Fishpond Svět is one of the most prominent and attractive water bodies of Třeboň region. It is located close to Třeboň town, is is used for fish production and joined economic activities, as well as for recreation and sporting. To harmonize all the functions is the goal of the Rybářství Třeboň Co., owner of the fishpond, and local governement of Třeboň town. For revitalization of the fishpond, economic activities are harmonized in order to improve the water quality. The goal is provided via decreasing fish number, fertilizers and food, which resulted in decreasing numbers of cyanobacteria and algae in phytoplankton, especially during warm parts of years, when the troubles, for recretaion, are most. This measures are monitored by Inst. Botany Acad. Sci. via regular sampling and analysing NO2-, NO3-, tN, PO43-, tP, Cl- a NH4+ concentrations as well as temperature, Secchi desk depth and chlorophyll_a. I was participating in sampling and evaluation in period 2008-2010. Results of the monitoring are regularly presented in local press and internet home page of town Třeboň which is also covering the expenses of the project.

This diploma thesis is dealing with the topic of motivation of Czech volunteers focused on the development of Third World countries. The main aim of this thesis is to answer two research questions: What are the motivating factors of volunteers for joining a volunteer program in these countries and what motivates volunteers to choose concrete country to volunteer into? Theoretical part of this paper works with various theoretical concepts of motivation which are further described and analyzed. Functional approach to motivation of volunteers is the main concept used to analyze the factors that motivate volunteers the most to participate in volunteering activities focused on development in Third World countries and also factors that work as primary motivation when selecting a specific country. To identify these factors online survey was conducted. Results of the survey were elaborated within the practical part of the thesis. For the assessment of acquired data collected via online survey were concretely used a Volunteer Functions Inventory developed by Clary and Snyder. Given the fact that the thesis is based on quantitative research, it is trying to catch variety of phenomenon connected with motivation of Czech volunteers who already have previous experience with volunteering activities in Third World countries as well as those who are interested in engaging in similar projects in the future. Evaluated data are further used for formulation of specific recommendations for future practice in this area.

Youth in photographs in Mladý svět magazine (1959-1989) Jana Teplá Abstract: The aim of this study is to analyze the way youth was visually represented in the photographs in Mladý svět magazine and to find out whether and how this representation has changed during the period from 1959 to 1989 depending on the changes of discourse practices and socio-cultural practices. The study also aims to uncover how the discourse of news photographs has mingled with the discourse on youth in socialist Czechoslovakia. The specific objective of this research is to analyze the photographs of Czechoslovak youth on the front pages of the magazine with focus on the news values and the ideological messages they mediate. For the analysis of photographs were used mixed methods. Quantitative content analysis was applied to determine the news values, social semiotic analysis was applied to identify the ideological messages and oral history method was used for the extension of the contextual framework. The research part is divided into three periods of time with respect to changes in the wider socio-cultural context: the 1960s (January 1959 to December 1967), the period of the Prague Spring and shortly after the occupation by the Warsaw Pact troops (January 1968 to March 1969), and the period of "normalization" (April 1969 to...

The thesis deals with the question how to understand the concept of KOSMOS in the Gospel of John. The term KOSMOS can be translated into the Czech language as {\clq}qthe world``. The thesis engages in all verses in the Gospel of John in which KOSMOS is mentioned. Of course, it examines its context which is needed to understand this term. The aim of the thesis is to determine in which meaning the evangelist uses the term KOSMOS.

The theory of the fictional worlds is an interesting source not only for theoretical thinking about literature, but for concrete interpretation, too. I applied it as a method for an analysis of the novel space. In the chosen works I paid attention to the topoanalysis with the goal to know, how much space participates on the creation of the meaning of the text. I was interested most of all in such texts, which were to consider working with the space - the task was thento realize in which way and how much. The results showed, that some categories like road, boundary, passage or home can work as universal points, which can be used for the interpretation, but with the note, that it isn't advisable only to work with too many categories, which could make in the result the interpretation even poorer than before.

This thesis focuses on virtual world Second Life and its creator company Linden Lab. The theoretical part introduces elements of web, social networks and virtual worlds in general. The practical part of the thesis presents Second Life in detail, describes the possibilities for individuals and real-life institutions, together with the present achievements in individual fields. The company Linden Lab is presented in a separate chapter and its present income is estimated and then predicted from statistics of Second Life. The final chapter summarizes the potential barriers to further growth.

The submitted thesis introduces the so-called phenomenon of vampirism in popular literature of last two hundred years. With the help of more or less known pieces of vampire prose, theoretical and historical works the thesis presents the beginning, the development and transformations of a vampire character. The thesis also contains parts about relations between vampire and non-vampire mortal characters, who belong in particular fictional worlds.
