No. of bitstreams: 1 Wellington Luiz Santos.pdf: 1870493 bytes, checksum: d356fb4e1f32ece8f0b209966fb240a7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-10-08 / The dissertation analyzes the technological education in its current configuration, investigating the perception of students of a degree of security technology at work, for their insertion in the professional field; investigating the hypothesis that these agents can sense lags in the real social process, which are expressed in the inadequacy between: the course structure of security technology at work, the judicial-legal sphere and the structure of the labor market. The research adopts an exploratory qualitative approach, based on the case study method to collect data. To discuss the issue of the professional formation and technological education in Brazil, we use bibliographic research in order to unveil the type teaching evolution in the contextual way in its relation to economic phenomena, social and political. To verify the research hypothesis, we investigated students and teachers of a safety course at work in an educational institution, through questionnaires and interviews; and we conducted a documentary research in related legislation on the issues of professional regulations in the specific field of the safety area at work. The results confirmed the research hypothesis, establishing serious modifications in the purpose and objectives of technological training, especially in its social effects. The documentary research articulated to the subjects’ answers, indicated the gap of the politics between the education area and the politics of labor and employment. Nevertheless, in the teachers’s discurses evidences were found to support hypothesis of the issue dealt with here, extend to other courses. The results show that it are necessary, further studies on this issue and to restablish a research agenda aimed at agents and process involved in this context, for the purpose of promoting discussions and identify actions and procedures to guide, correct any distortions and reduce the possibility of the repetition of events related to the problem under discussion.

Virtual Reality som komplement i röntgensjuksköterskeutbildningen : En litteraturöversikt / Virtual Reality as a complement in radiography education : A literature review

Stedt, Richard, Waser, Brian January 2021 (has links)
Introduction: Teaching radiography students to be able to take good quality x-ray images has always been a problem since they have been referred to phantoms or roleplay given the radiation. With the development of VR, the question has been raised if that could serve as a complement. Aim: The purpose of this study was to describe if VR could be used during radiography education. Method: The study was conducted as a literature review where one qualitative and nine quantitative scientific articles were analysed after searching 3 databases. Result: Most findings point to that VR might be a good compliment to regular radiography education since the students exhibit improved patient positioning and enhanced self-confidence while taking x-ray images. The learning curve with VR was however deemed as somewhat time consuming and more research seems necessary. The result also shows that the provider of the education must adapt and develop the way they teach. Conclusion: Many students feel insecure about x-ray imaging upon starting at their first place of work. If the use of VR in radiography education might raise the level of self-confidence as well as potentially increase the knowledge of positioning it might be considered beneficial.

This study aimed to understand the research question about how they are built in the formative process of the students the conceptions of man, nature and work, which imply perspectives of Environmental Education and Professional Education in Technician in Environment and Technologist in Environmental Management courses in the PelotasVisconde da Graça campus of the Instituto Federal Sul-rio-grandense. This study was guided by qualitative research with critical theorists of Environmental Education and Professional Education. This is a qualitative perspective of research and turn into a case study. The hypothesis was that these courses are forming professionals with conceptions that man, through social relations, is the nature of isolated form of himself. Twelve students participated in the Technician in Environment and eleven students Technologist in Environmental Management. In data collection, interviews and documents were used. The pedagogical projects of the courses, official documents of the Ministry of Education to present the guidelines for these courses were analyzed. The interviews were subjected to Content Analysis. The analysis and discussion of the data emerged three general categories as follows, man, nature and work for two courses and their units of analysis. For both courses emerged units: man produces impacts on nature, relations employment, work and nature; interdisciplinary perspective and also the unit course of the training focus to environmental educator in the Technician in Environment. The results show understanding in the Technician in Environmental a division between man and nature in which human work is a process of exploration of nature by man causing impacts, understanding of a related formation to market interests and understandings that the formation would be focused on preparation of environmental educators. These conceptions of man, nature and work imply perspectives of environmental education that would allow awareness to reduce environmental impacts and Professional Education directed to the needs of capitalism. In the course of Environmental Management Technologist there are understandings of division between man and nature, understanding that the environmental manager acts reducing environmental impacts relating them to the profitability of companies, labor and employment comprehensions focused on the market according to their demands and understanding of a company is using practices that would be environmentally friendly as marketing, that is, an understanding of environmental marketing as a strategy for the maintenance of capitalist logic. Perspectives for Environmental Education analysis were that allow awareness to reduce the environmental impacts and Professional Education to qualify for a "labor market" according to the production process. This work contributes to the direction of training workers to develop the decision-making capacity democratically at work and in society with a view to overcome the demands of the market for the basic needs of man.

Optimalizace sourcingu v konkrétní frimě / Sourcing optimization in Thermo Fisher Scientific company

Spejchal, Luděk January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a detailed view of a process and way of managing all the sourcing activities in the company Thermo Fischer Scientific. The focus (of my work) is a czech site of mentioned company situated in Mukařov, which, apart from production itself, is engaged also in sourcing for its own needs (where in most cases it has a decision power in its own hands) as well as for the whole company in the global measure (where it operates just as an intermediate searching for possible business partners, without any powers of decision). The main contribution of my work lies in the comparison of both of these variations and detailed investigation and description of all the activities that could help to optimize the global sourcing. I found out that entire optimizations are based on communication improvements among all the sourcing managers and technologists within the global corporation. On the basis of this fact I have projected models of documents the sourcing managers should work with, suppliers database and an information server. The result of my work is a process scheme which should contribute to the outsourced projects optimization.

