Comparação dos padrões cinemáticos de chutes realizados por participantes com 15 e 17 anos /

Teixeira, Fabiano Gomes. January 2004 (has links)
This work had as objective to describe and to compare the cinematic patterns of the kick accomplished with the medial part of the foot in players of 15 and 17 years old. Twenty participants accomplished three series of five kicks with the ball, where this should pass for on a barrier positioned at 9.15 meters of the ball, simulating a fault kick of a distance of twenty meters to the goal. Three digital cameras were used: two were positioned to the participants' movement and focalize the passive markers placed in the inferior member, and the other focalize the goal to verify the precision of the kick. The passive markers measuring 2.5cm of diameter were placed in the articulations, defining the segments thigh, leg and foot. The images were captured, stored and measures in the computer. After this the data were smoothed to obtain the cinematic pattern of the kick. The results showed that it happened separations in the support phase in the segment thigh and leg, the segment foot already presented only small differences in the contact phase. In all of the segments it happened significant differences among the phases. About the precision of the success percentage of the kicks it was similar in the two groups (G1=10% and G2=11,3%). So it was concluded that, in spite small differences exist, the pattern was similar in both groups. / Mestre

'n Psigo-opvoedkundige program vir adolessente dogters wat 'n terminasie van swangerskap ondergaan het

Laas, Mari 26 March 2012 (has links)
D.Ed. / The primary theme of this study is the accompanying of the adolescent girl after a termination of pregnancy. A termination of pregnancy is traumatic for any woman, even more so for the adolescent girl who does not necessarily possess the required coping mechanisms to deal with the emotional load that a termination brings with it. Often this girl undergoes a termination in secret, and as a result of the secrecy she does not have any support system. She chooses to keep the termination a secret and therefore she cannot share her fears, heartache, regret, guilt and shame. The relationship in which she was, usually breaks up as a result of the termination, and even that support disappears from her life. She stands alone. She has unanswered questions. She yearns to cry and share her secret - but with whom? After the termination her relationship with herself and with others is poor, and therefore she isolates herself. She does not want to allow herself to have a future, and therefore urgently needs to be guided out of her feelings of hopelessness so that she can dream again, and see a future for herself. The adolescent girl must be led to self-insight, self-awareness and insight into her situation. She must be led to self-assertiveness, empowerment and eventually mental well being. These girls are usually without direction in their lives and caught up in a web of distorted ideas and dysfunctional relationships: her relationship with herself and with others. Her future perspective is also affected. To underpin this situation, I undertook the study and developed a psychosocial programme to support this girl after termination, to assist her to achieve her full potential, as God would wish. The aim of this programme is thus, in co-operation with this adolescent girl, to lead her to mental well being and a new perspective on her future. She must be assured that there is life after a termination of pregnancy. This is done through questioning, listening, discussing, reformulating and reconstructing her circumstances. A person never completes your life's story, but nothing prevents you from reformulating your future, irrespective of what happened in your past. The framework of the programme is compiled from the results of a literature study of published research. This programme was implemented and evaluated on the basis of three interpersonal conversations held with ladies who had undergone termination of pregnancy. Certain needs were identified by these ladies and used as guideline to develop a psycho-social programme to support and lead girls after a termination of a pregnancy. The contribution of this study is in the conceptual framework and programme. The programme has been evaluated in a pilot study.

Teenagers' and community nurses' perceptions of sexually transmitted diseases among teenagers

Diale, Dorothy Maruapula 06 September 2012 (has links)
M.Cur. / An exploratory descriptive study was undertaken, focusing on sexually transmitted diseases among teenagers. The aim of the study was to explore and describe the possible reasons for the high rate of sexually transmitted diseases in teenagers. The knowledge, attitudes and opinions of teenagers and community nurses involved in the teenage clinic in a specific predominantly black area were assessed. Twenty teenagers and five community nurses in a specific predominantly black area, were participants in the study. Focus group interviews are used. The study is conducted in two phases: teenagers representing phase one (1) and community nurses as phase two (2). It can be concluded that the attitudes of community nurses may have an influence on the high rate of sexually transmitted diseases, and the knowledge of the teenagers about sexually transmitted diseases is based on myths and misconceptions. The recommendations made are that the training standards for all community nurses should be reviewed and adapted to meet the needs of teenagers attending the teenage services. The policy on in-service training must be reviewed and monitored. Community nurses' intensive training on teenage service delivery and sexually transmitted diseases services should be in correlation with the principles of Primary Health Care. Community nurses need to attend intensive courses on interpersonal skills specifically related to teenagers. Selection procedures for recruiting community nurses to attend specifically to teenagers should be researched. The attitude of community nurses and teenagers should be the core of the service delivery. Teenagers should be involved in planning programmes and the teenage clinic should be evaluated frequently to improve the standards. The availability of teenage services should result in a decrease in sexually transmitted diseases among teenagers.

