Comportement des géosynthétiques en ancrage : Modélisation physique et numérique / Behaviour of geosynthetics in anchorage : Physical and numerical models

Lajevardi, Seyed Hamid 19 June 2013 (has links)
The soil reinforcement by geosynthetic is used in many types of structures: embankments on compressible soil, slope on a stable foundation, embankments on cavities and retaining structures. The stability of these structures specially depends on the efficiency of the anchors holding the geosynthetic sheets. The simple run-out and anchorage with wrap around are most commonly used. In order to improve the available knowledge of the anchorage systems behaviour, experimental and numerical studies were developed jointly. This thesis work concerns in the first part a three-dimensional physical modelling of the behaviour of geosynthetics in two anchors (simple run-out and anchorge with wrap around). The pull-out tests were performed in a test tank under controlled conditions in the laboratory. In the second part, the parameters of the interaction soil/geosynthetic found from the experimental study were used into the numerical code “FLAC2D” (continuous) for a better understanding of the behaviour of geosynthetics in anchorage. The influence of several parameters on the behaviour of geosynthetic was treated in this numerical study. In parallel with this model, another numerical modelling (discontinuous) by the discrete element method (PFC2D) was carried out. The results of these models are closely to experimental results which confirm the analysis about the anchoring mechanisms.

Assessing the autogenous shrinkage cracking propensity of concrete by means of the restrained ring test / Die Bewertung der autogenen Schwindrissneigung von Beton mit Hilfe des Ring-Tests

Eppers, Sören 14 March 2011 (has links) (PDF)
The autogenous shrinkage due to self-desiccation of high- and ultra-high performance concretes with very low water-cement ratio in case of restraint leads to considerable stresses starting from very early age. The resultant risk of cracking presently cannot be adequately investigated. Parameters that are particularly difficult to capture experimentally are the concrete temperature and the viscoelasticity. The primary objective of this work was to assess as precise as possible the autogenous shrinkage cracking propensity of representative concretes at strong restraint and constant room temperature. Test methods needed to be chosen and enhanced in a way that preferably allowed for the efficient and precise investigation of all relevant factors in the future. Ideally, a method suitable for a complete empirical modeling was provided. First the methodological requirements and the advantages and disadvantages of existing test methods were discussed. Based on this, optimized test methods were proposed. Their suitability was verified using the example of ultra-high strength concrete. The choice of concrete compositions considered the essential measures for reducing shrinkage (internal curing, shrinkage-reducing admixtures, reduction of the fraction of Portland cement in the binder). The autogenous shrinkage was measured with the shrinkage cone method. This new test method was validated by investigations of the repeatability and reproducibility and proved efficient and precise. It allows for measurements under non-isothermal conditions; no established test method exists for that purpose to date. The autogenous shrinkage of the ultra-high strength concretes at the age of 24 h, investigated under quasi-isothermal conditions (20 °C), was between 0,25 mm/m and 0,70 mm/m. It was particularly low when a shrinkage-reducing admixture was added and when superabsorbent polymers were used. The stresses due to restraint were determined with the restrained ring test. A large part of the stresses to be expected according to Hooke’s Law were eliminated by creep and relaxation. The relaxation capacity being very pronounced at very early age was the main reason that no visible cracking occurred, not even with the concretes with high autogenous shrinkage. The development of the autogenous shrinkage cracking propensity was described as ratio of restraint stress and splitting tensile strength. By means of modified ring tests, used to determine the maximum tensile stress, it could be shown that the ratio of stress to strength is an appropriate failure criterion. However, the cracking propensity can be calculated correctly only if the strongly age-dependent ratio of uniaxial to splitting tensile strength is accounted for. Besides, it needs to be considered that at very early age a plastic stress redistribution may occur in restrained ring tests. The reference concrete showed a high cracking propensity of up to 0.68. The fact that shrinkage-reducing measures led to significantly lower values reveals their relevance for the safe application of ultra-high strength concrete. However, the investigations carried out here at 20 °C do not allow for a final assessment of the cracking propensity under typical on-site conditions. To empirically model the autogenous shrinkage cracking propensity as a function of temperature and stress level in the future, an analytical stress solution for non-isothermal restrained ring tests and a new approach for investigating the residual stress and relaxation capacity by means of non-passive restrained ring tests was suggested.