Career aspirations of female engineering students at an FET institution

Foster, Vuyiswa Xoliswa Nontuthuzelo 30 November 2005 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to describe factors that influence black females to choose engineering as a career. It transpired from the literature study that enabling environment, gender of role models, self-efficacy and socialization are important factors in terms of causing and attracting females into the fields of science and engineering study. From the empirical study it came out clearly that family members, female role members, and confidence in mathematics and science were factors that caused the females in engineering group to choose it as a career. Findings also revealed that gender stereotypes did not deter them from choosing engineering and that they were content with their career choice. For the above factors to be addressed incentives exclusive to females should be launched by government so as to attract more females to the fields of science and engineering. Schools also need to pursue programmes that expose learners to these fields. / Educational Studies / M. Ed.

As assessment of the recruitment, selection and retention of technical staff in the Limpopo Department of Agriculture

Letshokgohla, Moloko Phineas 06 1900 (has links)
This research examined the problem of poor retention of employees with scarce skills in the Limpopo Department of Agriculture. Employees with scarce skills were selected to participate in the research which focused on recruitment, selection and retention. Recruitment, selection and retention of line employees with valued skills are a major crises facing many institutions. The problem of poor retention and turnover of line employees with scarce skills has far reaching consequences in that dissatisfaction with working conditions causes additional turnover. To some extent, the Department can control the turnover rate of its employees with scarce skills. The research assessed recruitment, selection and retention of line employees with scarce skills in the Limpopo Department of Agriculture. The research concentrated on the reasons for poor retention of line employees with scarce skills, the extent of turnover of employees with scarce skills, what process do the Limpopo Department of Agriculture follow in filling vacant post and what interventions and measures do the Department undertakes to ensure compliance to the recruitment policy. A questionnaire was used to collect data from managers and line employees with scarce skills. A hundred (100) questionnaires were distributed and 67 were returned. The findings revealed that Limpopo Department of Agriculture can do more in retaining its valued line employees (those with scarce skills). The challenge of scarce skills in the Department is compounded by the high demand of for instance engineers, state veterinarians and researchers in South Africa. There is a war on scarce skills in South Africa, Generation Y needs resources, better working conditions and a better salary to be retained. The research findings were evaluated and possible strategies for improving recruitment, selection and retention of line employees with scarce skills are recommended. The Department should design a career progression path policy. This would assist in retaining scarce skills in the public sector. / Public Administration and Management / M.A. (Public Administration)

Assessing the impact of work integrated learning and its practices on the education of engineering technicians and technologists in relation to the Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework (HEQSF) document in South Africa

Samadi, Fereshteh Rouhani 09 1900 (has links)
Work integrated learning (WIL) for the training of engineering technicians and technologists combines the theoretical learning of the fundamentals with their practical application in a real-world situation and environment. The activities in WIL are intended to provide students with specific learning outcomes in each engineering field of study, as well as with the general skills that are necessary for engineers in any field. The WIL learning outcomes are very specific and provide the student with the opportunity to practise and apply the fundamentals in an actual workplace. WIL includes various modalities such as problem-based learning, project-based learning and workplace learning. In this thesis, work integrated learning is referred to specifically as a period of work placement for engineering students. The other modalities of learning are usually included in all engineering qualifications. Thirty percent of the curriculum for the National Diploma engineering qualification in South Africa consists of work integrated learning, which translates into approximately 120 credits. WIL provides a valuable context for learning. However, there has been debate about the offering, placement, quality and supervision of it. This thesis investigates the various factors that may affect the offering of this component of learning in addition to ascertaining the importance of WIL in the training of technicians and technologists. This research comprises a survey conducted among engineering students as well as interviews with lecturers and supervisors directly involved in the implementation of the WIL component. The study investigates the format of WIL and its duration, the presence or absence of supervisors, mentors, a syllabus and clear guidance within the context of the Higher Education Qualification Frameworks. Quantitative data was collected from Engineering National Diploma and B-Tech students in two universities in Gauteng and then captured and processed. Statistical analysis such as factor analysis, analysis of variance, Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient, Pearson chi-squared, the Bartlet test and others were carried out, using various standard tests. The study reveals the extent to which both students and lecturers appreciate WIL. The study also offers recommendations for the unique and on-going collaboration between industry and academic institutions for the purpose of the training of future technicians. In addition, it provides reasons for the possibility of a shorter work placement period provided certain preparations are made by the universities prior to placement. It highlights the need for clarity on the responsibilities of the role players involved and on assessment methods, and for the provision of a more specific, yet flexible, curriculum, while also recommending regular reflection on this component of learning. All of these points are discussed within the context of the Higher Education Qualification Framework in South Africa. This framework recommends that higher education institutions accept responsibility for WIL placement and for ensuring that programmes are properly structured and supervised. / Science and Technology Education / D.
