Syftet med den här studien är att förstå det tävlingsklimat som upplevs av föräldrar inom barnfotbollen i sydvästra Skåne i förhållande till Svenska Fotbollförbundets intentioner med de tävlingsstrukturella förändringar de genomfört. Svenska Fotbollförbundet tog inför säsongen 2017 bort serietabeller för barn upp till och med 12 år i syfte att göra barnfotbollen mer anpassad efter barnen. Beslutet motiverades med att det skulle motverka toppning samt stress och oro. Vidare skulle det leda till att fokus förflyttades från resultat till prestation. Efter beslutet följde en offentlig debatt där de som var emot tyckte att det fattade beslutet om reducerat tävlingsmoment var fel väg att gå medan beslutsfattarna hänvisade till forskning om barns idrottande. Härmed undersöks fenomenet och dess effekter empiriskt. Resultatet grundas på semistrukturerade intervjuer med sju föräldrar från fyra olika fotbollsföreningar i sydvästra Skåne. För att nå djupare förståelse för hur föräldrarna uppfattar den tabellfria barnfotbollen analyserades resultatet med en kunskapssociologisk begreppsapparat. Detta teoretiska perspektiv skapar möjligheten att förklara hur barnfotbollen konstrueras socialt av Svenska Fotbollförbundet på makronivå i kombination med föräldrar, ledare och spelare på mikronivå. Resultaten berättar att Svenska Fotbollförbundets beslut att ta bort serietabellerna för barnfotbollen inte innebär att barn inte längre tävlar, tävlingslogiken i den enskilda matchen är fortsatt dominerande. Vad det däremot kan ha bidragit till är att en uppfattning bland föräldrar och tränare om att resultatet inte är det viktigaste i barnfotboll etablerats. Föräldrarna beskriver vidare matchklimatet kring barnfotbollen som bra, detta med nämnda uppfattning om resultatets vikt och ett barnrättsperspektiv som utgångspunkter. / The purpose of this study is to understand how parents perceive the climate in competitive football for children in southwestern Skåne, Sweden, in relation to the changes in the competitive structure the Swedish football association have implemented. In front of the season of 2017 the league tables for children up to twelve years were removed by The Swedish football association. The aim was to make the football for children more customized to the children. The decision was followed by a public debate with many opinions. In this study the phenomenon is investigated empirically. The results are based on interviews with seven parents from four different football clubs in southwestern Skåne. To understand the parents’ perceptions of football for children without league tables on a deeper level, the results were analysed with a theoretical framework from the sociology of knowledge. The results revealed that the decision to take the league tables out of the children’s football does not mean that the children do not compete anymore. What it could have contributed to is a perception among parents and coaches that the results in the children’s games not is the most important thing.
