Sapnų užrašai / Inscriptions of Dreams

Lapinskaitė, Sandra 02 July 2012 (has links)
Kuriant darbų kolekciją stengtasi perteikti žmogaus santykį su savimi pačiu sapno erdvėje. Pasirinkta oforto technika, kuri suteikė galimybę sukurti siurrealistinius vaizdinius, remiantis melo ir tiesos, realygės ir už jos ribų esančiomis dviprasmybėmis. Už formų bei kompozicijos sprendimų slypi kiekvieno akimis regėtas pasaulis. Tai matyti šioje kolekcijoje ,,Sapnų užrašai“. Už įvairių taško, linijos ir dėmės kuriamų formų ir kompozicinių sprendimų slypi sapno vaizdinių perteikimas. Nors nemažos dalies naudotų simbolių prasmė lieka paslaptimi, tačiau žiūrovui suteikti minties laisvę stebint kūrynį yra viena iš galimybių meną pažinti savaip. / When creating work collection it was attempted to convey the relation with oneself in a space of a dream. Etching technique was chosen which gave the opportunity to create surreal images based on lie and truth, reality and ambiguity beyond its limit’s. Beyond shapes and composition’s solutions hides a world unseen by anyone’s eye. It all can be seen in this collection named “Inscriptions of Dreams”. Beyond various fleck’s, line’s and spot’s created forms and composition solutions’ hides convey of dream images. Even know the meaning of some part of used symbols is still a mystery but giving the freedom of thought to a viewer watching at a creation is one out of many ways to understand art in your way.

One Wall Many Voices: Framing the U.S.A.-Mexico Border Fence in Editorial Cartoons from the two countries / One Wall Many Voices: Framing the U.S.A.-Mexico Border Fence in Editorial Cartoons from the two countries

Liliana, Arrieta Rodriguez Unknown Date (has links)
無 / Walls provide not only physical but also ideological boundaries between neighbors. They can be seen as a symbol of protection or segregation. Using as stimulus the security fence between Mexico and the United States, this study aims to identify the main frames in American and Mexican political cartoons to decode the different messages and symbolism towards the border wall through which one can understand the U.S.-Mexico border issue as seen in the newspapers from the two countries. Using a qualitative analysis, the thesis studies 34 American and 69 Mexican cartoons from dailies that are representative of the press in the two countries. The cartoons evidence the use of six frames and symbolism: Death of migrants and the renegotiation of NAFTA were exclusively used by the Mexican papers. The freedom issue and the divisive nature of the wall balanced in both countries’ cartoons and the main preoccupations of the United States cartoons concerned the country’s double standard of hiring illegal migrant laborers while at the same rejecting an immigration agreement with Mexico. This study’s original contribution serves as a small step in the long road of empirical database expansion in framing political cartoons and the symbolism behind the portrayal of barriers.

Signs and symbols represented in Germanic, particularly Scandinavian, iconography between the Migration Period and the end of the Viking Age.

Hupfauf, Peter Rudolf Martin January 2003 (has links)
This research focuses on the analysis of pictorial images from objects of Germanic/early Scandinavian cultures in order to discriminate elements which are only applied for decorative reasons from those which also express symbolic values. At the outset I introduced an interpretation of the terms signs and symbols in order to inform the reader to which extent these terms were applied. It appeared that techniques, such as the geographical and chronological classification, traditionally used by archaeologists and historians to analyse objects/artefacts, were not always sufficient enough to gain all information which images may offer. Sometimes it seems to be difficult to determine if certain images shown on objects from early mediaeval, central and northern European origin, were created as a space-filling decoration only or if they held additional, probably symbolic, information as well. I have investigated aspects from visual perception, as applied within the domains of psychology, visual art and design. The methods, as they are introduced in this thesis, can be used as a identification scheme, applied on objects of great diversity. I have applied them on guldgubber (little embossed gold foils), bracteates and Gotland picture-stones. Objects of great historical and geographic difference, as well as physical diversity, such as size and material were chosen purposely to create an overview of the symbolic expressions in Germanic/early Scandinavian artefacts and to test the extent of the identification method derived from the domain of visual perception. A detailed analysis of sixty four guldgubber, found in Lundeborg, near Gudme, on the island of Fyn (Denmark), is placed in an appendix. An analysis of these objects appeared to be particularly interesting because it is not known what the purpose of guldgubber were to the present day.

Κουζαπάς, Ανδρέας 13 September 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to create a library of electrical symbols, which will be designed by the AutoCAD software, to fill in the gap that the normal version has. The normal version does not include the electrical symbols that must be used in Greece. The library contains symbols of weak currents and automations to be currently used in electrical drawings by all people who are related to that subject. The standard of the electrical symbols used in this thesis is based on the standards of ΕΛΟΤ ΕΝ 60617. These electrical symbols that are based on standards must always follow some basic design rules. The standard version of AutoCAD has no electrical symbol libraries, so someone who needs these symbols of EN 60617, then he must necessarily buy them online or by specific WebPages. The first chapter of this thesis deals with the standardization and standards. Some standardizations and the Electro‐technical Commission, relating to Greece, are also mentioned. Furthermore, there is a reference to the electrical symbols to be used nowadays. The second chapter deals with description of the design program called AutoCAD. There is a description of the functions of AutoCAD and how to use the tools of it, so that anyone who is familiar to those can be able to design electrical symbols that are used to create the library and the electrical plan. The third chapter is about an accurate description of the design of electrical symbols namely the transfer of the electric symbol from the paper based on the EN 60 617 to the computer. It is possible better design according to the requirements of the standard. The fourth chapter refers to how to customize the menu of AutoCAD to the needs of this thesis. Additionally, it refers on how to create the code of such a library with electric symbols. The fifth chapter deals with the internal low voltage electrical installations and automation. It refers to what’s involved in electrical installation and that is presented by photos. Finally, the sixth chapter deals with the formal application of the library of electrical symbols which have been built in this thesis. These symbols will be implemented in housing after the electrical plan of the house is created.
