This work is the result of an exploration into the relationship of form and pattern. Its inspiration began as an experiment where certain two dimensional graphical patterns were interpreted as three dimensional elements in a lattice-like assembly. The resulting compositions are built entirely of MDF, and each piece is made from multiple copies of one or two identically shaped parts that are joined with shallow grooves. Some of the pieces resemble Asian architectural lattices as well as the scientific models of molecules in crystals. Often, the flat components seem to undulate in space or twist into impossible shapes. Although the various compositions appear dissimilar, the differences are a result of only minor changes to the individual parts that comprise them. Therefore, the work is metaphorically analogous to other complex systems made from simple components such as the structure of matter, the organization of cells, or primordial life in general.

Los proyectos de construcción suelen tener relaciones adversarias entre colaboradores, bajos ratios de productividad, alto grado de ineficiencia y re trabajo, frecuentes disputas y poca innovación. Como resultado, se tienen proyectos que son muy costosos y que no cumplen con los plazos especificados. Este panorama puede ser visto desde enfoques diversos de solución, empezando por la mejora de la productividad, la tecnología, entre otros. Sin embargo, es necesario revisar las bases mismas de la relación entre las empresas que forman parte de un proyecto y, a partir de ello, presentar un nuevo modo de trabajo colaborativo: el IPD, un marco de trabajo integrador de resultados fascinantes.

Abstract Swanson silastic arthroplasty, introduced by Alfred Swanson in the late sixties, has long been the treatment of choice for metacarpophalangeal (MCP) arthroplasty in cases of rheumatoid arthritis. Silastic implant arthroplasty has a significant role in the reconstruction of eroded MCP joints, but the method does not recreate a normal MCP joint. The Sutter implant has been designed to improve the function of the MCP joint, and especially to reduce the extension deficit. There are numerous studies concerning the Swanson implant, but limited number of previous articles on the use of the Sutter implant. The aim of this thesis was to determine the outcome of MCP arthroplasty with the Sutter implant in patients with inflammatory joint disease. This thesis is based on two studies concerning Sutter implant arthroplasty in patients with advanced rheumatoid arthritis. One of these was a prospective study performed at Oulu University Hospital in which patients were randomised into Swanson and Sutter implant groups representing 49 hands and 174 implants, with a mean follow up time of 4.8 years, and the other was a prospective study performed at the Rheumatism Foundation Hospital in Heinola in which Sutter implant arthroplasty was carried out on 117 hands employing 350 implants, with a mean follow-up time of 5.3 years. The main results were that arthroplasty yields similar results with both of these implants with respect to clinical parameters such as range of motion, ulnar deviation, grip strength and pain. Furthermore, the revision rate in our Sutter follow-up study was high, and survival, with revision surgery as the end point, was poor. We created a new radiographic grading system for bone resorption, i.e. osteolysis, in MCP arthroplasty and found this to be more severe after Sutter than Swanson implant arthroplasty, for some unknown reason. Moreover, we found that osteolysis was symptom-free but related to implant fractures. As a conclusion silicone implant arthroplasty should be used only with rheumatoid patients with advanced destruction. High implant fracture rates and high amounts of osteolytic changes in radiographs are not favourable for the use of the Sutter implant. If continuous development of new prostheses achieves implant with as good clinical outcome and reasonable costs as Swanson implant, the use of the silicone implants will be questionable.

The following study is an attempt to discover some of the possible values that may have come to certain groups as a result of a short guidance course given to ninth grade Junior High students. Many studies will need to be made in this field if the real values are to be determined. After all, there are so many guidance factors that enter into the life of the average Junior High student, it is difficult to say with assurance, "this is the direct influence of a particular course." We can only hope that the more subtle and often the more lasting values have been impressed upon the youth today whether we can measure them or not. This kind of study must of necessity deal with the more obvious results of "exposure" that can be measured objectively. "Helping young people to develop ability for efficient self-guidance" is the writer's definition of the aim of guidance in the education program today. Throughout all the activities in connection with this study, this aim has been the key note.

This essay is mainly about the Church of the Goths and about the Russian Orthodox Church, and their conflict. The essay will be focusing about important persons in these two churches. This essay will be tracing back the roots of the Church of the Goths, since it is a church, that is unknown by most people in this world. My research will be making a distinction of the differences between the Church of the Goths and the Russian Orthodox Church. This essay will also be discussing the heritage of the Gothic people and the theories of the Goths.The methods in the essay, is academic sources, information from the Church of the Goths and from the Russian Orthodox Church. The results shows how the information was found, and now it is published for the first time about the Church of the Goths. This means the Church of the Goths has a stronger ground than first expected. The methods were comparing what the different sources says, and if it was possible to connect the Church of the Goths to the Metropolitanate of Gothia, and so on.