An investigation into the promotion and development of awareness intergenerational transmission of prejudice in adolescents

Vermaas, Shanna Maureen January 2016 (has links)
South Africa is a country where those who were oppressed in the past are trying to live in a society with their former oppressors. The youth of today appear to be carrying the anger, fears and uncertainties of the past. This could be the result of intergenerational transmission of prejudice, whereby memories of experiences, fears, anger and levels of anxiety may be absorbed by the next generation. The purpose of this study was to develop and implement an intervention programme that could assist adolescent learners in making their own informed decisions, despite the influences of the intergenerational transmission of prejudice. This was achieved by combining three theories, namely the transgenerational theory, historical trauma and social learning theory, with the principles of bibliotherapy. The research conducted was based in the interpretive paradigm, with the study methodology being qualitative in nature. The research design implemented was a case study. Data generation was achieved by utilising a variety of methods, namely open-ended questions, small focus groups and reflection journals. Analysis of the data was accomplished by applying a thematic analysis approach. The sample for this study was selected from a local, government high school and the participants consisted of a group of Grade 10 learners, who all held leadership positions in the school. The purpose of this study was achieved by utilising the principles of bibliotherapy to inform a programme to develop awareness of intergenerational transmission of prejudice. This was then combined with the principles of bibliotherapy, with scenarios taken from the animated film, The Land Before Time, to further assist in creating awareness and a better understanding of the intergenerational transmission of knowledge. Finally, the programme was used to equip the participants with the tools needed, to transfer what they had learnt from the programme to decisions they would need to make in their daily lives. This study has shown that the principles of bibliotherapy can be used to promote and develop awareness of intergenerational transmission of prejudice in adolescent learners.

The television teen drama as folktale

Jones, Denna Louise January 2011 (has links)
In 1927 Vladimir Propp published a book in which he defined the characteristics and morphology of fairytales. His work was a groundbreaking one that forced scholars to question the way in which stories and storytelling affect the fabric of society and its ideals. Since 1927 much has changed with regards to the way in which stories are told. Technology has changed the way in which people interact and communicate with each other. Media conglomerates such as Walt Disney, Time Warner Company and News Corporation are driven to create stories and media that will deliver consumers to their advertisers. This paper sought to examine the way in which the teen drama has redefined the fairytale, and to establish whether Propp’s work on the morphology of fairytales can still be seen as valid today. Following an in depth literature review that sought to establish the foundations of fairytales, narratives, Propp’s morphology, the development of television as well as the teen television drama, the findings of this paper were established through a detailed content analysis of the first season of three modern teen television dramas – The O.C., One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl. The research found that while some of Propp’s functions may have been adapted to take on a more modern role and a few others became defunct, the majority of the functions of the dramatis personae could be found almost unchanged within the teen television drama. Gossip Girl, in particular demonstrated that it was highly aware of its allusions to the fairytale analogy with numerous references throughout its first season to fairytales such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. More than any of the other shows, Gossip Girl appeared deliberate in its references to the world of fairytales, a world in which the damsel in distress is always rescued by her knight in shining armour, and where monarchy reigns supreme. While humans have continued to evolve and the modes of storytelling have changed significantly since Propp first published his paper, the teen television drama has not yet redefined the characteristics of Propp’s morphology. At most it has modernised them making them relevant to the 21st century viewer.

The Relationships That Help Teenage Syrian Refugees Cope With Stress / Teenage Syrian Refugees: Stress, Support, and Coping

Zoha, Salam January 2020 (has links)
Millions of Syrians have been displaced due to the events of war since 2011. Among those, half of them are youth under the age of 18. In 2015, Canada launched an initiative to be a new home for Syrian refugees, and youth accounted for a large amount of those resettled. Pre-migration and post-migration stressors have been noted to have profound impacts on mental health and well-being. Additionally, adolescence is a crucial period of psychosocial development, which for Syrian youth has been drastically changed as a consequence of war. This includes being uprooted from their communities of family, friends, and religious groups, as such social support systems are important resources in buffering against stress. The research surrounding adolescent Syrian refugees’ experiences of stress and coping is slowly growing. However, little is known about how teenage Syrian refugees in Canada utilize social support. Therefore, it is important to gain understanding of how teenage Syrian refugees use their social support systems to cope with stressors. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with adolescent Syrian refugees (n=9) aged 16-18 who live in Ontario. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis.
The findings suggest that youth face pre migration stressors related to the war and post migration stressors related to acculturation and navigating the education system. Family, peers, school staff, and organizations were identified as forms of social support, with each group having unique reasons as to why they were selected. Coping behaviours were broadly categorized as being inherently individualistic or collectivistic. Teenage Syrian refugees draw upon or seek out resources to navigate complex situations they are faced with, and cultural values influence the stress and coping process. These findings may have implications for mental health providers who work with teenage Syrian refugees, the education system, and policy makers who focus on refugees. / Thesis / Master of Science (MSc) / The goal of the present study was to understand how teenage Syrian refugees in Canada use their social support systems to cope with stressors. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine participants to explore three areas of interest: social supports, coping behaviours, and stressors. The findings suggested that teenage Syrian refugees are able to navigate new and complex situations by drawing upon, or curating, resources. Additionally, culture was a factor in shaping their experiences of the stress and coping process. The results of this study can help mental health providers and those who focus on refugee related policies.
