5%) needed two stimuli; 12.4% needed only one; 28.3% needed three and 1.8% required four stimuli. The average initial heart rate was 79.6 bpm (SD = 17). The seizure threshold ranged from 16mC to 128mC (mean = 58.9, SD 25.4). The ratio seizure threshold was significantly lower with unilateral electrode placement (p <0.001) but not with sex or age. No association was found with concomitant medication. There was an increased incidence of bradycardia with subthreshold stimuli , but there was not a relationship between the first and second stimuli. There were no significant cardiac complications and no patient had asystole. In conclusion, the method of titration of the threshold seems to be a safe and more precise to determined electrical dose, since the factors usually used to predict the threshold (gender, age and medication use) were not related to the LCT The low incidence of cardiovascular complications adds up to its use as the method of choice.. A protective effect of atropine cannot be ruled out.

Previous issue date: 2011-02-09 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / Understanding the changes in attitudes towards others is a key factor to understand human behavior. Correlations between values subliminally presented observed in tasks of decision aim at investigating behavioral attitudes. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence exerted by the subliminal effect uptions cognition in decision tasks in a scenario of stock acquisition through the experimental approach. For this purpose, using the simulation of
investment, an experiment which considered four types of decision on whether to purchase the stocks (buy, may buy, may not buy, and not buy) was conducted. This study included 31 professionals in a Neuroscience laboratory, in which each target was preceded by a subliminal stimulus lasting 17 minutes, using a mask bearing words typical of Economics (positive /negative) randomly categorized. The proposal of the research was to analyze the positive or
negative effects on decisions. The experimental results were statistically analyzed using the techniques Chi-square and ANOVA. The analysis of the first hypothesis suggests that there was no influence of words on the decision, however, when examining the second hypothesis, the results suggest that when the subject does not know the company, his/her decision can indeed be influenced, showing that lack of knowledge permits influence of words; in the third
hypothesis when the choice is related to companies that appear in the BOVESPA index, suggesting companies that do not belong to this index, the subjects are influenced by the
words when making decisions about stock acquisition; in the fourth and latest hypothesis the results indicate no difference between men and women. In short, our findings suggest that
subliminal effects influence decisions when the subjects are not familiar with the companies, because the subjects were affected in our experiment. It is hoped that these research results may encourage further empirical studies on subliminal influence to enhance the development of behavioral research.

Previous issue date: 2007-11-28 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / It´s a fact , today, a constant worry about the understanding of publicity
world, given the undoubted importance of the efects that this world has on
us. In the context of such worry, the objective of this research is to identify the
suggestibility strategies used to create the advertising communication
directed to billboards. To do so, the influence level iconicity to follow these
strategies on the advertising messages and the associations that we are apt
to make through these signs or semi-signs that are presented by the power of
suggestibility.
This dissertation is presented into five chapters. The first, named The
City, there is a historical study of how the cities were born and their evolution,
pointing out the city of São Paulo and the Paulista avenue, which was chosen
to obtain the billboards for analysis and interpretation.
In chapter two, named TheBillboard, a historical profile will be outlined,
bringing the memory of the billboard evolution back in Brazil and mainly in the
city of São Paulo.
The third chapter: Advertising: the association of ideas, images and
words, concerns about the contextualizing of advertising besides looking for
illustrating the power of advertising on the consumer.
In the forth chapter: A brief looking over at the Pierce s theory, the
theoretical support will be presented, in a non exhaustive way, so that it is
possible to base the analysis of the billboard of the fifth and last chapter.
Last but not least, in chapter five: The suggestibility strategies used to
create the advertising communication, the semiotics analyses are found with
emphasis on the iconicity levels and on the details of making a billboard
No contexto dessa preocupação, o objetivo desta
