I believe the medical historiography, as well as other historical disciplines, has a long tradition within which occupies the contents of this dissertation, torture, trying to establish connections and explore the recesses sensitive and striking when considering that human life is untouchable. In this sense, the best way to do it is to explore the simple to the complex and does not intend at any time to adopt the posture of an expert, just an enthusiast trying to infect people with his passion (which is newer). The new field is the history of the present one question can be made to the historian what should be narrated? Who is the character? In this case, the character is an act, torture and all its truths and lies, with the aim to provide explanations for a time of emergency. The pages that follow is a critical - analytical a phenomenon that is cheapened by chains, prisons, and even the homes, like an epidemic that the world seems to make a point of not seeing or hearing, where a large majority prefers to say that know nothing or participants saw a game where the opponents in a sinister pact, prefer to forget a chapter that was interspersed with executioners and martyrs, a paradox between memory and forgetting. The objective of this work is much more ambitious. It is the study of torture and all its complexity, with the consequent diseases, which would benefit from the clarification of this month in an attempt to help us eliminate its sequels, which like it or not, remain. We will study the stages of human life in all seasons but especially in the present, when we analyze the changing socio-economic, political, cultural and religious, that profoundly affected society, who could not or did not suppose that a storm would fall under the their heads, due to a paradox only capital and labor. Hopefully, we historians will have the opportunity to have access the documents stamped with "secret", "Top Secret" "Confidential," "reserved", which could provide a general panel and the modus operandi of the information system. / Entre os valores inerentes à própria condição humana está a vida. É sobre o valor da vida que esta dissertação pretende discutir, procurando evidenciar todos aqueles envolvidos nas lutas do tempo da Ditadura Militar no Brasil. Acredito que a historiografia médica assim como as outras formas de historiografia tem uma longa tradição de estudos sobre a tortura. Neste trabalho, em especial, busca-se estabelecer conexões e explorar os recônditos mais sensíveis e impactantes da prática hedionda da tortura, sempre considerando que a vida humana é intocável. Nesse sentido, a melhor maneira de fazê-lo é explorar do mais simples ao mais complexo, não pretendendo, em nenhum momento, adotar a postura de um expert, apenas um apaixonado, tentando contagiar as pessoas com sua paixão. No campo novo que é a História do Tempo Presente, algumas questões podem ser colocadas ao historiador: o que deve ser narrado? Quem são os atores históricos? Que evento deve o historiador rememorar? No caso específico deste trabalho, procura-se narrar o contexto da repressão militar, os envolvidos em práticas de interrogatórios, tendo como evento a prática da tortura e todas as verdades e mentiras, usadas na busca de explicações para uma época de exceção. As páginas que se seguem são mais um estudo crítico - analítico de um fenômeno que se alastrou pelos cárceres e até pelos lares, como uma epidemia que o mundo parece fazer questão de não ver ou ouvir. Uma grande maioria prefere dizer que nada sabe ou nada viu, tal como participantes de um jogo em que os adversários, num pacto sinistro, preferem esquecer um tempo que foi entremeado de mártires e verdugos. Vivendo num paradoxo entre memória e esquecimento. O objetivo deste trabalho consiste no estudo da tortura e toda sua complexidade. A medicina e a história médica muito têm a ganhar com o esclarecimento das sequelas resultantes das enfermidades decorrentes desse passado. Oxalá, nós, historiadores, ainda tenhamos a oportunidade de manusear os documentos carimbados com o timbre de secretos , ultra-secretos , confidenciais ou reservados , fruto de um tempo, em que informação era matéria para poucos. Tal material ainda poderá proporcionar um painel geral e o modus operandi do sistema de informações e da ação dos mecanismos de repressão instaurados pela Ditadura Militar.
