Wint.).

Tartier, Léon M. January 1964 (has links)
Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory and Hypolipidemic Properties of Apple Flavonols

Sekhon-Loodu, Satvir 23 August 2012 (has links)
Obesity is considered an underlying risk factor for metabolic disease including cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes. The fractions containing flavonols from apple peel were evaluated for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hypolipidemic properties using in vitro and in vivo experimental model systems. The fractionated polyphenolics from apple peels showed a strong antioxidant property protecting against heat-induced oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids present in fish oil. Apple flavonols (AF), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and the isoquercitrin-EPA ester (QE) significantly reduced serum triacylglycerols and elevated the high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol compared to the high fat control group. C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 were also reduced compared to the high fat control group and inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharides. Serum adiponectin and interferon-? concentrations were significantly altered by QE treatment. Overall, AF and QE exhibited anti-inflammatory and hypolipidemic effects under in vivo conditions. These beneficial physiological properties and mode of action of AF and QE need to be further investigated.

Communiquer avec un Hub Apple : interfaces versus interférences / Communicating with an Apple Hub : INterfaces versus interferences

Balseiro, Alain 24 January 2014 (has links)
AThis research calls into question the use of the graphical and the tactile interfaces of an Apple hub, in the sense that this hub leads to interference between two areas of communication. The first starts from a WIMP device (a Mac, its exploitation system Mac OS X, and a third party application). The second starts from a post-WIMP device (an iPad, its iOS system, and a built-in application). The question at issue bears on the effects of this interference on user practices. In parallel and complementary fashion, the research is based on the analysis of the model, both screen and tactile, envisioned and prescribed by the designers of the devices, as well as on an analysis of the manner in which users actually employ in instrumental fashion (or not) what is offered to them, while using a certain margin of freedom and creativity. The articulation of these two levels leads to a reconsideration of the question of how the designers initially conceived organizing patterns (specific schemas) and its regulation in terms of action norms for communication, on the industrial and cultural level, as well as on the more fundamental level of cognition from which they originate. The communicational dimension of the research is concerned with the insights which can be drawn from the manner in which, at the crossroads of ergonomic, psychological and cognitive approaches, a relational dimension develops in the exchanges and interactions of the various actors.