Marcelo Badini Daflon 08 September 2010 (has links)
This project aims to present the study of tensile armor wires usually employed in the transport of oil, gas and hydraulic umbilicals in the petroleum industry. This study was developed as a need for better anchoring of the tensile armor wires in order to guarantee that even after the rupture of the wire within the connector it will not slip causing the fall of the flexible riser. Thus was established the adhesion study of the interface of the tensile armor wires of the flexible risers. After the end of the tests a new procedure for improving mechanical adhesion between the wires and the epoxy resin was studied. After the end of the adhesion tests tensile test was performed on each wire of the tensile armor under its mounting on the end fitting for checking the loading that reaches the hook of the armor wires. The trials performed in the 2.5end fitting show that the tensile armor wire hooks are of great importance for the structural integrity of the flexible riser, as there is no contact between the resin cone formed within the end fitting and the tensile armor wires area.

Luis Gustavo Sandrin Toscano 16 December 1997 (has links)
The study of the effect of microalloying elements in the chemical composition, microstructure and mechanical properties of the as-welded metaIs obtained by submerged are welding with iron powder addition in High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel were done. Two weld metaIs were made using, BS - 4360 - 50 and USI - SAC - 50 steels, EM - 12K wire, ESAB 400 iron powder and 10.71P experimental flux. Using welding current of 600 A, arc voltage of 34 V, travel speed of 30 cm/min and iron powder flow of 6,7 Kg/h were obtained as-welded metals by single pass into V - groove, that showed good hardenability and refined microstructure. The higher percentage microstructure in the two weld metals was the acicular ferrite. The mechanical tests done were hardness, tensile strength and impact. The weld metal with niobium and vanadium achieve better values of hardness and yield strength than with copper, chromium and nickel weld metal. However, the hardening by solid solution, induced by the high levels of manganese, decreased the impact strength of the two weld metaIs. The non - metallic inclusions nature was investigated by electronic microscopy and EDAX analysis.

Využití asfaltových a betonových recyklátů do pozemních komunikací / The utilization of the asphalt and concrete recycled materials to roads

Žďára, Zbyněk Unknown Date (has links)
This diploma thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The is a review om the topic of recycled asphalt pavement and recycled concrete and their possible use in road construction in the theoretical part. The individual chapters deal with describing these materials, their production, and their use in construction layers of pavements. In the next chapters the attention is also paid to their problematic features and foreign experience using these materials in pavements. In the practical part, laboratory samples of recycled asphalt pavement and recycled concrete and their mixtures with cement are tested. The main purpose is to verify the applications of these mixtures of recycled asphalt pavement and recycled concrete in the bonded base layers of the pavement. Another purpose is to compare how these mixtures individual properties with different proportions of both components and different amounts of cement will be different. In the end, the two mixtures with the best properties was selected and the modulus of elasticity was experimentally determined for the possibility of replacing the currently used base layers and the economic evaluation of this design was made.

Změna trvanlivosti betonu z recyklovaného betonu variantní adicí silikátových příměsí / Change in the durability of concrete made of recycled concrete by alternative addition of ceramic admixtures

Stavař, Tomáš January 2013 (has links)
The master thesis dealing with problematic about durability of concrete, with use of recycled concrete and addition of silica additions. Predominant for resistance of concrete constructions is surface layer, through which aggressive gasses and liquids penetrate from surrounding environment. The most important indicator of concrete durability is ability of surface layer transmissions of aggressive substants. In experimental part will be defined the actual state of surface layer by normal testing methods. The transmissions of surface layer will be tested on concrete cubes. Tests for transmissions of air (method TORRENT), of water (method ISAT), of acid gases (dept of carbonation by quick test in 98% CO2) will be carried out and also strength tests. Assessment of positive or negative influence of additions and amount of cement on durability and mechanical properties of concrete will be discussed in conclusion.

Janoušek, Petr January 2013 (has links)
The topic of this master's thesis is the development of composite materials based on inorganic binders for use in extreme conditions. It means especially geopolymeric or alkali activated materials (AAM) based composites. The theoretical part of this thesis summarizes knowledges about the development and use of alkali-activated materials, their structure and mechanisms of their formation. It also deals with the applicable raw materials for AAM and their exciters, which are in particular water glass and sodium hydroxide. There also have been a summary of the effects of high temperatures and chemicals on the mechanical properties of AAM and the requirements of standard EN 1504-3 for repairing materials. The task of the practical part was to develop a repair mortar for concrete structures based on AAM so that its production was as simple as possible, ie one-component materials. Gradually six recipes have been develeoped. Test specimens made from these recipes have been putted to selected tests according to the requirements of ČSN EN 1504-3.
